"Are you sure this is a good place for a family outing?" fretted the Myu Reaper, resting quite happily on her mate's head. "Wouldn't Terrace Park be a nicer place?"

"Skull, dear, didn't you think it odd that she somehow has ice powers like I do, despite her species usually not having those abilities? You yourself said that the spirits here are safe for most to encounter." The Malphas tilted his head up slightly, making sure not to make her fall off

"Yes...but I did say most."

"It'll be okay. She has us to protect her."

"Yayyyyyy!" squealed the Baby Doom Kitty, heedless of her parent's concerns. She herself was having too much fun dashing across the stone floor, her cloth booties temporarily forgotten. Patches of ice appeared in her wake, but she only had even more fun sliding across them.

There were few places Meeko had been in Evelon, and this was not one of them. The ruins around him were very unfamiliar and he was certain to watch where he was stepping. But he had read that there could be spirits here; spirits that he could possibly interact with. He wasn't sure how true that was, but he was willing to take his chances.

He had recently discovered his ability to contact spirits, and he was eager to try it again. As he walked around he wondered if he would find any today. His first experience had been pure accident, but he'd never gone looking for any before. It made him nervous, really.

Meeko wandered around the cathedral for a little while and didn't encounter anyone. But at one point he heard voices from up ahead. At first he was afraid and then excited. What if they were voices of spirits? He turned the corner, but instead of seeing auras of spirits, he saw three strange creatures. He only knew what kind of creatures they were from books.

What appeared to be the youngest of them was sliding towards him on the ice she was creating. Having never seen such a thing, Meeko was greatly intrigued by this. His eyes watched the small feline, oblivious that he might be in her way.

Realizing this at the last moment, Meeko went to step out of her way. He just hoped it wasn't too late. "So sorry," he said, a nervous smile showing as he glanced at the three of them.

"Wheeeeeee-" called Danger, sailing past Meeko. However, upon seeing him, she dug her foreclaws into the ice, skidding to a stop and flipping over. She hit the groups with a tiny "oof," but seemed otherwise unhurt. Her parents, however, did not seem to think so.

"Danger!" called Skull, immediately bounding to her duaghter's side. Grapeshot moved slightly slower, and by the time he had reached his family, the Baby Doom Kitty was already bouncing around enthusiastically, apparently none the worse for wear.

"Ah-hello," added Grapeshot, noticing the Lucain next to him for the first time. "I'm sorry, did she hit you?"

"I din't!" objected Danger.

Danger? Did that creature think he was a threat? Meeko watched curiously, finally piecing together that 'Danger' must be the child's name. He smiled, glad that he was able to put that together.

"Hello," Meeko said with a friendly smile toward the malphas and his family. "No, no, I'm alright," he went on to say. "It's okay, she sure has a lot of energy though, huh?" He added with a glance at the little one.

"Yes, she does," agreed Skull. "Danger, say hello."

"Hiiii!" squealed the Baby Doom Kitty, extending a paw.

"Ah-ah, no," added Grapeshot, quickly putting a wing between them. "Sorry, please don't be offended, but she's not fully in control of her powers yet." Danger humphed, but put her paw back down. Indeed, a webbing of frost extended from that spot almost immediately.

"My name is Grapeshot," he added, "and this is my mate, Skull. And what is your name?" he asked, extending his own wing.

Meeko smiled at the baby doom kitty, "Hello," he said warmly. He chuckled though, completely understanding. He wasn't even in full control of his powers, but luckily they didn't effect his contact with others.

"Oh, it's fine. Everyone has to learn," he said. The three certainly did have odd names though. Nevertheless, Meeko smiled warmly once more, "Nice to meet everyone, my name is Meeko," he said. He lifted a paw to shake with Grapeshot's wing. He had certainly never shaken paws, err, wing and paw before.

"What brings you guys here? It doesn't strike me as a place for a family outing," he went on to say. "No offense or anything, I've just read a lot about this place, ya know," he added, an embarrassed smile on his face.

"Ah, well, you see-" said Skull somewhat awkwardly, before being interrupted by Danger.

"We're seeing what kind of powers I have! Because Mom and Dad think that I might have powers like Mom does!"

"I can see spirits," said Skull softly, ducking her head.

