Gawain pranced into the Holy City, a look of pure delight and wonder on his face. He sat down for a moment and took it all in with his vibrant, blue eyes, then turned to look over his shoulder at his companion.
"Come on, Imbri! Eh? What's the matter with you?"
The Nyghtmare was taking small, tentative steps into the city, her nostrils flaring with her anxiety. 'I don't like it here,' her voice said in the Sygriff's mind.
"Aww, you're just like that because you don't know anything about the Triumvirate! The people here are supposed to be really nice," he encouraged her, slowing down to walk at her pace.
'I don't know about that...'

Kanegoto (Kane) and Aurora Borealis (Aurora)

Sitting on the back of a peacer fellox, Kane shuffled nervously. She was not nervous because of the height, though the fellox was lying on a low rooftop in the busy city. Instead, she was nervous about how the citizens would treat her. Her kind was known to predict death, and many thought they caused it...though, for some, that may well be true. For her, however, it was not. In the end, prejudice is a powerful thing. She sighed, then perked up as something caught her eye. A Nyghtmare? It seemed nervous too. Kane wasn't fond of Nyghtmares only when it came to her abilities. Because the spirit horses were like...well, spirits, her ability was often messed up, giving her the feeling like they were either always dying, or dead. Pushing away the uncomfort, she leaped down from the fellox's back, despite its surprise, and made her way down to the street below. Stopping next to the Nyghtmare, she mewed, her voice like a soft but loud bell, even amidst the noise of their surroundings. Behind her, the fellox walked up nervously, not understanding what had gotten her companion so excited.

Imbrium, somewhat startled by the new creatures who seemingly came out of nowhere, phased out slightly and became a bit transparent. Gawain, however, didn't seem to care, as long as he was meeting new people. That, or he was just incredibly naive. Imbri thought it was the latter.
Gawain looked down the little cat-like animal and smiled. "Hi there! I'm Gawain, and this is Imbrium. This is our first time here. Who are you?"

Kane mewed a bit, and looked up at her companion. The fellox sighed a bit and smiled. "Hello, I am Aurora and this is Kanegoto." she spoke in a melodic voice, as if she were singing each sylable. Kane cleared her throat and mewed again impatiently. "Ah yes, she preferrs to be called Kane." Aurora said, trying not to laugh. Kane jumped up onto the fellox's back and purred, watching the two before her. She put a paw on Aurora's head and the fellox nodded. "She wishes to know why it is you are so nervous." she directed the statement at the Nyghtmare. Aurora blinked after, and wondered if that was the reason that Kane had ran off to meet them. She was rather relieved as well, for if that was the reason, then they weren't about to die. That would be the last thing they needed in a holy place such as this.

Gawain was a little mesmerized by the lovely Fellox and her enchanting voice. It took a moment for him to realize she had asked a question. He looked up at Imbri, who had sensed they were not in danger after all and had shifted back to her normal, solid form. Imbrium trotted closer to the two strangers and lowered her head down to Kane's level.
'If you haven't already noticed,' the three animals heard in their minds, 'I am not a very holy creature. I am afraid I am not entirely welcome here. The atmosphere makes me uneasy.'
Gawain put a paw on his friend's side. "It's all right, Imbri. If anything bad happens, I'll protect you."
The Nyghtmare whinnied lightly in what seemed to be a chuckle. 'I doubt it, but I appreciate your offer.'

Kane smiled, tilted her head and mewed again after Imbri told her the reason for her nervousness. Aurora gave a look of confusion to her companion and then nodded. "Kane's kind is thought to cause death. It's not true, of course, but she's still not as welcome here as others like myself would be. In a way, you're in the same boat." she smiled at the two, her voice still ringing through the air though her lips had already stopped moving. Kane mewed yet again and Aurora inclined her head. "She asks what it is that brings you here, if you are so unwelcomed?" she smiled, and Kane curled her tails around herself before purring at the two ahead of her.

Gawain grinned broadly and could barely contain himself.
"We're here to learn about the Triumvirate!" he blurted out. "I've heard things about them, but I don't know much. And Imbri doesn't know the first thing about them, so I thought I'd bring her along."
She snorted. 'I came to make sure you don't make a fool of yourself.'
The Sygriff stuck his tongue out at her.
"What about you guys? Why are you here?"

Aurora spoke first, cutting off a mew from Kane. "We don't know why we're here actually. Echo, one of our mistresses, told us we needed to get out more and said we should come here. Kane didn't agree of course, but defying Echo or one of the others is not a good idea..." she trailed off. Kane stopped purring and frowned, then tilted her head at the name. Triumvirate? She was sure she had heard that somewhere. From one of the clones...Isabel maybe. Or maybe it was mentioned in one of Vam's rants about Isabel...but what was it? She looked up curiously and mewed again. Aurora nodded happily in response. "Yes, yes, can we come along?" she asked. Kane looked down at Aurora. So she recognized the name as well...why was it avoiding her?

