So far, he had taken on jobs without violence. He had helped to find lost children, for example, or protect something. Most times, nothing had happened. He was scared how Egbert would react to an attack. It would probably trigger memories.

Khorshed still felt guilty for not being there that day. Of course he knew it wasn't his fault. But seeing Egbert like that and having lost his parents was horrible. It reminded him of his failure every day. Maybe he should have stayed with his family more.

[Shieba]

His parents had been so proud, though. They were happy that Khorshed had found his calling. They were also happy that Egbert had ambitions to follow his older brother. Being a knight was dangerous. It also was very honorable, though, and Taosigs were honorable creatures.

[Shieba]

Khorshed missed his parents. Sometimes, he heard Egbert crying in the night for them, too. That, above all, showed him that Egbert remembered. Maybe Egbert only acted like an animal to stop the pain. After all, animals weren't as emotionally bound as smarter beings.

That made dealing with Egbert easier. Khorshed still loved him so much. He had also sworn to his parents in the afterlife that he would care for Egbert. A knight always honored his promises, too. Khorshed had made his without thinking twice.

This was why he entered Lya Pointa, too. Egbert just marched on. Khorshed wasn't sure if Egbert knew why they were here. "Are you looking for the lost bag, brother?" he asked. The answer he got was another grunt.

He had gotten one, though, so he took it as a "Yes". Egbert seemed indeed to look for something. Ever so often, he stopped and looked around. Old, rotten furnitures were lying around. Both Taosigs looked under them.

[Shieba]

There were also lots of fallen pillars and dirt. Khorshed wondered why anyone would rest here. He doubted that the traveller had gone far into this place. It was really creepy. Egbert seemed unimpressed, though.

[Shieba]

As a knight, Khorshed also didn't want to be afraid. Yet, every step on the stone floor made loud noises. Surely, they would be heard by anything living in here. Hopefully, this was not a trap. Khorshed and Egbert had only met the traveller on his way looking for help.

He had seemed genuine, though. It had been an older man. Khorshed tried to remember him as Egbert kept looking around. The man definitely hadn't been a warrior. However, no one could rule out that it had been a mage.

Khorshed was bad at sensing magic power, as was Egbert. It was one of his weaknesses. In the end, Taosigs weren't meant for magic. Khorshed could fire some light, too, but it was weak. He had been the worst in magic class.

[Shieba]

Sometimes, he thought that Egbert was better at it than him. Egbert seemed to rely on his instincts more. Animals had fine instincts, after all. Maybe he could also find the belongings that way? Then again, Taosigs weren't dogs.

Egbert did seem to walk rather determined, though. He seemed to have a goal in mind. "Did you sense something?" Khorshed hurried after him. Egbert led them further into the cathedral.

They had left the door open to have more light. However, the sun was going down quickly. They had taken longer for the walk here than anticipated. Khorshed didn't want to be stuck here in the dark. It got darker by the minute already.

However, that was partly because they went further away from the entrance. Most of the cathedral windows were too dirty to let light through. Some were broken, but the waning light didn't even reach the ground. It was enough to cast creepy shadows, though. Khorshed tried to listen to every sound, but Egbert was loud enough to make that difficult.
