Return to Aldrect, the Holy City

New life, in two ways (Private)(PG)

Postby Jaden Wolf » 02/27/2010 7:24 PM

Kelp/Entay

Rotating his...
Oops, her shoulders, Kelp...ach,
Entay walked through the gates of the city known as Aldrect.
This body would take getting used to.
How did he get stuck in a female body anyway?

He looked down at the human form the body held. He couldn't help but think of how wrong this was. Shrugging, he looked around. The Holy City... oh, how ironic. Kelp was probably the least Holy thing here, walking among the statues, churches, and temples to the gods...or godesses. A male spirit who possesed the body of a human, female fellox. He knew that while he inhabited the body though, the fellox form would actually be more along the lines of his true species rather than that. Ah well, as long as he didn't run into anyone who knew or recognized even, this body. Entay. The name had a certain charm about it, luckily. If he had to be stuck in this body, it might as well be somewhat to his liking.

So anyway, what should he do now? He knew no part of this world. He knew nothing about how to behave normally. He could of course, back then, since he was trained to blend in, but... Sighing, he walked over to the first building he saw. A cafe? Well, why not? Another female came up to him, dressed in a blue miniskirt, and a thin, tight-fitting stripped shirt with a low front, her blond hair flowing around her shoulders. He found it interesting for some reason, but didn't understand it. Besides, as soon as he considered the reaction, it was drowned in a feeling of disgust. Ignoring the inner conflict. He nodded to whatever she said to him in her strange perky voice that hurt his ears. That was another good thing about this body. At least from its own ears, it sounded more calm and soft, though he thought he detected a strange chime-like echo hanging on the end of every word he said through its lips. Following the woman, he sat on a patio chair, the body automatically crossing its legs, a strange sensation to him. Leaning on the table, he looked around him automatically. He was in the open, no unseeable roofs and...he shouldn't be worrying about this. The liklihood of this body having enemies was really, quite low.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar

This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth

Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound

The waitress came back, ignoring some guys who whistled at her as she passed. Kelp noticed they raised their eyebrows at his body too. What did Entay look like anyway? He didn't get much of a look before he was bound to her. He did know she was about his age though...well, his spirit age, the age he died. Suddenly, something dawned on him. Before he could think about it, the perky waitress stopped next to him.
"What can I get for you? We're specializing in coffee todaay. Oh but you're probably too young to be drinking it. Then again, so many girls are like, young lookinng. And there's alot of girls who actually like, LIKE this stuuff. So anyway, what'll it be?" she asked, Kelp snarling at her way of talking (mentally of course). He looked up at the waitress and tried smiling. The waitress blinked at her, and nodded with a smile.
"Coffee it is then ma'am." With that she bounced away. Kelp stared after her. How did he do that? Told her he'd have this...coffee stuff...just by smiling? He couldn't help but wonder, was it this new world, or a charm of his new body? Perhaps, something else? As the waitress came back and set the cup down in front of him, he thanked her, gaining another strange look, and stared down at the black fluid. It didn't look drinkable, honestly, though the smell was familiar, and quite good. Perhaps this is the stuff (or similar to it) that the commander drank back then? Glancing up at someone else with the same drink, he saw the man pour in the white fluid, and some more white stuff out of a package then stir it. Looking down at the objects on his own table, he mimicd the man. Just as he raised it to his lips, something tickled the back of his mind, but he ignored it.
That stuff is nasty, don't drink it! It's not really good for your body either. So cut it out.
Kelp almost spilt the steaming coffee as a voice spoke in his head. He glanced around, but no one seemed to be paying any attention to him. Closing her eyes, he searched his mind for the voice. Suddenly all went black and he saw himself standing somewhere, probably inside the mind. He'd never seen anything like this before. Perhaps it was something related to him being a spirit? Either way, he spoke out, somehow knowing the body wouldn't speak if he did, just him.
"Who's there?" he asked, searching with his eyes for some clue. Then a hazy shimmer appeared in front of him. He could just make out a human form, but it was too blurry to see clearly.
"Who are you?" he asked again, squinting at it. It became slightly clearer. A female body.
What, you suddenly jump into my body and you're asking me who I am?" the voice sounded angry, and yet somewhat familiar. Definitely female. Then he realized who it was.
"Entay?" he mumbled, surprised.
Uh, yeah! Now you tell me who you are. It's only fair I know who decided to take over my body. Especially if you're a male.
Stunned, Kelp blinked.
"Kelp." He mumbled.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

