It was this time of the year again. Bright, pure white snow was falling from the sky, and the wind was crispy and cold. The snow would crunch under the footsteps of passersby. Everyone was walking along the streets of Aldrect, scanning the shops and their items to find the perfect presents for their loved ones. It was a busy time of the year, despite the cold and the harsh conditions overall.
And you were one of them, walking along the sidewalk, checking those stores. But nothing seemed to catch your attention at all. The items were either over your budget, or they were simply not the kinds your friends and your family were looking for. It was getting dark and even colder, too. Was this going to be a wasted day for Christmas shopping...?
"You seem troubled, my friend."
A man dressed in a long cloak walked towards you, his yellow scarf fluttering in the wind. There was a mysterious presence about him, but he seemed to be trustworthy, from the smile he had on his face. "Good evening," he greeted, revealing a hand for you to shake. "You seem to be looking for gifts, am I right? You can't seem to find the right one, however, am I right...? But I can help you find the perfect gift. If you would kindly follow me..." And without waiting for a response, he headed towards a fairly large dome not so far away from where you both were. Where was he taking you?
The dome looked like a battling arena. The sliding glass doors opened smoothly with a quiet "swish" as you both stepped inside. Immediately you noticed the difference in temperature, and you feel warm and comfortable again. You are first greeted by a long hall, which lead to a large room, much like a lobby. A large desk was at the front, but nobody seemed to be at the desk at the moment. Countless doors were located on the walls of the lobby, and behind the desk were stairs that were leading up to another floor.
The mysterious walked up to the desk and slipped behind it, greeting you again. "We usually work as a bank, or an insurance institution, during the year. But when seasonals come around, we like to do something... a little different," he explained, taking off his scarf and his cloak to reveal a plaided sleeve shirt and a regular pair of jeans. "I am known as Astrophel, and I am the one behind this event. Ah, what is this, you might be wondering? This is, in fact, a tournament. You will fight for the prizes... Here are the rules for you to read." He picked up a book, the cover made out of leather and the pages soft to the touch. He also put a form besides the book, along with a quill pen. The feather glowed with the colors of the rainbow, but the feather itself was silver in color.
