Once a grand cathedral dedicated to the Holy Triumvirate, all that remains now are ruins ever since the religion was rejected strongly in 1823. While the religion is back in favor, the cathedral was never restored. (+3 Defense, +2 Offense)

Enigma Seed: The Beginning [P-Cita and I] [E]

Postby Kallile » 10/26/2016 4:14 PM

At the surface, the Enigma Seed corporation was an upstanding, military-catering facility that researched some of the most advanced forms of warfare known to Evelon. It was what was buried under the surface where their real money went, and where the real terrors were born. Out in the wastelands of the Cathedral, buried underground was the headquarters of the Cryptid Division. Miles of reinforced steel and iron held the heavy ground above at bay...and kept the monsters inside.

Down winding halls and through barred doors, the creature room was little more than a prison surrounding a central slab and several tables of high grade medical equipment. Body parts were often strewn around the room--either meant for experimentation or for feeding of some of the more savage creations.

The room's center stage stood empty for the moment--only a few beasts around the edges stirred in their cells.

A large minotaur sat with his back to the cell, huddled in the corner despite the fact that he towered over most life forms here at an impressive nine feet tall. His longhorn-like horns each rested on the walls--their tips blunted and capped to prevent attack. Chains could be heard in his cell, clattering as he tentatively pulled at them. Their resting place was to a rather large and spiked nose ring which was still stained with blood to show its newness. A simple loincloth hung around his waist and flowed out onto the floor were he sat.

The beast simply cowered, defeated, in the cell without a word. His neighbor, however, was not willing to be so silent.

"Oh come on, big guy, body jewelry is all the rage with the ladies these days. I mean, if I wasn't strapped into this cell, you can bet I'd be in yours~" she quipped, trying to earn a chuckle or anything from the dangerous looking behemoth next door. The speaker herself looked ordinary, save for the massive spikes puncturing the flesh on her hips to anchor her to the wall. Her blood from the incident had long since dried, and she absentmindedly reached down to peel off some of the dark red flakes left on her mostly bare legs. She wasn't much better off than the hairy beast--little more than boy shorts and a sports bra that allowed every scar on her skin to shine in the dimmed light of her prison. "I mean, just think of all the fun tricks you'll be able to do now. Exciting, huh Kanrus?"

The minotaur only snorted, adding a few droplets of blood to the wall. "Hurts..." he said simply, scrapping his capped horns against the wall as he turned his head away from Saya.
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

Proteus

Though the vessel was allowed to roam free it was of little consequence. Unerring loyalty to the Master was perhaps a fault for most, but he knew nothing else. Proteus' stiff gait was easily heard as he wheeled a small, quiet cart into the room. At least he was much kinder than Eylam was when it came to caring for the experiments, but that just seemed his nature. Once in the room he shut and locked the door behind him before heading to Kanrus first.

"Are you hungry, Kanrus?" Mismatched eyes blinked as his head tilted, reaching out to offer a bowl of mixed greens, raw vegetables, and boiled eggs. He knew the big minotaur didn't like meat, but Eylam told him he needed protein. Eggs were protein, so perhaps he would like them better. Peering a little closer, though not stepping closer than he needed to he frowned at the sight of the blood.

If Kanrus was hurt, why did Eylam not fix him? "Do you need Eylam? He can make hurts go away..." He trailed off for a moment, remembering that Kanrus and Saya didn't like Eylam. They were naughty, they ran away. If they were good, they could walk around like he did. He still liked them though. They talked to him.

The sounds of heavy footfalls drew both occupants to silence, though Kanrus shrunk back a bit Saya steeled her gaze on the door. She trusted no one until they spoke; their so called 'creator' liked to wear many faces but he could never hide his cruelty. As Proteus drew closer she relaxed a little and softened her gaze. The failed experiment, now little more than Eylam's errand boy. She felt for the poor creature the monster had tried to create for his own selfish reasons, but that did not change the fact that he remained on Eylam's side of things.

Kanrus moved closer, still holding the chain attached to his new accessory to prevent it from pulling. He did like Eylam, the simple man was nice all the same no matter how he came to be here. He sniffed delicately at the odd salad offered to him, studying the eggs Proteus had put on it skeptically.

"Hungry," he repeated, reaching out with a massive three-fingered paw to pull the bowl into the cell with him. He picked up a slippery egg after several attempts, sniffing at it cautiously before taking a tentative bite. He didn't have many, but some of his teeth were still pointed enough to make meat-eating possible. He made a face and rolled the bitten-off egg back out to Proteus. "Bad."

At the mention of Eylam, however, Kanrus picked up his bowl and shrunk completely back into the shadows of his cell, one massive mit over his nose to hide it from view. "Fine. No Eylam."

Saya finally spoke up, trying to keep in mind that the mismatched monstrosity had feelings. "That's Eylam's new gift to Kanrus, makes him obey by hurting him. So no, Eylam has done enough Proteus." It was hard to bite back her anger at the creator of them all, but she did her best and tried to quickly shift the subject to keep Proteus from fetching his master anyway. "So, whatcha got on the cart for me? I really hope it's something juicy."

Proteus' face fell at the eggs and his help being rejected. He thought he had did something good... Maybe he would have to seek more help with having Kanrus eat. There was only so much knowledge to be gained by skulking around the kitchen and asking questions. Few would give him any answers. "Sorry, Kanrus. Is the rest of the salad good?" He picked up the half-eaten egg and put it into the trash. It was part of his job to keep everything clean, he could do that well.

Attention turning back to Saya he nodded slightly. "I brought you pork chops today. They look juicy. Not dry like last week." Pushing the little cart closer he brought over her plate. A little more balanced than Kanrus' meal, though with a large portion of meat atop some rice and assorted vegetables mixed into it. An attempt at making her eat vegetables, though it rarely worked. "I hope you like better than Kanrus like his meal." He murmured, looking back to the minotaur with a mournful frown.
