A sleeping tabby cat soared in the skies above the slums, making her drowzy way to the cave to which she was summoned. Banta landed with a soft thunk on the floor and was shocked awake.
"Vincent?" she asked, "Oh, I just had one of the most wonderful prophetic dreams! Burdock was born happy and healthy at the stroke of midnight, and you were pleased, too, because some enemy of yours was dead for good now, and that Uasin girl teamed up with Iglein and slew Flame and Fire and Keruni. The world lay shrouded in peach and mirth. I cannot, however, disclose the name of my mate. You'll find out seen enough, and the father will get a lovely surprise, I'm sure. Woah, who's that?"

[Chayden]

She panted, gesturing wildly with her tiny paws.
"Tomorrow," Glyssis hissed, and the world disappeared into a cloud of black smoke.

Chapter 2.
Life.
It's a thing that should not be taken for granted.

Banta blinked her eyes rapidly, adjusting them to the gloom.
"Vincent?" she whispered, swishing her tails. "Are you there?"
Relieved, Vincent rubbed his head against her flank. "What just happened?"

[Chayden]

"I don't have the slightest idea, Vincey. But where's Bionne?"
The pair struggled through the mist, calling for the girl. Glyssis had taken her to the fiery pit beneath the Earth's crust that was the home of the Hellians.
"Tiger," the Elder hissed, prodding the thick cat's shoulder with a needle-sharp claw.

[Chayden]

He ignored her; needless to say, there was a severe consequence.
The Devil's eyes turned a deep crimson and her teeth and claws grew disproportionate to the rest of her body. Tiger's deep brown tabby pelt was singed and his golden eyes bulged as if he were being squeezed. Glyssis leapt upon him, instantly drawing blood from his gut and shoulders. He writhed in pain as snakes from the Underworld laid siege to his senses.
