Shane

Shane padded away from the small dirt path she had been following to watch a small creek rush water past her nose. It was a fairly warm day, with the warm sun high in the sharp blue sky. Today she had thought would be the perfect day to walk in the forest, she had not done this in a long time, visited the forest that is, Shane walked every day, rain or sun. Sticking her paw in the cool water Shane shivered as the water found its way through her fur to touch her bare skin. Her tails lay still and she sat neatly on the bank of the creek.  She was content with watching the clear water scrape by the water, confined to the shallow path of the creek. Her white fur was only a bit ruffled from her walk to the forest, but other than that it lay smooth and her eyes danced with grays and blues.

It had been quite some time since Thomasine had some time to herself. No brother, no Tobi, no mother, no one but her. Well, her and the Moonlings that she had no doubts about being around. She had heard the creatures ruled this forest, but had little trouble getting this far into it. She was slightly surprised when she saw paw prints in the dirt, fellow kuhna ones at that. She smiled slightly to herself, following the trail. While it was indeed nice to get away from her family, meeting new people wasn't bad at all. "Hello? Is anyone there?"

Shane jumped when she heard a girl’s voice. –Who could this be, do they see me, are they friendly?- questions flitted through her head, making it hard to focus. She bounded back onto the path. “I am,” She meowed wondering if this Kuhna would be friendly or not. It was a little bit shocking to Shane that anyone had come down the same path she had chosen, but it was a nice day so a lot of people where out on the trails.  “I’m Shane, who are you?” Shane asked, introducing herself and bowing her head politely. A slight breeze caressed the branches and gave a nice crisp chill to the air reminding Shane that winter still had its grasps on the forest. Her tails waved happily at the prospect of a new friend but she was still wary of this stranger.

Thomasine smiled at the other kuhna, bowing her head back in respect. "I'm Thomasine, sorry if I startled you, I saw that someone had come this way and was wondering who else would be out here." She looked at the kuhna, smiling at the familiar coloration of the so called 'common' kuhna. She had seen so many with the same coloration, and yet couldn't find anything 'common' between them all other than their colors. It was an odd name.    Then again, she herself was a 'Skycracker' kuhna, which made even less sense. "Is there any reason you're wandering the forest, or just out on a walk?" She asked politely, smiling.

“Just out for a walk,” Shane meowed her eyes twinkled happy that this kuhna was not going to be mean to her.  She did feel a little awkward just standing in the middle of the path, so she invited Thomasine to sit next to her by the creek. “Thomasine isn’t a name I’ve heard before, very unique.” She complimented hoping to know more about this new kuhna, she couldn’t help it, she knew she was nosy but she just accepted it and that made meeting new people all the more interesting. “And it’s ok, I should have expected more evelonians walking down the path.” As she said that she looked past Thomasine down the path, no one else was in sight so Shane relaxed a little, her tails resting neatly around her paws.

Thomasine smiled at the offered spot, then sat next to Shane. "Thomas means twin so I'm told, so my brother and I were named Thomas and Thomasine. Speaking of names, Shane's a common boy name isn't it?" She asked politely, not meaning to offend in anyway, just wondering. Thomasine glanced down the path, then around. "Well, I heard there's some nasty monsters in the forest, so it makes sense that you wouldn't really expect anyone else to come this way." She said, looking at the trees, ears moving slightly to try and hear anything in the forest.

"Shane is usually a boy name, but master told me I was named after a friend of hers, so I guess girls sometimes have the name too." Shane smiled, not really knowing what to say, but fascinated now by the names that where given to people. "I have heard that there where monsters in the forest, but I have not yet encountered one.” She was worried now; she had always been careful when she came into the forest and never strayed from the path, so she hoped that they would not come in contact with anything unfriendly. “Wait, so you have a twin?” Shane asked jumping back to what Thomasine had said about her name, she had never met someone with a twin but now that she had, many questions swam through her mind.

Thomasine smiled as Shane explained her name, but frowned slightly when she mentioned the monsters, feeling that she was the  reason her new friend was worrying. "Don't think about them too much, I've only heard stories, and from what I've heard they're only much deeper into the forest." She said, trying to reassure her. She smiled when the topic changed. "Yes, my brother Thomas is my twin. We both have the same coloration and everything. Some say that we act alike, but I don't really believe them."

Shane nodded slowly, "Well at least we are on the outer rim, because I don't know if I could take a monster." she said laughing a little. She flicked her tails a little as Thomasine talked about her twin, she was intrigued by the fact that she had not met twins before, and now one was standing in front of her. “So what’s it like to have a twin? Do you spend a lot of time together? What is your twin like? If he is your brother do people still get you confused?” Shane tried to get as many questions out as she could before taking a breath, she knew that she was probably making Thomasine feel uncomfortable but she was dying to know about her.

Thomasine chuckled. "I don't think they'd be too hard to take on." She listened as Shane rattled off questions, trying to remember them all. "It's nice having a twin, although it's kinda like having any sibling, fun one minute, then gets on your nerves the next. We used to spend a lot of time together, not so much nowadays, since we've both grown up and are doing our own things. When we were kits people seemed to get us confused, but the older we got the fewer people confused us, and now it's a bit easier to tell us apart." She said, hoping those answers were good enough.

[Sarah]

“Hmm,” Shane thought for a second, but decided that for now she was content to let her questions rest. “So what brings you here to the forest? Are you from around here?” she asked, still enthralled with the fact that she had met someone new. “I’m sort of close by, but not really, it’s hard to explain. Basically I live in a big house with lots of other Kuhna  and we live near this forest, so I go on walks here when I get the chance.” She hopes that she made up for her questions by talking a little about herself so that way the information shared would be equal, or at least two sided.

Thomasine paused at the question, thinking. What brought her here of all places? She just started walking and here's where she ended up. "I live within a days walk of here, and for why I'm here... I don't really have a reason, I just started walking and here's where I came." She said with a chuckle, hoping that made sense.

[Sarah]

“That sounds reasonable, heck, I do it all the time.” Shane giggled; she loved walking and always ended up somewhere she had never planned on going. “I just hope you don’t get lost doing that.” She said, getting a tiny bit serious, that would definitely suck. “So you just live with your brother?” she had heard that sometimes siblings still lived together when they were grown, although she would never have that experience.

Thomasine shook her head. "No, I live in a huge place full of many different people and creatures. Some are friendlier than others and some have other homes and they don't really visit that much. What about you? You said you live with a bunch of other kuhna, what are they like?" She asked, interested. "Oh, and rarely do I get lost, and I usually ask for directions when I do." She said, chuckling.

"That is kind of like that where I live; at least where master has her property life is like that. She knows many people and houses a lot of them in exchange for different things. I live with other kuhna, like I said." Shane stopped realizing she had repeated herself accidentally "sorry, I already said that." she thought for a moment about who they were, their personality and how they got along. "We are all very loyal to master so we live together not far from her, she loves us a lot and we are kind of like bodyguards sometimes. The Kuhna I live with are all outgoing for the most part, but they all have their quirks.” She smiled she talked about her friends. “We are kind of like a family, but with no blood connections, well two of the Kuhna I live with are related, but the rest of us either don’t know our parents, or don’t want to.”