The image of the girl became more clear, and Kelp blinked. Her eyes were a bright green, her black hair curled lightly over her shoulder, cradling her face. She was not extremely skinny, but naturally slender, with pale skin. In honesty, Kelp found her rather attractive, and he'd never actually interacted with females before. She seemed rather irritated though, and strode towards him, crossing her arms over the plain white dress she wore. No doubt she was only wearing it because she was in spirit form.
Okay then Kelp...what are you doing in my body?" she asked, her gaze burning into him. He looked back into them coldly.
"Does it matter? I'm here, and that's that. Now stop annoying me and go away." He stated plainly, and turned away. He could feel her staring at him in disbelief. Ignoring her spluttering, he willed himself back to conciousness. Opening her eyes, Kelp glanced around. No one was paying any attention to him. Feeling a painful heat in his hands, he looked down to see that he was still holding the cup of coffee. Taking a small sip, he set it down. It did taste bad...but he decided to drink it anyway, as punishment to Entay for annoying him. Halfway through the cup, Kelp found that he just couldn't sit still anymore. Standing, he walked to the exit.
Are you going to pay at least? her voice came back, resentful. He ignored it.
You're going to give me a bad rep.
It's not your "rep" anymore. He replied coldly. She fell silent.
"Hey, are going to pay, ma'am?" the high voice called. Kelp ignored it too and kept walking. He passed the entrance, and heard the woman shouting that someone didn't pay. Well of course, since he didn't have any money on him anyway. He didn't even know if the money was the same as it was back then. More shouts behind him as he turned onto the next street. A few buildings later, and someone shouted, "hey, stop there you!"
Of course, he didn't stop. A breeze ruffled Entay's hair and he reached up to catch her beret as it blew off. Pausing to look at a mirror in a shop window, he started to put the white cap on but froze. He found himself looking at Entay's form for the first time, and it took his breath away. She was wearing (aside from the white beret) dark gray dress pants, a loose white (and see-through) shirt that hung off her shoulders, with a black tank top underneath. A black belt with silver lined holes running through it hung over her waistline. Her face was the same as he saw before, but her eyes were different. The bright green bled outward into the devilish red of his own eyes, with a black rim around the iris. It gave him a strange feeling...then he realized it wasn't him feeling it, it was the body. The body naturally shied away from the beautiful danger lurking behind those eyes. Yet despite its emotions, the body could not turn away, even if he willed it to. He finally closed his eyes and broke the trance those eyes had locked him in.

He started walking again, but stopped when he heard footsteps behind him. He dodged to the side just as someone tried to grab him. Smiling, he looked down at the policeman and glanced back at the other one standing just behind.
"We're going to have to ask you to come back with us ma'am." The woman said as her partner picked himself off the ground. Kelp considered his options, and was struck with an idea. If his eyes could put himself in a trance, what could it do to other people? Slowly and deliberately, he looked into the officer's eyes. She froze and her hand slowly went to her side, to where her weapon was kept.
"Ma'am. C-come quietly, there's no need to make a f-fuss." The woman stuttered, and Kelp noticed her wince at it. The woman was trying to be brave, which meant she was frightened of him. Her partner however, had no idea what was going on and was glancing in between the two, trying to understand.
Stop it, Kelp. You're being mean.
Naw, I'm having fun. He smiled, causing the woman to jump. He could feel Entay's frustration inside him, but chose to ignore it. She protested as he looked into the man's eyes. His reaction was the same. His body went rigid and he reached for the holster on his hip.
Kelp...you do know what you're doing right? They have weapons...you'll get us killed! Entay sounded worried, and Kelp tilted his head.
Of course I know what I'm doing. Like I told you...I'm having fun. Oh and "us"? So you're finally getting used to the idea of two spirits, one body? he said tauntingly.
Your 'fun' equals to stupidity to me. I already knew that there was two of us in here. It's kind of obvious. Does that mean I like it? No. But if you die, I die too. Besides, you're still normal...for a spirit...you will get killed if you keep it up. She sounded angry, and Kelp's smile faded, leading to confusion on the officers' part.
You misjudge me. He snarled at her in his mind, and jumped forward at the officers. They jumped and grabbed their weapons. Grabbing the woman's arm, he jerked it, causing her to drop her gun. Twisting and pulling her, he knocked her into her partner who dropped his own gun as the two fell to the ground. Turning, he ran and dodged into the nearest alley, double stepping the twisting stairs that it consisted of.

