Once a grand cathedral dedicated to the Holy Triumvirate, all that remains now are ruins ever since the religion was rejected strongly in 1823. While the religion is back in favor, the cathedral was never restored. (+3 Defense, +2 Offense)

The Summons of Night [P] [Possibly V,L]

Postby Nyxia » 07/10/2013 5:38 PM

Dusk had set only an hour prior when the woman found herself standing in the ruins of what once might have been a cemetery. Slowly she stepped out of the shadows by which she'd traveled here, and stood motionless taking in the scene before her. In the fading light this place seemed simply to be the ruins of a once beautiful place, but slowly as she watched the shadows creep up around the scattered stones the air took on a much more sinister feel. If she'd been still mortal, still living; she might have turned and run from such a place, might have felt fear ice her veins. Instead when she saw no moment but the creeping shadows the woman started walking with care across the yard, doing her best not to step on the graves she passed. It was disrespectful to walk on the dead after all, which was why she was grateful to be out of it the moment her boots touch the concrete path at the edge. When the elders summon a Reikshäϯv, you did not fail to appear. Still she wished they would consider that there was a war going on, and she like many of the others was busy with protect those under her rule; a day or two notice would have been much more consideration that anyone could have expected. At the same time she sighed and tucked her cloak around her body, no sense in keeping them waiting.

Lucina was still letting her thoughts wander as she walked the narrow pathway up to the ruins of the building, for one matter, where had Lochesh gone? When she'd been summoned this evening, her first instinct was to gain his advice or at least leave him in charge while she was gone. The last time she'd been summoned Lochesh had all but gone to pieces looking for her, when she'd left without a word to him or her son Nuada. Now it seemed her dear friend had taken a page out of her book, as she'd learned Lochesh had left the night before without so much as a good-bye to her. She couldn't help but feel something was off with her adviser, maybe this had something to do with his wayward former mate. After all, the woman had convinced him to turn her, dumped a child on him, and then vanished without telling him anything more. That caused her more worry, thinking he was out chasing after the woman he thought he loved; probably to return once more with a more broken heart. If that wasn't enough worry for the Reikshäϯv woman, she'd learned first thing this evening that in the face of war, her beloved Kamala had up and disappeared as well. At least she'd left a note informing Lucina that she would return when the war cooled down, and that she wouldn't go far. Part of Lucina had expected that much of Mala, after all her lover was the most non-confrontational Reikshäϯv ever known to live. In all reality Lucina would have felt much better had the other woman stayed, even if she opted to hide in the house from all the world; then again as a Reikshäϯv ignoring the elder's will, Kamala was in some ways a burden of her own should that relationship ever come to light.

While lost in her thoughts, Lucina suddenly found herself mere feet from the ruins. Drawn back to the world and the problems at hand, Lucina steeled herself with a few unneeded deep breaths before slipping through the opening in the stones beside the doorway. Here she would once more answer to the elders, follow their orders to the letter, before begin cast away again to go back to her own life. For a brief instance rage flared through her mind and body, being reminded that she was forever their plaything did nothing for her mood. Just as quickly she pulled the rage back and tucked it neatly away deep inside what was left of her heart, along with the fleeting dark thoughts of overthrowing the ancient beings. Her anger had no place here, and would only serve to amuse or delight one of the elders.

Re: The Summons of Night [P] [Possibly V,L]

The night was still very young, but already Lochesh found himself wishing for it to be over. After an hour of answering the inquisition of the Elders, minutes had seemed like lifetimes as he'd sat telling them what he knew of the ongoing war. Lochesh couldn't understand why they were suddenly so interested, the war had been raging for almost three weeks. Now, suddenly they were concerned with the threat possessed to the Reikshäϯv communities. It baffled him, just as their summons had baffled him when it had been delivered moments after he'd woken for the night. They had specified that he not tell L he was going, that he be there immediately. Not one bit of it made any sense to him as he now stood in the underground hallway, just outside the door which the separated him from the Elder's makeshift Council chamber. In a room further down the hall he could sense others, several Reikshäϯv hovering and pacing as nervously as he was. What were they being summoned for, what could the Elder's possibly need this many of their kind for when none of them knew any bit more than the others? It was a puzzle Lochesh couldn't put together or even being to find the pieces to.

