The day had started just like any other, but it had soon turned into one of her favorite situations. She got word that someone had ended up here further to a beating that seemed to hide more than met the eye. She had been efficient and professional in her carrying out her job, but now, sitting idly by the station, her mind whirled with all sorts of possibilities...
Mysteries and police cases always got her imagination running wild. Did he owe money? Had he threatened a mob? Had he dealt in some questionable dealings, making him an enemy of powerful criminals? Surely, with all the circumstances, it couldn't have simply been a fight between drunken folks. There had to be
something behind it all. Oh, how she wished she could find out!
... And maybe, she just might.
"Oh, hello! Welcome!" she greeted the woman, a bit of excitement in her voice, and a curious shine in her brown eyes. The others had spread the word that a detective would be passing by to investigate what had happened. Now, if she just kept quiet and low, she could...
"Yes, absolutely," she added as she got up from her chair, and started leading the detective down the hall, towards the room of the patient she wished to meet, a petite, but relatively tall, nurse leading the way.
Before long, they were by the room. Considering his injuries, they had decided to keep the patient's room close to the station, just in case something happened.
"I have to warn you Mr. Jameson is still in recovery," she warned the detective.
"So please don't push him too hard. Stressing him could aggravate his state and make him plummet." Did she want this detective to squeeze every last juicy mystery bits out of this patient? Absolutely. But she was also a nurse
first, and a closeted, amateur sleuth second. The safety and well-being of her patients came first.
"But if you need anything," she added, as she tried to keep the excited, mischievous glint in her eyes,
"I'll be right here," she said, pointing to the station.
"You just need to ask for Agatha."
