This place had a problem. One that was growing more and more apparent by the day as explorers and adventurers started talking about how dangerous it was getting with the monsters starting to abnormally grow in numbers from the norm. It was getting to the point that less and less people were willing to enter the ruins, as the risk was becoming too great.

That's when the duo that was now hanging around the entrance would come to "save the day". They had gotten the job recently to do whatever they could to clean it out and permanently eliminate the monsters nests once found.

There wasn't much to be learned from locals about the ruins, just that they've been around for a very long time. And for anyone that could've told them what kind of monsters were hidden within, beyond the whole "shadows hiding in the darkness" spiel, were probably already dead, so they would be of no help either.

It didn't matter though, because Keahi was more than raring to go. The danger and challenge inside those walls making her more eager the more she thought about it, that she found it hard to stay put while her partner finished up with preparing her supplies. "The monsters aren't going anywhere..." Haizea told the boldly colored woman in a low tone.

"I know that!" Keahi responded, the unsettling grin on her face widening more as she turned to face her. "But I can't help it, I'm ready to start smashing heads! Even you have to admit this is pretty exciting!" At the mention of head smashing, she did slam a fist into her open hand for added emphasis on the "smash" part. But the other woman didn't seem to react at all, as she just kept sorting and arranging items in her bags in the neatest way possible. "Only you would be this excited about beating up monsters." She replied with a sigh afterwards.

Having finished her preparations, Haizea would sling her bag over her shoulder and walked over to stand right next to her partner. "Are you saying you're not?!" Keahi asked, shock clear on her face as she stared at Haizea. How in the eleven deities could someone not be excited about this? The air of danger was what made doing this so good!

"I never said that..." It wasn't that she wasn't excited necessarily, it was just impossible for any sane person to share the same level of enthusiasm as Keahi. Of course, she wouldn't air such a thought. Instead she started heading through the entrance on her own.

At Haizea's not quite an admission, Keahi bursted out with, "ha! You totally are!" Her partner, of course, would chase after her once she started moving. Until Keahi had caught up, and then started taking the lead from then on. Even with all the excitement buzzing around in that odd head of hers, their experience through the endless amount of time spent together as a team quickly kicked in, and from now on she would be taking on anything that tried to pick a fight with them head on.

The further into the ruins they went, the darker it started to get. The stream of bright sunlight would be nothing more than a memory behind them now as it soon faded out of sight. It made it hard to see all that much, so it was good that Keahi had her own little trick up her sleeve. With a swipe of her hand, she conjured up the fire magic that dwelled within her body, shedding new light onto the old cracked stone that made up these halls. Haizea came prepared too, and brought out a bottle that started emitting light after a couple of shakes.

Holding her hand ahead of her, Keahi adjusted the flame until she could see well enough to continue unhindered. Her vivid orange eyes would be scanning at every nook and cranny they passed, in search of the horrific monsters they'd been hearing so much about.

Though not much seemed to really catch her attention, as all she really saw was nothing but rubble in certain places. "Man... this place is a dump." She commented, kicking aside a stone along her path once she'd gotten close enough to it.

Once she gave it a good kick, it went soaring down the corridor until it landed somewhere out of sight in the darkness with an audible clattering sound. "Some people would consider it sacred." Haizea remarked, staring down where the stone had vanished too with no change to her expression. That probably would've been deemed unacceptable and even downright offensive to someone that was crazy about ruins or rocks. But there was nobody else here except them, and the certainly didn't care.

This place? Sacred? Keahi couldn't help but scoff at that. "Pfft, yeah, like five centuries ago I bet!" It was nothing more than a long forgotten piece of architecture now, that was now home to possibly countless beasts somewhere in its depths.

It seemed like they weren't having any immediate luck with actually finding these beasts though. As they had been walking in relative peace for longer than she would've liked. Where was all the action!? She wanted to hit something already!

Then, as a corner came up along their path and they turned, Keahi's foot stepped on something solid and oddly shaped. There was a loud crack! to disturb the eerie silence when she put her weight on it, and they froze. "Oops." Looking down, it seemed she found one of the last guys that were here before them... now just an old pile of bones.

If she believed in spirits, that probably would've left an interesting target on her back from whoever that belonged to. But it was clearly the evidence they were looking for that there was something down here after all...

Once the initial surprise had passed, Haizea would come forward and rest a hand on Keahi's shoulder as she came to stand beside her. With their sources of light helping to illuminate the remains that had been left behind here in the darkness, she would crouch down the get a better look at it.

With what few parts that still remained after her headstrong companion went and clumsily crushed it with her foot, there was signs along the surface that made the woman narrow her eyes.

"There are gouges on these bones..." She began informing Keahi in a soft tone of what observations she could make out, all while avoiding going as far as to start touching the bones. "Some of them look deep too." Whatever this person had been unlucky enough to find, it didn't play nice with them one bit.

In their line of work, this sort of scene was pretty common. But she never really got used to it. For this was yet another soul that had met an unfortunate end.

Keahi would lean in a little bit to get a better look at them too, and sure enough, Haizea was right. She whistled in response to seeing just how deep some of those actually went. "That had to have hurt like hell." Beyond those marks, there was no telling what they were going to be dealing with exactly inside these ruins. Just that it had something very sharp in its arsenal, if it could do that kind of damage to a person's skeleton.

That wouldn't bother her though. In fact, it just encouraged her excitement even further, particularly when she began imagining what sort of monster was responsible that she'd be getting to crush into the stone floor today.

Haizea's eyes would shift towards the other woman, before narrowing slightly. She'd find that comment to be rather redundant and unnecessary. Of course it had hurt, the guy was dead. But rather than get sucked into a pointless conversation, she refrained from saying anything. Instead, Haizea went back to focusing on what she had been doing.

There were other minor things to take notice of in the area around the bones, like even more scratches and claw marks being present, but not much else to go on.

Since it had clearly been left like that for who knows how long, the trail will have long since gone cold. But at the very least, the bones had provided some information for them to make use of, and perhaps soon they would remove the creature that had done this to them.

Before they would continue on their way, there was still one more thing Haizea wished to do. Which consisted of offering a small prayer, as she quietly whispered under her breath. "May the Eleven guide you on your final journey..."
