Emerald followed her new friend when she had taken off running. It wasn't safe, and the venom knew they wouldn't be able to out run the creature for long. She was recalculation as she ran. There was always a chance that it would be hard for the  lumbering beast to be slow on turns, so they could just duck under it and take off, but that was quite risky. she was still trying to come up with a good plan when Jenni fell.
"Jenni?" Emerad shouted. Ever loyal beside her, Iggy made a shocked croak, instictively summoning his flashlight and shining it down after the consept. He made more churrs, and by the sound of it, he was trying to say Jenni's name. Poor guy.
Glancing behind her, Emerald saw that they had left the monster pretty far behind, so desided she had time. Jenni was trying to talk. "We can't hear you!" Emerald called, "Wait! We're gonna try and make it down there!"
You may call, you may call
But the little black cats won't hear you.
The little black cats are maddened
By the bright green light of the moon;
They are whirling and running and hiding,
They are wild who were once so confiding,
They are crazed when the moon is riding
You will not catch the kittens soon.
They care not for saucers of milk,
They think not of pillows of silk;
Your softest, crooningest call
Is less than the buzzing of flies.
They are seeing more than you see,
They are hearing more than you hear,
And out of the darkness they peer.
With a goblin light in their eyes!

"E-Emerald?  What?  C'mon...  I can't hear you...  Are you there?"  Jenni looked around.  It was the same.  The entire room was exactly the same as the one they found the creature in.  The candles, the benches, the shattered chandiler, exept, now that she had fallen through, she could see all around.  The end that they couldn't see before, in the other room, was a symbol.  Not just one, but five, forming a word:

begin.

She didn't know what it meant, but it must be important.  She made a mental picture, then noticed something on the floor beneath it.  It was small, so small as to seem innocent, curled up in a ball exactly centered beneath the symbols.  She looked at it for a second, seeing its body rise and fall with the even breathing of its sleep.  It was... cute?  Whatever it was, she didn't know what it was.  (Obviously)  She wanted to take a closer look, but something drew her back, a deep feeling telling her to split and run.  "Emerald...?"  she whispered.  "Where are you?"

Jenni called something again, but Emerald couldn't hear. There had to be somewere down to her friend. Squinting into the shadows, she could make out a few wooden beams withen jumping distance, just barely. She could leap to those and that would make it a shorter jump to the bottom. The venom duraculi stepped back a few steps. "Follow my lead, Iggy." She said, then ran forward and leaped towards the wood beneith her. Barely making it and haveing to scramble atop it, she bit her lip to keep from cursing as she felt Iggy's claws grip her tail. "Ok.  Well, Igs," She whisptered to him, bracing herself for another leap, "I'd start to worry if you missed the bottom on this jump." Then she launched herself off the beam and landed with cat's grace on the ground.
She heard Iggy land behind her and right himself, and saw, just barely, Jenni infrount of her, staring at a small curled creature. "What is it?"

"Shhhhhhh!"  Jenni said, looking with goo-goo eyes at the baby creature.  Then she whispered, "I don't know what it is, but it's cute and small, and oooo, I just want to hug it.  But I think it's dangerous.  Look at the wall it's sleeping by.  You're smart...  what's it say?  Do you think that maybe symbols like this were in the lightless room?  Do you think this creature is a baby of the other?"  Just then, she remembered the other.  Hey, where is the big one?  I think this room is sound-proof...  I'm sure it's still coming...  What do  we do, Emerald?"

Jenni mentioned the odd symbols and Emerald instinctively turned to look. It was odd script. None that Emerald had seen. Then again, her knoledge was not that of tongues. She would have to ask Jinn about it. she was listening to Jenni wout of one ear, while the concept ranted on. And there was a link. "Jenni. If this is a child of the other creature, we must get out of here! The parent would want to protect it, and see us as a threat!"
Iggy churred, startle in his voice, and turned to run. Emerald could see the calcualations going in his mind, where was the nearest exit, what was the shortest rought. It mirrored her own mind, as she was close behind her little robot.

"Shhh!  Whisper.  I'm right behind you.  I think you woke it up.  Let's go,"  Jenni whispered, following close behind them.  It was true, the baby was rousing in its sleep with the noise of Iggy's churr.  It yawned, and Jenni was getting nervous.  "Emerald, I think this door is locked, but the lock is on the other side.  What do we do?  Go back out the ceiling?  It's too high.  maybe if we climbed on the chandilier...  it should be high enough, that huge thing.  But no way will we be able to do that before the lil' one wakes up and starts wailing.  Should we at least try...?"  Jenni went over to the chandilier, which was large and gold, with 'branches' that dipped and curved, coming back up with candles on the ends.  Yes, it would be hard to climb, but if it was their only chance...  She pounced on it with the all her might, and held on to the slippery branches, etched her way tward the middle, and began to climb that.  with the debree and ruble on the top and around it from her fall, she was able to just barely get to where she could pounce on one of those beams.  Again, she pulled back and let go, slamming a sturdy wooden beam.  When she balanced herself, she half whispered half called, "O.K, c'mon up!  We better hurry!"

Emerald nearly snapped at Jenni at the reminder to be quiet. She quite knew what was needed of her in this situation. They would get out of there. Okay. She'd admit she was freaking out a little. But how often was the young mathmatition actually out getting chased by  beasts? Very rarely.
Jenni had suggested climbing the chandelier. Stupid, Stupid. It would be very difficult to climb, especially with paws, and it would take them right back up towards the monster. They would have better luck and a faster time picking the lock. But Jenni was already climbing, and Iggy made it quickly, though not at all gracefully, past the concept, using his small claws.
Cursing under her breath, emerald ran to the fallen light fixture and began her ascent.