The hallway he lurked in reminded him a lot of his former sire, of the small village that had answered to the twisted Reikshäϯv and his power. With it's secret passages and torch lit tunnels that linked about to mysterious places, it was enough to make him shiver with terror. To add to the insult of it, the Elder's had summoned his sister Drahomíra; though she had left not long after he'd arrived, keeping his presence hidden from her by mere inches. It was enough to make him dizzy as he stood there thinking it all over in the brilliant light of the torches that lined the stone walls. At least it was until he sensed a familiar presence coming closer to their location, and the familiar dread washed over him. It was L, and she was moving along the floor above them. Lochesh was about to turn and duck into the room which the others were waiting when the door opened to the chamber behind him. "Dear boy, do go up and get your sire. We wish to speak with her now." The soft feminine voice floated out of the darkness to his ears like a siren's song, he could sense the power behind it too which might strip him of his free will should he fail to act. With a nod Lochesh turned the other way and started towards the stairs that lead to the ruins of the upper floor. If they had wished to speak with L, then why all the secrecy, why have him leave under a cloud of mystery only to send him to fetch her?

He couldn't figure it out no matter what way he looked at it as he took the steps two at a time. "L! Over here." He called out into the setting twilight for her, knowing she would hear him even if he whispered as his voice echoed off the fallen stones. What he found even more off than what was going on below the ruins, was the fact that L was here alone. He would have thought Kamala would have been with her, but here she stood with an almost sad gleam in her eyes without her mate.

Lucina heard the familiar voice call out into the darkness, drawing her attention away from her thoughts once more. Her calm didn't waver when she turned through the fallen pillars and came face to face with her adviser, in fact she wasn't even surprised by his presence at this whole gathering. She'd had a feeling Lochesh had been drawn here in the same manner she was, a call from those they severed without fail. She passed Lochesh with a soft smile that showed no fang, no sign of ill-will to her old friend; but she didn't speak either, while she could place no blame on him for keeping the secrets he was told to keep, she also didn't feel as if trust was well placing in this sort of situation. Which was why she lingered at the top of the stone steps, waiting for him to guide her down below as he'd been sent to do. When he passed down the stairs before her Lucina couldn't help but feel the unease raise in chest as she followed slowly behind him, neither spoke as they descended the steps into the dark depths of this palace of terror.

It didn't take long for them to reach the bottom, where she detected several other Reikshäϯv in various places around them. Most gave off a nervous sort of energy, while others it seemed were curious as to the nature of being called here. It was enough to make her worry, such a large gathering of so many of their kind often enough ended in blood shed. When one considered the new policies in place of feeding rights and territory disputes that had been going on for a year or better, it wasn't a great surprise that hostility rang through the air like a gong to her. Still she reminded herself that it wasn't her problem to keep the peace among her kind, if the elders were ignorant enough to gather them without seeing to this; then really any problem was blood on their hands not hers. It did little to put her mind to ease but she continued after Lochesh as they passed two different rooms in which many faces, familiar and not watched them.

As they passed the third room, Lucina caught the face of an old ally. Korrё watched her from a shadowed room, in which he stood alone. As she glanced at him she swore he smiled at her, an offering of support she guessed. In the darkness she thought she sensed another Reikshäϯv with him, but it was such a brief thought that when she reached out again she found nothing. Instead she continued to follow her adviser who wisely had still not spoken a word to her as they walked, though she caught Lochesh glancing over his shoulder at her every now and again as he couldn't read her emotions with her guard up.

Bottles smashed, I raised my hand
How can you all even stand?
And why is there joy in this poison? Oh
Faking smiles and confidence
Driving miles to capture this excitement
I can't take anymore

You're never gonna get it
I'm a hazard to myself
I'll break it to you easy
This is hell, this is hell

You think I'm someone else

Lochesh was starting to worry, Lucina almost never kept her guard so high that he couldn't tell what was happening with her emotions. When they passed a room so dark he thought it was a void he felt her guard slip and relief swept against him for a moment before he felt nothing from her again. He hadn't seen anyone in there, and was puzzled as to what made her feel that way in the darkness. Lochesh didn't know what to say to her, especially since she seemed to not want to talk to him as they walked. Passing a pair of the elder's guards Lochesh wondered if she thought he'd given Mala up to the elders, he hadn't said a word about the outlaw Reikshäϯv who had become Lucina's mate in such a short time. The second pair they passed glared at her with open hostility and disdain that caused him to shrink against the stone wall slightly, he knew Lucina had become a legend for her past that held her in contempt. Her most recent actions had done her no favors either, creating a clan without the permission of the elders showed her bold flaunting of the rules their kind lived by.

He wished Lucina wasn't being so closed and secretive, since Lochesh knew a small secret that few others here tonight knew. He wanted to tell her that powers were shifting, that something was changing in their ranks. She didn't seem like the warm and open woman he'd always known tonight though, instead he was seeing another side entirely of the woman he'd followed into so many dangerous situations. It shocked him slightly, having never thought Lucina was anything like the others. On some level he understood her coldness towards this whole event, Lucina wasn't a highly thought of member of their kind. She had to be on guard for what might happen next, but it was still difficult for him to see her like this.