After many twists and turns, Kelp found himself standing on an empty rooftop. Wondering why he was on one without climbing a ladder, he looked around. After a quick look, he realized that the buidlings were built on top of each other in such a fashion that all rooftops were accesible, as were the streets. Many roofs were even a cement lawn for some houses, who tried to decorate it with potted plants and the occasional small tree. Luckily, this roof overlooked a narrow street, with the steps on one side leading down to another roof and two walls on the other sides. Sitting on the edge, Kelp looked up and down the street. Except for a couple of kids playing up the street, a homeless person shuffling down the other end, and some rattegans skittering around, the place was empty. Leaning back, he grinned, panting. This body was not in very good shape.
It is so in good shape! Am I fat? I think not! So I'm not as used to excersise as some other people, but I'm not out of shape! Entay muttered. Kelp ignored her, and heard her mental sigh of exasperation, which made him smile more. Thinking back through the day, he wondered if this was just a day-long thing. Suddenly, he recalled something he remembered when he was at the cafe, and his smile faded.
"Today's my 16th birthday." He whispered. Back then, he was supposed to turn 16, where he would be given the day to have fun, to be free for the first time. The higher ups would actually notice him and congraulate him since he was an adult...which was a big deal for someone like him. But he...never got to see it. He died just before midnight. And now...on the anniversary of his death and his birth...it meant nothing. He'd never gain that day that he'd been looking forward to his whole life.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

A tear trickled down Entay's cheek and Kelp reached up to brush it off. Tears? Crying? He'd never done that before.
I'm sorry... came a gentle whisper inside his head.
Shut it. There's nothing to be sorry for. Go away." Kelp snapped back angrily. He sat up, leaning his arms on his knees. The children down the street disappeared into some doorways and the homeless person slipped into an alley. He was alone now. All...alone...for his 16th birthday. Suddenly, everything went black and he found himself in male form, sitting in darkness. A hand rested on his shoulder and he looked beside him to see Entay kneel there, gazing at him in pity. He scowled at her and shrugged her hand off.
I told you to go away. I don't need pity.
...you aren't alone now. You're with me. Well, not that I'm exactly willing, but since I'm here...you're not alone. ...Uh...happy birthday.
Kelp scoffed.
I'm still alone. You don't know me, so it doesn't mean anything. And being alone isn't a problem, it's actually relaxing. But I guess I'll never get to relax with you around. Oh and again, you don't know me, so don't say 'happy birthday', cause they're just words.
If you think I need to know you, then tell me who you are. I may not like you being here, but I can't ignore someone who's alone or in need. Not that you're in need, Mr.Perfect. If you think that will make you 'not alone', then deal with it, cause like you said, you'll never get to 'relax' cause I'm not going anywhere. Oh and by the way, even if you won't tell me who you are. At least tell me why you ditched whatever body you were last in, or your...own...body...for mine. Kelp scoffed again, but couldn't help but notice her hesitation when she said "your own body".
I don't think you need to know who I am. But I'm not perfect. Also, I never ditched anyone else's body. I was never in another body...except mine of course. I didn't ditch my body either. I died a long time ago. One more thing. You think I chose your body? No. Oh no no no. If I had my way, I'd have gotten rid of you instead of taken you. I don't know what happened. You walked over my body and I came up to punish you, but as soon as I came up, I got chained in here. Happy now?
There was silence, and Kelp curiously looked over at Entay, only to see her staring at him blankly. What was with her? Slowly, her mouth opened and closed, as if she were considering her words.
You...died? You wanted to...punish me? Because I...walked over your grave? I didn't see a...grave anywhere. Uh...what...what would you do if you were freed from...me? she was slow, obviously just barely piecing her thoughts together.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

