Moving only her eyes, Lantern sharply glared at the other kuhna...it did not seem to be quite...mortal. Perhaps it was, and it was only...different, or perhaps it wasn't and only took on mortal form. Somewhat like herself. She only knew two things for sure about this one, and those were that the kuhna was not of her kind, and that Lantern did not like her. Not at all.
She didn't even know why she was so irritated by the creature. It was not like she was particularly wrong about anything, and had every right to dislike Lantern's presence, but yet the ferrikoon formed creature still disliked...it. Yes, Lantern thought to herself, this kuhna was definitely an "it"...it did not deserve "she" or "her". It was it. And it was annoying...so Lantern would ignore her.

Turning her attention back to the kuhna she had originally set eyes on, she recalled hearing the poor critter say something about the book. Lantern looked down at the book and back to the kuhna with an amused smirk. Then she flipped the book in the air, in the kuhna's general direction. If the kuhna failed to catch it, it would probably- well, Lantern didn't really care. Aside from satisfying her need to be entertained, she cared next to nothing about these creatures. And by the way, she had noticed, with immense satisfaction, that she had hit a nerve in stating the form of the wraith earlier.
"You are quite the strange little critter, aren't you? So young, weak, and vulnerable, and yet you come to such a place as this. Makes one wonder, doesn't it?"

Since she had surfaced supposedly from the floor, the moon had been hidden behind clouds, but now it revealed itself again, its light casting light shadows across the room. Someone with perceptible eyes would proabably now notice that the ferrikoon was strange indeed.

For Lantern had no shadow.

Mitternacht bristled at being ignored and growled loudly. "Do not ignore me you beast!" She screeched and shadows wrapped themselves around her until finally a human looking creature seemingly took her place. "I vill not be ignored by the likes of you! You vill leave the child alone right now or you vill be sent to hell!" Her eyes glowed red and her waist length black hair swirled around her. She snarled at Latern and glared death at her.

"Hmm... Is it or is it not empty..." Sakura stepped around in the dark. Her paws gracefully bound over things in her path. Her twin lit tails filled a small area around her in an eerie pink light. She muttered complaints and curses each time the walked into a cobweb. A long, eerie silence filled the chilly air. Sakure sniffed, sneezing.
"Gah..." she wiped her nose, sneezing again.

Isabella squeaked as her book flew through the air, and darted forward, paws extended to catch it. The book sailed right through her outstretched paws and hit the ground with a dull thud. "Oh no," she breathed, crouching next to the book and checking it for damage. Two of the pages were almost ripped in half, so she gingerly closed the novel, making a mental note to repair it when she returned home. Standing with the book in one hand, she pinned her ears back and glared at Lantern. "I'm sorry, what did you say you wanted again?" she said coldly.

Benedicto had not failed to notice that Lantern lacked a shadow in the moonlight, and while he was impressed by Isabella's spunk, wondered if he should intervene. Before he could decide on a course of action, however, he was distracted by the sound of Sakura's sneeze echoing faintly in the cathedral. Twisting his neck, the Hollowheart peered through the moonlight, trying to identify the source of the disturbance.

Lantern watched the young kuhna with a slightly amused look as she hovered over her fallen book. That look became more obvious as Isabella glared at her, almost like she would laugh. Almost. It was then that she heard the other kuhna screech and felt her change shape. Without looking in the woman's direction, Lantern wondered if that form was supposed to be more intimidating. Thus, she floated down to the ground as her body itself went black and began to morph into a human figure. Hardly making a sound as she stepped towards Isabella in a graceful but arrogant fashion, she tilted her head and made a fake pout.
"Dear child," she cooed sinisterly as she put a long, razor-sharp talon of a fingernail under Isabella's chin, "What makes you think I want anything?"

At the same time, she heard Mitternacht's threat. Her head snapped up and she glared at the woman with an oddly sinister smile. Raising her taloned hand to wave in the air as if in some form of mockery.
"Or you vill be sent to hell," she mimicked coldly, "Really? Now what if I told you that the likes of you cannot kill me? What would you do then?"
Lantern then tipped back her head and let out a dark, cold laugh. Unlike the hollowheart, she'd not noticed the sneeze.

