Rem 1.1/Flash 3.3

It was another hot day in the Wilt'no. Then again, when was it ever cold during the daytime? Rem wiped the sweat from his face and muttered to himself, "I'm glad I don't live here."

"Of course you are," his friend, Flash, said. "I don't know how people can survive here." The Ferrikoon was persipiring heavily, his fur slick with his own sweat. "C'mon, let's get started. We got some training to do."

"Training for what?" Rem squinted his eyes at the bright sand all around him. "There's no reason to fight, really..."

"... But I've heard there's a tournament in the Slums," Flash countered. "And you gotta admit, we do need some money. If we have more money, then you can whatever you want."

Rem hesitated. "Fine. I suppose I can go along with that."

Rem 1.2/Flash 3.4

"First," Flash said. "Let's see what you can do."

Rem looked at the Ferrikoon oddly. "Like...?"

"I dunno. I mean... don't you have a sword or something? You have all this armor and I think you guys should at least have some sort of idea of fighting." Flash shrugged. "Do you have any sword skills? Battle experiences? Anything?"

The Kuchi Nagi looked at the horizon. "Well... I guess... I'm not really sure." Rem turned his focus back to Flash. "Why don't we do push-ups first?"

"Push-ups are for sissies." Flash rolled his eyes.

"Very well then. Let's try it out and see how you do."

Rem 1.3/Flash 4.0
-Flash Level Up-

"What?!" Flash shook his head. "Nah, I didn't mean it, seriously! Hey, look, let's get out those dummies we got from that old man and try knocking them around, all right?"

Rem nodded. "If you insist." He paused and then looked up, shielding his eyes from the sun. "My, why do we have to train here? It's so hot... and stifling... and I feel like I'm going to shrivel up any minute..."

"It builds endurance, man, training here." Flash tossed him a bottle of water. "Here, you'll need it."

Rem took a long drink from the bottle and sighed in relief. "Thanks."

Rem 1.4/Flash 4.1

The dummy looked like some two-year old had sloppily stitched it together with yarn. A happy face was clumsily painted on with black paint with one eye being an 'x'. It sagged as it stood on its stand, the stray straws sticking out of its head like hair bending and twisting in the arid desert air.

Still, when Rem punched it, it was like he had hit a wall of solid rock.

"Is it really that hard?" Flash asked as he watched the Kuchi Nagi cluch his claw in pain. "Dude... you all right?"

"Do I look all right?" Rem muttered.

Rem 2.0/Flash 4.2
-Rem Level Up-

"Let me try," Flash said. Rem stepped out of the way as the Ferrikoon dived at the dummy. "Geronimoooo!" He slammed into it. Hard. The dummy bent over, its heavy head touching the sand. Flash turned to smile at Rem. The Kuchi Nagi was about to smile back when the dummy suddenly sprang back up, sending the startled Flash flying into the air.

"What the-!"

Rem 2.1/Flash 4.3

"Wh-whoa..." Flash sat up, shaking his head. "Now that was a new experience..."

"Are you sure that thing's made of straw?" Rem took another sip from the water bottle. "I swear that the old man put bricks in there or something." The Kuchi Nagi set the bottle down and sighed. "Well, are we just going to try to break that dummy?"

"Good idea!" Flash exclaimed. "Our goal will be to knock this dummy's head off!"

Rem rolled his eyes. "Good luck with that."

Rem 2.2/Flash 4.4

Flash looked at Rem. "You aren't going to try? C'mon, man, you gotta give it a shot..."

"I punched it. I almost broke my arm. What more do you want?" Rem answered.

"Well, you could try hitting it with a sword." Flash said.

"A sword? Very funny." Rem shook his head. "Just because I wear armor doesn't mean I'm a swordsman."

"But we could try to make you one!"

"No thanks. You go and attack your dummy, all right?"

Rem 2.3/Flash 5.0
-Flash Level Up-

Rem didn't like it here. At all. He knew there was a fair chance that he could die in the heat out here, him being a creature suited to the cold. He tossed aside the empty water bottle and said, "I hope you brought enough water, Flash."

"What?" Flash looked up. He had been circling around the dummy. "Oh... uh... sure. Whatever."

Rem 2.4/Flash 5.1/Mokonth 4.4

Rem sighed at his friend's carelessness. He opened Flash's back and rummaged through it, trying to see how much water they had left exactly. Suddenly, something sharp bit into his claw. Rem shouted in surprise and yanked out his hand. There was a furry creature biting onto his fingers, a smug look on its face. "Get off of me!"

"Hey, what's going on?!" Flash flew over. The furry thing let go of Rem and dove at the Ferrikoon, giving a shrill screech. It bit and scratched at his face before taking to the safety of the sky. "What the 'ell!"

"I'm not leaving!" The furry thing screeched. "Never, never, never again!"

Rem 3.0/Flash 5.2/Mokonth 5.0
-Rem and Mokonth Level Up-

"How the heck did that thing get into my bag?!" Flash growled.

"I'm not a thing!" the bat creature shrieked. "I'm Mokonth! Mokonth! Get it right!" Mokonth fluttered around the sky in circles. Rem noticed, with alarm, that he held a water bottle in his tiny claws. "Don't treat me like I'm some random thing!"

"You are some random thing!" Flash shot back. "Now come back down here and-"

The water bottle hit the Ferrikoon hard on the head. Flash yelped at the sudden coldness of the water. Rem stepped forward. "Nice to meet you too, Mokonth," he shouted. "Why don't you come down now?"

Rem 3.1/Flash 5.3/Mokonth 5.1

"No!" Mokonth shrieked back. "You're 'friend' here just wants to hurt me! I'm telling you: I'm not coming down and I'm never going back! Never!"

"What is that crazy thing talking about?" Flash muttered, trying to clean out his wet fur. "Geez... its voice is hurting my ears."

"I don't know," Rem answered quietly. "Hey! I promise that he won't hurt you! I won't let him! All right? Are you hungry? I think we got some food we can share with you..." He began to rummage through the bag and picked up a box of crackers. When he held it up though, he found that it was empty. "Son of a... he ate all our food." Rem muttered as he looked deeper into the bag.