Kelp rolled his eyes. More questions. He didn't want to answer, but he didn't really have anything to do right now. With a sigh, he leant back, looking up into the darkness. He could see a faint image of sky and cement far above him. So what order did those questions come in?
Yeah. I died. Punish you? Of course, you walked over my body and woke me up. It wasn't really a grave...but my death site, in the Vast Plains. My body was left where it fell. Recalling the last question, he turned his head and fixed a cold stare on Entay.
If I got out of here, I'd do what I'd do otherwise. She blinked, and was silent for a moment, staring back at him with those green eyes of hers. He considered going back to the surface and finding something to do, when she spoke again.
What would you do if you were freed. After killing me.
Kelp blinked at her in confusion. Why should she care what he would do after her punishment?
You're a strange woman. But I'll answer your question. Do I have a choice really? First off, I'm not going to kill you, though whatever I do might result in death, but it's more a curse than a killing. If you don't believe in curses, start. That witch-voodoo-mumbo-jumbo is probably made up, but a spirit curse is as real as the earth our body sits on. I should know, I've done it before. Second, why do you even care what I'm going to do after I'm free? She perked up a bit as he spoke, though it was obvious she was trying not to show it. He vaguely wondered why she was so interested in what he was saying, but decided to ignore it. Suddenly she started to fade, and he could sense her pulling herself into the back of their mind. Curious, but not really caring, Kelp surfaced, blinking as colored scenery and other senses came flooding back. The sun was setting now. He'd been in there a while.

Standing back up, he walked back down the alley/stairs to the street. Following the path, he ignored shining eyes that watched his movements, humanoid or not. Finally reaching a main street, he looked around at the buildings, visible through the thinning number of people passing by. Looking down the street, he gritted his teeth as he realized that the gates to the city were closed.
Guess I'm not getting out of here tonight. A grumble sounded in the back of his mind, but he ignored it, not caring about the thoughts in her mind, hidden from him.
Spotting an inn, he walked up to it, opening the thick wooden door. The interior was dusty, making the air thick. The pale yellow paint on the walls were peeling and the lights above flickered, if they weren't already burnt out. Another grumble in his mind, again ignored, and Kelp walked towards the desk, the only thing that seemed clean in the whole room. A grungy looking man with a crooked figure limped over to him, and smiled crookedly as he moved some papers.
"Wha' kern I do yeh fer miss?" he said in a gravelly, but kind voice. Taking on his female appearance, Kelp pullled Entay's hair behind her ears and smiled, careful not to look the man in the eye.
"Could I have a room for the night please? I stayed too long, the gates are closed already." He said, accenting it with a giggle. The man smiled back, and nodded, turning to the key rack.
"'kay miss, room it is! Serprised ya picked this ol' place. People dun usually like it much, s'pecially pretty lassies like yeh. Clean an' all, no bugs, but it ain't easy on th'eyes either. Lotsa newcomers ferget a'out them gates, too. You in a rush? I can give yeh a wake up call when they's about to open them gates in the mornin'."
"Oh, no that's alright. I'm not in any rush...I just wasn't planning to stay in the city is all." Glancing down at the room key handed to him, he read room 3 and thanked the man again as he headed down the corridor. Slipping into his room, he opened the curtains to a view of the street and ignoring Entay's immense dislike of the surroundings, flopped onto the bed.