"Easy. Call a priest." Mittrnacht meant it too. Most creatures could be banished to hell by priests. That much she knew. "Besides I do not need to kill you to send you to hell. Is vhat excorsims for." She knew she had to stall the creature for a little while longer if she hoped to save the innocent Isabella. "Do you even know vhat I am? If you don't know, then how you know I cannot send you to hell, hmm? You don't! You just like to bluff! Like a stupid lower class demon. You need to make us fear you for you to hurt us, don't you?" She huffed in derision at Latern. If the creature wanted to play games of words then Mitetrnacht would end it quickly with harsher words.

Sakura listen for any signs of being heard. Nothing. She continued onward, being careful of any cobwebs. Soon a patch of light came into veiw. So did other creatures. She stayed at the edge of the moonlight.

Isabella could not prevent herself from shuddering a little when Lantern's claw touched her chin. She looked over at Mitternacht, more grateful than ever for the confident Kuhna's presence. Her own confidence somewhat restored by Mitternacht's words, she warily gazed into the presently human eyes in front of her. "Why else would you be here?" she asked. "Don't tell me you just came here for kicks."

Benedicto no longer detected any sound from the direction of the sneeze he had so clearly heard earlier, so he turned his attention back to the present situation. Attentive though he was, the Hollowheart was careful not to interfere. The demonic ferrikoon did not seem to be taking any notice of him, and he was quite content with keeping it that way. It was not in his nature to act out of anything other than self interest unless absolutely necessary.

Lantern's shape wavered for a moment and her eyes seemed to grow darker as she bristled with fury. She had first scoffed at the creature's ignorance of it's own society, but had taken offense at one particular remark. A low-class demon!? How dare she!? Didn't the kuhna woman know who she was!? (Of course, she did realize that many people in this world were sadly out of the loop of things, but still.) The woman was obviously a creature of the night (though exactly how, she did not know), and therefore, the woman should be answering to her. Low-class!? She'd show her what low-class was really like. A faint glow appeared at her back, noticeable only because of the dark around them. Her fury continued to rise and she stepped towards the woman, her pale skin growing darker and the light growing brighter. She winced at it for a brief moment, so small and quick that only one with a keen eye would have noticed.

And then Isabella spoke. Almost instantly the light dropped to a subtle, almost unnoticeable glow and her appearance returned to normal. Turning back to the younger kuhna, she paused a moment to rein in her anger.
"For kicks, darling? Oh no, I'm here to meet someone," she started, but after pausing to think about it, she gave a dainty shrug, "Although, I suppose I am just...killing time with people like you." After a second, she found that she could not simply ignore that thing that had insulted her. Her! Briefly, her form had darkened a bit, only to fade as she turned back to the woman.
"As for the likes of you...a priest? Really? I don't think you understand what I am. It is my kind that send priests running for their electricity and candles. It is my kind that make them afraid to stand in a dark room. It is my kind that gets rid of priests, not the other way around. As for what you are, I suppose I could ask you the same question myself. Because there are very few people in this world that can kill my kind, and though you might've had a chance say, a week ago, I know you cannot kill me. Also, I don't need your fear. It just makes things more...fun sometimes." The woman's attempt to draw Lantern's attention had worked...for the most part. Part of her mind kept tabs on the kuhna beside her, but the hollowheart had been all but forgotten. Unbeknownst to the kuhna woman, this was actually quite a feat that she could (if she knew) talk about with pride. Creatures like Lantern don't easily get distracted from their surroundings.

Isabella's eyes were wide and her pupils were dilated after seeing Lantern's anger, even though it was not fully directed at her. For several moments she was silent, unable to think of anything to say. Eventually she swallowed and asked tentatively, "Who are you meeting here?" The brick kuhna's overactive imagination was already conjuring disturbing images of the sorts of beings who would meet with this frightening ferrikoon.

Imperceptible as Lantern's flinch at the light had been, Benedicto's keen eyes did not miss it. His curiosity was peaked, and he wondered why this confident and seemingly invincible ferrikoon had briefly shrunk from the light. For that matter, he wondered where the light had even come from. Yet he sensed that it was not yet time for him to interfere so he remained still and silent.

"I am the great Sari Kedi! I have been blessed by Gott himself to rid the vorld of scum like you! I am a vampire that feeds upon evil und darkness!" With a flash of light she transformed into her true form and bared her fangs. "I grow tired of this vord fight! Now fight like the vermin you are!" She drew her sword that hung about her hip and brandished it towards Lantern.