Gawain hopped happily from foot to foot. "Sure! Although I'm not sure where to go... I guess we should start at the city square."
He started along the street towards the center of the town. "We have a, um, mistress, too... Her name is Ana. She's real nice!"
'So you keep saying. I still don't trust her.'
"Imbri, you don't trust anyone!"
'You can never be too careful.'
Gawain sighed.

Kane gave a small noise that sounded something like a giggle at Imbri's statements. She didn't know why, she just found them slightly funny. Then she looked down as Aurora spoke. "Oh, Ana, that's a pretty name. We actually have more than just Echo. She's what we call an 'Area Mistress'. She has athority over our area, the forest. Then there's Vam and Pam, that watch over the entire home, and Jaden, the Master." she explained. Kane mewed, and Aurora corrected herself. "Oh yes, Jaden is a girl, but she prefers to be called Master. There are other Area Mistresses too, though only those four have power over us two." she said with a smile. Then she noticed a large street ahead. "Oh, maybe that would lead to the square?" she murmured, and Kane lowered herself so that some of the more Holy looking people could not see her.

The group continued on towards the square, chatting pleasantly.
"Oh," said Gawain. "Well, there's just Ana over us. There are two others that report to her--the Harvest Goddess, and the lady who guards the Moonlight Temple, but we're not under their care."
'The Temple Guardian is actually more to my taste,' Imbri thought-spoke.
"Anywayz, here we are! Where should we go now?"
In front of them, the city opened up with buildings rising high into the sky. Church towers dotted the sky, and a bell tolled somewhere in the distance. A pair of doves flew past them and disappeared from view.
"Wow... It sure is pretty!"
'I must agree with you on that.'

((Sorries, I didn't notice your post...I'm still getting used to the 'new post' thing on the new forums))

Aurora nodded as she heard of Ana and the other two, and giggled for no reason. Then she tilted her head. "I wonder what it's like to not have so many above you in...um, rank I guess you would call it. I'm thankful I'm not one of Jaden's Shadow creatures. They have many more above them, so in a way, they are of low ranking yet are still rather powerf..." she was abruptly cut off by a hiss from Kane, and realized she was on the verge of rambling...and spilling some of Jaden's secrets. Scolding herself mentally, she recalled the stern order that Echo had given them when they became part of the home...'You must NEVER tell of Jaden's secrets. Her, enemies, I suppose you could call them, have ways of getting ahold of them. Only if you feel that you could trust them with your own deepest secrets, and possibly your life, may you tell them. To protect you and the secrets, we have only told you what you need to know. That was only a small fragment of the speech, and when Aurora had to endure it, the poor fellox had to go through it alone. Kane had two or three others with her, so she wasn't as stressed. She snapped back to attention as they entered the square. She heard Gawain comment on the beauty and she nodded, silent. On her back, Kane sat up and purred then started mewing. Then realizing that Aurora wasn't going to respond, she hissed and jumped onto the ground, trotting to Imbri. She placed her paw gently on the Nyghtmare's leg and focused. "What...next?" her thoughts floated through her paw to whisper faintly into Imbri's mind. Her voiced sounded even more like a bell comming from her mind, so much so, it was hard to understand the words when they were as soft as this.

Chrisanthium and Moss

Chrisanthium darts through the legs of the dense crowd with waves of muttering and grumbling behind her. Moss tries her best to keep up with her with out running between peoples legs. "Please wait Chrissy. You are able to run faster than me." Crisanthium sighs turning to sit and wait for Moss to catch up. "Hurry up. We've got places to go and churches to see." As Moss runs she slips on a puddle and falls into a humans foot which kicks her forward into  Chrisanthium's feet. Chrisanthium is furious and begins to yell at the pedestrian. "What is your problem buddy? Don't 'cha look where you walk? Come back here and apologize to my friend!" The man keeps on walking ignoring her shouting. Moss looks up at her "Chrissy I'm fine. Please stop yelling in human, the others are starting to stare. Not to mention I can't understand a word your saying." Chrisanthium huffs. "I don't care that they're stareing, let them stare. Jerks should be yelled at."

Imbri looked down at the little cat touching her leg with a guarded glint of affection in her eyes. Gawain would have recognized it, having been at the receiving end of that look often through their years together, but he wasn't paying attention.
'I have no plans for this visit.'
Suddenly, someone started shouting in the crowd. Gawain's ears perked up and he trotted over to the two who seemed to be the cause of the outburst.
"What's going on?" he asked politely, wondering if he could help in some way.

Kane tilted her head at Imbri, then she too heard the commotion in the crowd. Just as she began to follow, she froze as she saw a girl staring at her with her mouth hanging open. The girl whimpered and clung to her oblivious mother as the woman turned onto a street to get away from some pushy merchants. Fur still bristling, Kane quietly slunk back to Aurora, burying herself into the fellox's back. Comming back to reality, Aurora first noticed Gawain walking over to two pets nearby. Slowly, she glanced at Imbri and followed. "Gawain? What are you doing? Imbri and Kane in a crowd in a place like this?" she whispered to him, sounding more like she was humming than talking. On her back, Kane shifted uncomfortably as she felt some closer people look at her curiously.
