Endless rows of wonder, shelves containing the portals to past lives...this was where Sophia wanted to be. Not in the Slums grinding with desperate perverts or wasted rockers, not dressed in revealing Pirate costumes drinking at dirty Halloween parties, and certainly not at some crazy concert headbanging to heavy metal music that she hated in the first place. No no, the quaintness and quiet of the Aldrect City Library was the only thing she would ever need.

Sophia pushed the heavy wooden doors open, loving the way they didn't squeak. As she stepped inside, messenger bag containing a laptop and a few of her old favorites clutched tightly to her chest, she couldn't help but notice the chestnut smell floating around. She inhaled deeply and looked around, happy to be somewhere we the obnoxious teenagers weren't.

Sophia slowly made her way towards the back of the library, trying hard to find some sort of hiding place from the others where she could conduct her research in peace. Call her antisocial if you wanted to, but that was the way she was.

A lone person walked through the streets with a rather blank, bored expression on his face. He barely acknowledged anyone or anything as he passed them, eyes gazing up at the sky and occasionally to the buildings around him. After a while, he stopped and blinked...he was in a library? He barely even remembered opening the door and entering. Noticing that the librarian was getting skittish at the sight of someone hovering by the front door, he moved again, going wherever his feet took him. Eventually he found himself somewhere near the back of the library. Looking at the shelves, he started browsing them, and as he did so, recalled the name of a book he heard someone at home talking about. As he turned a corner, he accidentally thought he was going to look for the book. Of course, it was accidental because it was a very, very bad idea to intend to do something when you are cursed. At least, his kind of curse. See, just as he had that thought and the intention, he tripped, his feet refusing to go where he wanted. Seeing as he was mid-stride during that abrupt halt, he fell forward, crashing into someone. Unconsciously, he quickly steadied himself and gripped the woman's shoulder gently to prevent her falling too. Blinking in surprise, he let go and inclined his head.
"S-sorry, ma'am. Didn't see you there." Well, that was true, though he left out the part about the tripping and the reason behind. That wasn't exactly something that was blurted out to anyone on first contact, was it?

To say Sophia was surprised would be an understatement.

"Oh!" She exclaimed, fighting to win her balance. Just as she was about to lose the short struggle however, a warm hand soon found her shoulder and at once she was steadied again. Her eyes flickered close for the shortest of moments and when she reopened them she was staring straight into the eyes of a boy. A man? A guy. Yes, a guy. A rather peculiar looking fellow at that. He had this sort of look in his eyes that made him seem...not bored but more...distant? It was then she realized he had spoken.

"It's no problem." She said quickly, brushing back a strand of bright red hair that had misplaced itself in the previous scuffle. "You ought to be careful though. Some people wouldn't be so okay with you trying to knock them down and such." Sophia said with a half smile, signaling she was no harm. He seemed so troubled, she just wanted to get that point across.

((My brain lives...for a while, anyway. Sorry for taking so long to respond and I hope you don't mind if I pretend Sophia dropped her bag...))

Zero blinked at the woman as she gathered herself, and a small smirk appeared upon hearing her statement. He figured she was probably trying to show that she wasn't any threat...a reaction he was becoming well accustomed to. It was understandable too, since he apparently had that rough appearance that is usually associated with homeless people, which other people find uncomfortable. He did have a home, but what with the circumstances and all, he couldn't just go there, so he tried to make do with just cleaning himself up as best as possible.
Aside from that, the woman seemed alright. Then he noticed a bag on the ground and picked it up. Automatically, he held it out to her, a reaction he trained himself to do since he couldn't let himself think to give it back. That had happened once or twice...with rather undesirable consequences. He hesitated for a minute before moving to leave, then mentally kicked himself when his feet refused to move, causing him to stumble slightly. Unable to do anything now, he stood there awkwardly, hoping the woman wouldn't take his behaviour the wrong way.

Sophie took her bag, barely paying attention as the strap returned to her shoulder. She was more observing this man's movement...the way he reacted and moved. He seemed sort of out of it, or maybe just a mite nervous. But what about? They had just met. "Thanks." She said simply. "It's a wonder nothing fell out. Usually my whole life is on display once I drop my purse." Sophie said with a little smile.

The man turned to go, but suddenly stopped, making Sophie sort of suspicious. Here she was, all alone in the back of the Library with a pretty shift fellow. Then again, the place was quiet, so if she screamed someone would hear her. She shifted her wait onto another foot. "Is there something you need?"

She wasn't meaning to be rude with the question, just curious. If he wanted to see rude, he would have to wait until she opened her little box of sarcasm.