As Lochesh lead her alone Lucina tried to ignore the looks and snide comments made in hushed whispers, it wasn't easy though. Passing the henchmen of the elders set her nerve tingling, and for the first time in years Lucina found herself wanting to destroy another of her kind. It wasn't the first thought she'd had, but all the same it would have been easy enough to follow the impulse all the same. She kept moving though, this was not the time or place to settle such offenses and thus she would have to just wait it out. They hadn't gone far when a young guard approached them, his head down as he headed straight at them. Fear rolled off of him in stinking waves, as did the sense that he was young. She could tell Lochesh was having a hard time controlling his impulse to pull those emotions away, no matter what might have happened before her arrival Lucina couldn't stand back and leave him to such a struggle. Stepping briskly in front of her old friend Lucina kept her eyes on the young man with copper colored hair, "Are you here for us, or just roaming without watching where you're going?" She watched as the guard flinched from the sound of her icy tone, then snuck a look from under his bangs at them.

"I...I'm sorry ma'am. I was sent to get you, Lady Fellshrone." He shook as he spoke, trembled with fear in front of her. Lucina knew why the elders chose him, they wanted to show her the effect of her presence on others. It angered her to no end, these games the elders played with her since the incident. She didn't bother to hide her anger either, and watched as the guard seemed to press himself against the wall. Behind her she could feel Lochesh duck his head, but he wasn't scared he was worried at her display. "T-Th-This way, m-m-ma'ma." The guard stammered before starting off further down the corridor. She didn't look back as she began to follow the guard, she couldn't bare the expression she knew Lochesh was wearing on his face as she walked.

He'd seen Lucina pass by the room in which he stood hidden by the shadows, many of their kind had been called her this night. It was puzzling to some extent for him, considering all of what had happened in the last few years. Already he'd met with the Elders and been given his orders, to try and not only aid the Imperial side but to see that the other clans stayed in line. For whatever reason he felt they put too much trust in the other leaders, misplaced when one took into account the promise of favor among those who made the rules. That was the reason he hid here, not mingling with the other leaders. In the wake of such meeting Korrё had been disgusted by the way the Elder's seemed to think all of them wanted something, he'd been met by another force in this mess. Now the small woman stood wrapped in the shadows, so well hidden that he couldn't even sense her despite being nearly beside her. "I don't think she'll be so willing to go along with them." He pointed out to the shadow woman, who had also glanced up at Lucina. "In fact she's already angry, something you may want to be careful of." It was a warning and at the same time he hoped it would give her the hint. In the past Lucina had proved herself to be a valuable ally when it came to matters of their kind.

The woman might have responded had Lochesh not walked in at the same moment, his head hung slightly and an air of concern spinning around him. "I think she's upset with me." He told the pair, aware of the woman who clung to the shadows. It seemed his sister in dark blood had taken up with the temple, and so he was more aware of them that Korrё was. "In fact I get the feeling she thinks I betrayed her, and her mate as well." The poor man was nearly torn up over it, having always been someone Lucina trusted deeply her treatment had shaken him in a way Korrё had not seen before. If Lucina did think such a thing, she may be less likely to ally herself with them than he'd thought before.

She watched the men as one mopped and the other seemed to become distressed by his words, Xarla had never seen such tension. Part of her wished she could find a way to escape and report back to Istos about what was happening, but she knew there wasn't an option for that right now. Her mission had been just to simply collect information observe what was happening and return to the temple, but seeing how many were disgruntled by the actions being taken by the elders; Xarla hadn't been able to pass up making a sort of resistance. After all that was to be the next phase of their plan once she returned, so why not at least learn who would turn on the out of touch elders now. Still Xarla hadn't counted on such problems in the plan, now she had a pair who would join them and both were upset about a woman.

Sighing aloud Xarla shook her head, "I will not likely be dealing with her. All I am to do here this night, is learn who would be most likely to help us." She told them both, hoping it would settle a few things. It seemed to work as the tension eased back like a wave, and both looked at her with clear eyes. "I would need your help, since I should not be seen lurking around here." It was true, she knew the elders and their guards would be more than happy to chase and possibly kill her if she was found. Istos would be displeased with her actions to some extent, but he would be livid should she cause a scene here if she were found.

Lochesh nodded to the shadow's words, it made sense that she would not want to really interact with those here more than she had to. Still he was uneasy at having already gone ahead and taken this side without having a chance to inform Lucina of such choices, more now that she acted as though he'd betrayed her on some level. He wasn't sure what he'd have to do in order to earn her trust again, or if he even could. Times like this Lochesh wished he could speak with his sister, or even Nuada who would know how to handle his mother. Instead understanding the woman's need for them to learn what they could of the others, Lochesh left the small dark room. His mind whirled with what to do about Lucina, making his trip seem endless.