Jenni waited patiently for Emerald to catch up.  "Hey, I think it's gone, or atleast stopped...  We'd better get a move on.  Um, that way?"  Darn, she thought.  Why does this thing have to be so big?  She started off in the direction she assumed was the exit, being more careful than she had been before (obviously).  "Well, I think that maybe we should stop for a while," she said after a while of feeling and careful walking.  "What time is it?"  That was the first time she had thought about time.  Fox may be wandering where she was, and she was getting hungry, too.  She stopped for a second to look out a hole in the roof to see where the sun was at.  The funny thing is, there was no sun.  "Emerald, I think it's night time!  How long have we been here?!"

Now that the monster had stopped and thus proved no threat at the moment, Emerald was back to her normal self, and she could tell too. She felt the normal uncaring interest replace the terror. Now that it wasn't in danger, her life was back to being one big math problem, so to say. That was the way she liked it, and she hoped the chase wouldn't resume.
Jenni suggested rest, getting an instant churring agreement from Iggy. The poor thing. As a robot, he didn't get tired, but he sure as heck didn't like running in his glitchy state. Then Jenni looked up and exclaimed that it was night, and that surely Fox would be looking for her.
Emerald glanced up, and boredly noted that the consept was correct. She didn't have the urgency that Jenni did. No one would be worried about her or even miss her unless they needed help with something math related. But most at the Meadow were either playful, careless children or brainless barbarians, so they didn't need her help often. It wa mostly ever just Ignatious having a glitch that needed her. But he was right here with all the tools she'd need if that happened. She could take care of her self and every knew it. "So I take it you havta leave soon? Do you seriously have a cerfew? You must be older than a small kit." The venom duraculi said, though perhaps more coldly than she had intended.
Iggy made an odd clicking noise and turned back to where the monster was. He made no alarm though, so perhaps he was sencing that the beast had actually stopped its rampage, seeing that it's child was left alone and unharmed.

"Well, I don't have a curfew or anything, but it's just,  I'm usually not gone so long and Fox tends to get a bit... excited."  It did hurt a little when Emerald said that, but Jenni didn't mind.  She'd heard worse.  "Well,as long as we're here, and I'm tired, I think I'll go back down to the first floor and sleep on a pile of sand or something.  With all the exitement today, sleep would be my top priority now."  She looked for a hole and slipped on through, landing on the ground below with cat-like grace.  "You outta sleep, too," she called on up to Emerald.  "Surely a brain like yours needs all the rest it can get."  She chuckled at her own joke, then curled up on the cold, stone floor.  She closed her eyes, waiting for sleep to wash over her, and for that same dream to come again, just like it did every night.

Emerald watched as the consept lept to the lower floor, and rolled her eyes at the other's joke. "A brain like mine has learned secrets of how to survive without such time consuming practices." The venom couldn't help but reply, though it wasn't true in the least.
Glancing around up on the level she was still on, the duraculi found that her little robot had curled into a ball and put himself on sleep mode. His round eyes were open yet dim, and to anyone else it my have had a creepy look to it. But Emerald was unbugged, and curled up around him. Head on her paws, she stared boredly at the wall, trying to find the pattern in it's fractures.

The next morning, (or whenever Jenni actually woke up), she felt hungry.  There wasn't much to eat in the ruins of a Cathedral, so she wasn't quite sure what to do.  "Emerald?"  she called.  No answer.  Jenni tried to get back up there, and luckily succeeded.  She saw that Emerald was still sleeping, so she decided to go back to the bottom floor and see what she could find.
As she looked around, she saw that the room wasn't much lighter than before.  Not very helpful when exploring.  She decided to go back up to the top floor, like she had just a few seconds ago, to wake up Emerald.   When she finally got there, She (carefully) walked up to Emerald and tapped her.  "Wake up..." she said.

((Sorry it's been so long.))

Emerald woke with a start at Jenni's action, and almost attacked the consept before she placed herself. One of the reasons those at the Meadow never bothered waking her up. It was an instict that she had long forgotten where she got it, but it was there alright.
Shaking off the odd fear that had snapped her awake moments before, she opened her mouth. "What?"
But before waiting for an answer, she turned to bring Iggy from his sleep mode.
Never needing sleep for energy, Ignatious was much more happy about the wake up, and churred at the sight of his two duraculi friends, almost a feline pur.

"Oh, sorry.  It's just, there's no food, and I don't know about you, but I'm not wandering around here by myself anymore.". She blushed, kind of like she did before, where it was hard to tell.  She held her breath, really hoping Emerald wouldn't get too mad at her.  Of course, she had no reason to worry about the little robot, he seemed perfectly happy with where he was.  So, Jenni waited patiently for Emerald to respond.

Food? That would probably be a good idea. Emerald didn't feel hungry. But then again, she rarely did. But she hadn't eaten all day yesterday. And now it was today. She relied on food. She knew for a fact that brains don't work on empty stoumachs. The brain needed energy from food. And Emerald only had her mind, her intelligence. She was slightly smaller than average with no strength to speak of. "Yeah. Let's go find something." She said, realising it must have already started taking effect since she took that long to come to the reasonings of her conclusion. Without a second though, she turned to search, Iggy ever loyaly trotting behind her with his odd limp. She would have to fix that at some point.
