"...I see." Psyche finally spoke, after a moment to take in everything Eliza had explained. Something about that did sound pretty odd, and the dragon hoped it wasn't anything serious. "So you want me to come along, yes?" Eliza nodded, which pretty much settled it. "Alright! Just give me a minute to find someone to take care of things in my place, and we can go!"

And they both knew exactly who might be the perfect Digimon for the job.

Despite his willingness to accept babysitting duty, Faolán didn't fail to complain a little bit... Something important was going on, and he wanted to be there as well to protect Eliza. "You sure I can't come with you?" He would ask one more time, with insistence. Too bad it wasn't going to work today. "I'm sure." Eliza placed her hands against his dog snout to try and reassure him. "Don't worry, we'll be fine! Promise."

It wasn't that he didn't trust them, not in the slightest bit. He knew that Psyche would do a wonderful job watching over her. He was just anxious about them going without him...

Leaving him to mostly suck it up and do his best to care for the little ones, Eliza and Psyche left the farm to head for their destination. The source of the unusual readings that they had to check out seemed to be coming from a huge cluster of clouds high up in the sky. These particular clouds weren't like your average type of white collections of water in the sky. These ones actually housed an angelic city, with a huge palace in the center. It was all very fancy and bright stuff. And the entire thing was constantly moving around with no discernible pattern to it.

Unless you really wanted to break your brain, it was best not to think about how it all worked.

Since it was way up in the sky in a heavenly manner, Eliza had to hitch a ride on Psyche's back to get there. Not to mention taking along a jacket, to try and keep warm up in the higher altitude. It felt great to be sailing through the sky like they were right now, that Eliza didn't even mind as much about how the wind whipped around her. (Luckily she wore goggles for this!)

It did take some time for them to fly there, as they still had to find it even after being given some coordinates of its last known location. But when it did come into view in the horizon, they duo prepared themselves as best they could for whatever could happen.

From what they could see, not too much looked super out of the ordinary. Except maybe some of the clouds were looking a little darker than usual... "Is that... Normal?" Eliza wondered. With the wind moving as strongly as it was, it was impossible for her to relay her inquiry to Psyche. But with a brief glance up her way, she had a feeling they both had noticed that strange detail.

Getting even closer, something was starting to seem off about it. But she couldn't say what.

Slowing herself to a smooth glide, Psyche started to drift closer to some of the buildings to check things out. From here, they were able to get a much better look at the state of things. Whatever was going on, the strange blackness was limited to only a few clouds, and was sporadically scattered about. "Hmm..." Psyche thought it rather odd, since from what she could remember, this place was supposed to strictly have a white, silver, and gold theme going on.

This blackness was totally marring that pristine landscape.

Hmm, indeed. Eliza was super curious now, and pulled out her special device that she always carried with her. Fitting in her hand, she lifted it up to scan the area. A hologram emerged from the screen on the front, where lots of text and a radar came to view. Now was the time to investigate further.

Based on what the headquarters had gathered, and where her radar was indicating, the strongest point of this anomaly was coming from one of the temples nearby. Eliza pointed over towards it. "Over there."

Nodding in response, Psyche banked towards it.

With a few powerful flaps of her wings, the pair had successfully landed with no trouble at all. Eliza dismounted and landed safely onto the clouds, which had some solid substance to it that there was no worry of falling right through down into the empty sky. It was unnerving through, looking down and seeing just how dark it was.

That darkness seemed to be creeping into the temple itself as well, as the intricately designed floor and walls were dull and gray. Or, based on the even crazier readings going on now that they were this close, was it seeping out from the temple?

No use idling about out here, as whatever they needed to find was definitely inside. With as much caution as they could muster, they began to walk in.

It was even darker inside, that they had to find and pry a lantern off from a pillar to see deeper inside. This temple was one of the larger ones, that if it weren't for the readings coming out the way they did, it likely would've taken forever for them to find what they were looking for.

The primary source was hidden in the central chamber, where an ancient mural depicting creatures of legend and their servants was carved into the wall. It was also here that things seemed... darker? Eliza rubbed at her eyes furiously, as she could've swore something was messing with her vision. It didn't seem to really help.

It seemed safe enough to continue though, so she started walking up some stairs leading up to an elevated platform. Psyche hesitantly followed her, with eyes darting around to ensure there was nothing hiding.

Reaching the top of the steps, Eliza held out the lantern to try and get a better look, but it seemed even worse up here. Just barely she managed to spot a large brazier on the center of the platform. The fire it once contained extinguished some time ago, based on how cool it was around here. In its place, it looked like something mist-like was drifting out, in a fashion similar to dry ice. Lifting up her device to it, she was shocked to see the screen go beserk.

This was it.

Following behind her, Psyche peered over to also see the strange substance. It was a rather small amount coming out at the moment, but it still didn't look good in her eyes.

"So... Now what?" Psyche finally asked nervously, breaking the lengthy silence. Eliza had become lost in thought at their discovery, and was momentarily startled. "I, uh... I'm not sure, to be honest." She had never seen anything like this before. The readings were really difficult for her to decipher, as the text continually shifted before her eyes at a rapid pace.

"It... might be best if we gathered the data, and bring it back to Central for analysis." Eliza mumbled, still uncertain. "Maybe a sample of whatever that stuff is as well?" If she could figure out how to do that, anyway. Did she have any containers on hand?

Psyche grunted in acknowledgement, but honestly the dragon was very suspicious of that black stuff, and wanted nothing to do with it. "I'll... go take another look around then. Please be careful."

"Okay." She replied distractedly, placing a finger on the hologram emitted from her device to scroll through a digital inventory and see if she had something to retrieve that sample first.

Not entirely sure if she had totally heard her, Psyche was reluctant to leave her alone. But they needed to be sure nobody would come around to sneak up on her. It would be bad if a wild Digimon were to get the jump on them suddenly while Eliza was in the middle of her investigation.

Due to where they were, these temples were typically filled with Digimon that were just as strong as Psyche was. So scouting out the area was a really important task. Slowly she made her way back over to a nearby corridor, and started walking. It was pretty dang dark though... Having large talons and no thumbs to speak of made it pretty inconvenient for her. She would've loved to have a light source of her own!

Meanwhile it took a few moments, but Eliza had a eureka moment when she found and tapped on something in her list. Causing a glass jar filled with a white liquid to appear. Quickly, she grabbed it out of the air.

It was going to be a waste of perfectly good milk, but the investigation took priority.
