Dyugra smiled to himself when he saw the Lucain charging at him. Not because he deemed this a stupid attack but because he preferred a direct, quick battle as well. If he wanted to stand a chance here, he had to hit hard and fast and the Lucain coming onto him made both possible. He hated to use anything but his brute strength, but he knew he had to play all his cards here at once. Summoning the dark powers that he had, he threw them at the Lucain while trying to evade to get bitten or hit or possibly both.

Corr had scored a hit. He leapt away from the Fellox just in time to avoid being hit by what looked like a nasty attack. He had a feeling that would have hurt if it had made contact. He’d have to be more careful about that. Corr silently wished he had some kind of move that would allow him to attack from a distance, but all he had were his teeth and claws, and the spikes on his back. Hm...now there was an idea. Corr turned, skidding across the arena floor and kicking up dust as he shot back towards the fellox. This time, though, he didn’t attack head on with his claws. He ran by the side of the fellox, jaws snapping as he leaned to the side to try and score a hit with the sharp wing blades and razor-like teeth.

This guy was fast! Dyugra had barely time to check his wounds and curse his bad luck when the Lucain came at him again, this time obviously trying to land a hit with his wingblades in addition to his teeth. Dyugra threw himself to the side, trying to avoid direct combat for now - he had just known those wingblades were trouble and how right he had been - and tried to hit his opponent with his dark magic again. Hopefully, he'd be able to hit this time. Hopefully, because the speed of the Lucain made hitting rather difficult and it was hard to use his claws if all he'd get were nasty cuts.

The next attack had been somewhat expected. Corr knew the Fellox would try to use the same dark looking attack on him after the first had failed to land a hit. His eyes widened slightly; he was too close to avoid a direct hit, and the attack hit him head on. Corr was thrown backwards, barely managing to keep his feet as the shadow attack plowed into him. He shook his fur, looking dazed as he tried to regain his equilibrium. A low growl rumbled in his chest; he knew that was going to hurt, and it did. But at least he’d landed a hit of his own. Stumbling slightly, Corr turned to face his opponent once more. He decided he might as well just stick with the ‘head on attack’ idea. He charged again, finally able to shake off the effects of the Felloxe’s former attack. Corr lunged, claws splayed out and jaws aiming for the spot just behind the Fellox’s neck; maybe if he landed a hit, this whole thing would be over. But one could never take anything for granted in a battle like this…

Dyugra was finally somewhat satisfied when he finally managed to hit the Lucain, but he had never been a good mage and his dark powers were at their limit. And he had, as expected, managed to cut himself open thanks to his opponent's wingblades. As much as he hated to admit it, Dyugra was seriously starting to doubt he could win this. If the Lucain didn't knock him out, he'd do it himself. Just great.
Even so, Dyugra surely wouldn't go and admit defeat, no matter the odds. He panted and the bloodloss made him somewhat dizzy, but the Lucain had also needed a few seconds to concentrate before attacking again. Dyugra growled. If this guy wanted a head-on-attack, he'd give him one as well, no matter the cost. Dyugra leaped, acting as if he wanted to hit the Lucain's neck but then changed his target to the front legs instead. If he could hinder his opponent's movement somehow, that would help a lot.

Shoot. Corr very nearly had himself flipped over by the large Fellox, feeling the fangs slash at his front legs. He almost somersaulted through the air, and landed feet first in the dirt, stomach brushing the ground as the impact shook through his legs and then his body. He growled deep in his chest; that hurt. Badly. And he wasn’t expecting it. He’d missed completely because of the Fellox’s attack. He could feel the blood tricking through his fur, but knew it probably wasn’t so out of place with the light and dark pinks of his coat. He hauled himself to his feet, and stepped forward slightly. “Right then,” he muttered, lifting one leg to inspect the damage. Not enough to throw him out of the competition, but enough to slow him down a bit. He growled again, and turned to face the Fellox. This time as he ran, he darted to the right, coming in around to the side of the Fellox, and aiming snapping jaws and sharp wing blades at the Fellox’s midsection, hoping to score a heavy hit.

Finally he was getting somewhere - at least as long as he managed to avoid the attacks of the other one. But his luck was bound to end sooner or later and he had to hurry up. Dyugra was quite badly hurt and the Lucain was still standing. While bleeding as well by now, it looked like his opponent could take quite a few more hits, so Dyugra didn't waste his time talking and just ran at his target again. He cursed under his breath when those wingblades were aimed at him again and tried to avoid contact while slashing at the Lucain with his claws again, this time aiming for whatever was in reach that wasn't teeth or claws or wingblades.

Corr had managed to evade another hit. But he had scored one of his own, and from the looks of it, the Fellox didn’t have much fight left in him. Corr seemed to nod to himself. One or two more well-aimed strikes, and the match would soon be over. He circled his opponent, feeling the sting of the wounds on his legs a the chilly winter air inside the dome bit at the cuts. He hissed slightly, lowering his head to watch them closely, as if waiting for them to heal magically on their own, before his gaze once more flickered towards the Fellox. Time to try and end this. Corr darted forward, ignoring the bite in his legs and the sting of his fresh wounds as he once more leapt and aimed another strike at the Fellox’s neck, hoping his attack would connect and end the battle soon.

Oh, shoot. This wasn't good at all. He was about to lose consciousness and he knew it. Dyugra shook his head, ignoring the pain in favour of trying to get a grip of himself. He was still standing, albeit a bit shaky. Alright, if he was going down, he wanted to make at least sure the Lucain would pay a good price for his victory. With whatever strength Dyugra had left, he threw himself at his opponent, not caring about the wingblades anymore and only hoping to inflict one last blow that the Lucain would at least feel for quite some time.

It looked like the first round was over with. Astrophel crossed out Dyugra's name from the screen board and slid the names for the second round. "Good fight to the first two," he congratulated. "Shieba's Dyugra will receive the 8th prize for participating, and MillietheWarrior's Corr has the chance to fight the winner of the next round, in due time."

He directed the next challengers to the stairs. "Pyris's Hexle and Rebel_the_Proud's Daishou, if you step into the arena, please." Not wasting any time, nope.

After seeing the way that Fellox was dropped, Hexle wasn't so sure he wanted to enter, anymore.  His whole body tingled with nerves, and looking over at his opponent did not help.  He'd been curious, hadn't he?  He'd wanted to know, right?  Well now, he was getting his chance.  Stepping out, he let out a small sigh before deciding to lie in the bed he'd made for himself.
