Alyn couldn't wish for a better gift. Takuma hadn't just come home better; he'd come home loaded. He'd somehow divined that she'd had a hard time recently (she'd felt more alienated than usual), and so had offered her a trip to Aldrect, insisting that, "No one could be unhappy in such a happy city!"

She was beginning to think he was right. She walked along the streets, carrying her bag tight in her hands. She laughed to herself, thinking about it. Leave it to the unavailable one...

Tokini wandered the streets, a slight dance in her step as she hummed a tune lightly. She looked up, noticing a familiar figure. She raised a hand, calling out: "Alyn!"

She jogged a bit to catch up to her friend, happy to see a familiar face. Alyn really couldn't be as cold as she acted, after all.

Alyn looked over, blinking. "Tokini?" she asked. She forgot to be mean; in this city, she couldn't even pretend to be unhappy. She slowed her pace to let the other woman catch up. "How are you?"

She smiled at the older woman's outfit; a light gold sundress with dark gold patterns and sparkles, contrasting well her violet eyes and the violet tips on her golden hair. She looked striking, unique. It fit her well, Alyn thought.

Tokini grinned. "I'm good, thanks," she said. "How are you, though? Taku said you were feeling kind of down; is there anything I can do to help?"

See? she thought, Alyn's not so very mean at all. She looked the girl over. Almost white pale blond hair, with orange-red eyes, wearing an off-white dress with gray designs. It looked good on the girl, she observed. Why didn't she have a boyfriend yet?

Alyn smiled. "Nah, I'm fine now. I was just feeling a bit lonely," she assured Tokini. "Though... do you want to, you know... hang out?"

Sure, it was crazy. Sure, it was a little odd for her. But she wanted to hang out with someone, and Tokini was right there. It wasn't so bad, she was sure, to simply ask.

Tokini grinned. "Sure," she said. "What were you planning on doing?"

She'd finished her errands, after all. And Alyn really did seem like a nice girl, habits aside. There was no harm in merely hanging out with her. It might even be fun! In her internal monologue, though, she failed to notice Alyn's small secretive smile, which, had she noticed, would have likely worried her.

Alyn held out a hand to Tokini. "I was just going to go get some food, for right now, then hit the stores. Does that sound good?" She watched the woman carefully.

Sure, she was thirsty. But she didn't want to hurt Tokini, actually. She felt as if the other woman was the only one to open up to her.

Tokini took her hand. "Sounds great," she agreed. She laughed a bit - of course it would be okay!

She had to wonder, though... "Say. I heard Gabi and Cecilia talking about you," she said, carefully. "And I heard the word vampire come up. Are you...?" She was gentle about it. She didn't mind, not really, but she was curious...

"Do you think I am?"

It was evasive, sure. But Alyn did want to know the answer to that question. She thought it was annoying, really, that she was one - it was so cliche. And everyone seemed to think she should sparkle or something. But, no. If it weren't for her spelled tattoos, she'd never step out of the pen during the daytime. She didn't have a death-wish, thanks. All because of some silly books...

Tokini raised her eyebrows in surprise. "I... don't know," she said, slowly. "I, uh... Maybe?"

What a wimpy answer. But she really didn't know what she thought. On the one hand, Alyn seemed like it. On the other... She really almost didn't. So what to say?

Alyn smiled thinly. So she was undecided. She approached Tokini, quickly, leaning in close.

"Are you scared, then?" she asked. Dangerous? Yes. But she enjoyed danger.

Tokini paled, staring. She was scared - that was the problem.

"Yes."

She could feel that she was pale. She tried to step back. Couldn't. She turned her eyes to look at Alyn, knowing her fear was visible.

Alyn smiled, then withdrew. "Good," she said. "You should be."

She stepped back to her place beside Tokini. She winked, then continued on.

Tokini stared. "...You..."

She couldn't believe it. Alyn was a vampire. She seemed so much more dangerous now. But, still, that smile hadn't changed. She was still her friend. Right?

Alyn walked onward without acknowledging the statement. She kept perfectly silent, until she suddenly turned to Tokini.

"Would you care to catch a movie?"

She smiled a bit as she said it. After all, the movie she wished to see couldn't be seen alone, not at all, but with a friend it was much funnier and entertaining.