"And we, too, heard about this place. We thought it would be a good idea to test her potential powers here," continued Grapeshot.

"That's actually, ah, quite the coincidence," Meeko said. He smiled nervously, "I'm looking for spirits myself," he admitted. "I've recently discovered this, ah, talent, and wanted to try it out. I've only seen them once before."

He was very inexperienced in the 'art', maybe Skull could give him some tips. But Meeko didn't want to start questioning her right away, that would be rude on his part.

"Really?" asked Danger, clapping her paws together excitedly. A slight mist rose from them, but nothing more. "I've never seen any! Maybe you can help me!"

"It's not really something you can 'help' others with," said Skull gently. "It just...happens. Having another spirit-seer along is only useful because they can point out spirits you might not have noticed, or tell you what areas might have spirits."

"Yeah, that's why we're here!" said Danger. "Because you said there might be spirits here, Mom and Dad!"

"Well, it seems our meeting is quite a lucky coincidence," added Grapeshot. "If you don't mind having a child as your fellow apprentice, it seems this is a good place for both of you to test your abilities."

Well that was news to Meeko. He was very unfamiliar with spirits, and reading about them didn't tell you everything you needed to know, after all. He chuckled at the child's enthusiasm anyway, "Yes, perhaps we can help each other spot them," he told her with a smile.

"Oh, I don't mind," Meeko said. "I think it'll be more fun and less intimidating with you guys, rather than being alone," he went on to say. He may not admit it out loud, but he was nervous about meeting other spirits. The first ones had been friendly, but he was dreading meeting the not so friendly ones.

"Intimidating? Don't worry, most spirits can't really hurt you," said Skull. There was a pause. "Then again, most of the spirits that want to hurt you can. Oh...oh dear, that wasn't helpful, was it?"

"It's okay! Mommy will protect us!" added Danger confidently.

"So...have any of you noticed any spirits around here?" added Grapeshot. "Maybe...we need to go deeper into the ruins? This is a pretty open space, and most spirits prefer the darker areas..."

"Deeper? Oh..." whispered Skull. "Well, I suppose that makes sense..."

Meeko grimaced, "No, not really," he said with a nervous chuckle. He was sure Skull hadn't meant to scare him like that, so he let it go. He just hoped he wouldn't encounter any malicious spirits any time soon. Although, Danger seemed pretty confident in her mother's abilities. Meeko hoped the child was right, just in case.

"No, not yet anyway," Meeko said in response to Grapeshot. "But going deeper would make sense..." Mustering a grin, Meeko headed deeper. It was darker, but there were holes in the ceiling where rocks had fallen out and weathered away, so there was more light than expected. Those rocks now littered the floor, and he found himself watching his feet more than anything. "I'd watch your step," he called back to the family. "If you still want to come with me," he added as an afterthought. After all, what if they thought it would be too dangerous for the young one?

"You should probably get on me," commented Grapeshot after seeing the situation, turning to the two smaller felines. Skull quickly leapt lightly onto his head, while Danger curled up on his shoulders. "There. That should be safer." He spread his wings to demonstrate, before moving into the shrine alongside Meeko.

"Do you see anything, dear?" he added.

"Not yet," said Skull. "How about you, Danger?"

"Nope!"

Meeko looked to the family, noticing how happy they were together. He felt a pang in his heart, because he was reminded of how lonely he really was in Evelon. He shook the sad thought away, and concentrated on looking for any spirits that might be around.

"Me neither," Meeko sad with a sigh. "Maybe we're looking too hard?" He suggested. He had read that some spirits didn't like to be looked for. Maybe those dwelling here were like that? He wasn't really sure.

Skull frowned. "Most of the time, 'looking too hard' only happens with those who try to use artificial means to find spirits. Spirits can sense those with a natural gift for seeing them, and generally don't mind revealing themselves in that case."

Suddenly, something seemed to flit across the floor, darting between pillars.

"Hey, I see something!" squealed Danger excitedly.

"Did you?" asked Skull, turning somewhat belatedly in the same direction. "I don't see anything..."

"Heyyyyyy!" called the Baby Doom Kitty excitedly. "Come out! We don't want to hurt you!"

Grapeshot winced. "Are you sure calling out like that is a good idea...?"

"Too late," whispered his mate.