Still hovering in the darkness Xarla and Korrё didn't speak, both silently watched Lochesh depart with their own feelings on the matter. Xarla was concerned that his current state might cause him to slip up, say something or do something that would be reckless and endanger her and her entire mission. Korrё on the other hand felt a sort of kindred sadness for the younger Reikshäϯv, understanding his state and how it was to lose the trust of the one whom he worked to aid.

It was seeming that this would be a terribly long night, something none of the beings lurking in the shadows off this dark place. Despite his calm nature Korrё couldn't help but be nervous, in the very heart of the most powerful vampires known alive here they were plotting treason. Letting go the feeling that they were soon to be caught, Korrё looked back to the shadow woman. She was lingering in the pitch black like a shadow clinging to the darkness, but he could see her anyway. This priestess was lovely, as many of the followers of Taoh were; though he could tell that despite her beauty she had a few rough edges. He didn't speak, instead taking in the waves of her nearly a black burgundy curve around her smooth ivory face from which deep crimson orbs glowed with a light not from their current environment. She reminded him of the painting he'd seen of a goddess of night, mostly of the goddess of the dark moon.

As though she sensed him watching her, the priestess turned to face him with a quizzical look in her eyes. Gathering his mind once more Korrё gave her a slight smile, "I just can't stop wondering, what could the followers of Taoh possibly want? Why are you wanting to learn who among us is unhappy with the Elders?" It was a question appropriate considering starting such a coup was unheard of among their kind. Loyalty was highly prized among creatures who stalked the night and killed for blood or energy to survive. The priestess tipped her head slightly, as if she were considering what he'd asked, though Korrё didn't mean to say more he did. "I'm more curious to know what you plan to do once their gone. Will your people take over as our rulers? Or will we have to figure it out after." It was concerning, such an upheaval and no plan in place for after could lead to some very dark times. He'd seen it before, in the darker ages when kings fell to their subjects; the kind of sheer chaos that followed was not something he wished to see again.

Xarla listened as he voiced his concerns about this, it was natural for being use to being under someone's thumb for so long to worry about casting off their leaders. Still she only knew a bit of what was to happen should they be successful, she hadn't been given much considering she wasn't suppose to interact with them but simply observe and report back. "Goodness, no. The temple would never lead, we exist to aid our own not rule them." Xarla began as she started moving towards him, out of the shadows that provided her so much shelter. "I don't know everything, only bits of what our leader hopes to see in the wake of it." She felt somewhat naked now standing where anyone passing by could see her, but she wanted this one to trust her. "We hope to see a council formed, one that would hear concerns and speak for all under them. If all goes well this council would be a sort of election, those who become part would be chosen by those in the areas they represent." She gave him a shrug, it was all she did truly know about what was to come.

Still there was much to do before such things could happen, and Xarla could feel that she had already stayed too long here. Istos would worry, wonder what was taking her so long or what she might be doing. If worse came to worse he might even send one of the enforcers to collect her, and she wanted to keep it from coming to that. "I must leave for a bit, there are other things I must do." She didn't mean for it to sound so cold, but she couldn't help it once the words had slipped from her lips. Korrё didn't seem bothered by her tone, though she could tell by the look he had that he wasn't sure yet. "I will be back later, if I can. Please try to trust us, we are not the enemy here; nor are we the ones using your kind as puppets." With that Xarla stepped back twice until she was wrapped in the shadows and vanished. She'd gone only so far from the ruins before she felt Istos' power pushing her.

Barely out of range of the ruins and the elders conducting business within Xarla let her barriers down to hear Istos. "I am here, fine as you can tell." She told Istos before he could speak, trying her best not to think much more. "I found some within who are unhappy, but from all I've heard this evening I believe our answer may lie within one of them. A woman name Lucina, she is the most angry with the elders. Already she has gone out of bounds with them, ignored their rules." She was reporting just as she had always done when she felt Istos put up resistance, a sign for her to cease speaking.

"You've done far more than just observe, haven't you Xarla?" His question wasn't from being unsure, she knew he never asked a question he didn't already know the answer to. "You were in there too long to have simply observed them all." The bluntness of his words still made her flinch even if he couldn't see her. Still she knew he was giving her chance to explain herself, to try and sway him that she hadn't done something foolish.

"Yes, Istos. I did speak with a couple of them. Both were very upset about this summoning, and both were more than happy about the idea of the elder's being dethroned." Silently she waited to see what was going to happen when she told him that. When she felt nothing, not even a sign she continued. "One is the adviser to this Lucina, and worries about their clan and what the elders might do to them. He also told me that her mate is one of the outcasts, that gives us something I think." Now she felt him sigh, that dragon like sigh not his normal one. It was concerning, but Xarla pressed on. "They went to listen and see if any others were unhappy with the decision to enter the war, and the side they must be on." Finished, Xarla waited without a breath of hope that she'd not made a mess of things.
