Mephit was the first to arrive at the center hall of the guild where he was meeting his soon-to-be team for the first time. Charlie had told him that he was chosen for a very special mission and that his teammates would be chosen by the guild leadership as well. He was fine with that as he hated being paired up with his sister all the time anyway. The Sylveon sat proud in the middle of the room waiting for the big adventure to begin.

Keo let out a light sigh when he stepped into the hall and realized who was sitting there. It was that dingus Sylveon who was always running around. They hadn't been properly introduced before, but he was already under the assumption he wasn't going to like it. Not that they could possibly have picked a teammate he would 100% approve of anyway. He was in no hurry as he slowly made his way over to his 'new team'.

So. Mist. Was that really such a big deal. Was it even hurting anyone? Rae huffed and flicked her fluffy tail, pulling herself up onto two legs and flicking her ears. Behind her, Cayden bounced on the balls of his heels and craned his neck, trying to get a view of the hall.

"Who... are we meeting with again? What were they?" The Grovyle muttered to the Zangoose.

Rae sighed and turned back to the gecko pokemon. "Uh... A... Sylveon? I think. It'll be nice having a strong evolved pokemon on our team." she replied, considering the situation from a tactical standpoint. Also nice if they had to deal with dragons...

"Psh. I manage just fine." Cayden snorted back, before his short attention span got the better of him and he was pointing across the hall. "Hey, that looks like a Sylveon!"

Mephit noticed the Grovyle and Zangoose first. He tilted his head a bit and twitched his ears to listen to what they had to say. Normally he wouldn't be so eager to overhear someone else's conversation, but he really wanted to know if they were his new team or not.

When he confirmed that they were looking for him, he lifted one of the bows on his head and waved it exaggeratedly like a bipedal Pokémon might do with their hands. "Hey, over here! Are you part of the special team?" Wait, was he supposed to keep that a secret?

Keo figured he probably couldn't hide any more, so he crept over to the Sylveon and tried not to look out of place. The white Vulpix sat quietly in place and licked his paw. He was simply waiting for someone else to notice him, though he tried not to make it look like that was what he was doing.

"Hey hey!" Cayden hopped over to the Sylveon and stopped just short. Rae's face twisted a bit, not sure if she'd be able to keep up with the sheer energy of this grass lizard. She had no idea how Tal managed it, but the Feraligatr somehow tolerated the Grovyle even climbing on him to get a better vantage point sometimes.

The Zangoose casually fell back onto all fours and ambled over to the Sylveon and Grovyle. Rae was about to follow up with a confirmation when she noticed a little Vulpix behind. How long had they been there for? She gave Cayden a swift nudge and slightly inclined her snout in the Vulpix's direction.

"Yeah, we are! Have you even seen the mist-" Cayden blinked at the interruption and then immediately snapped back into gear. "Hey, are you with us as well?"

"Hi," Mephit said with a grin. He was pleased that he had found the rest of his team so quickly. Now they could get started on the mission right away. As soon as they got through the introductions, that is. Mephit, having been raised in the wild with just his sister, still found pleasantries like formal introductions a bit weird. He would much rather get straight to the point.

Mephit opened his mouth to answer the question, but his answer was interrupted by the second one. He curiously turned to look behind him to see what the Grovyle was talking about. Much to his surprise, an Alolan Vulpix was sitting there. How long had he been there? Mephit was a little grumpy that someone had managed to sneak up on him.

"Yes," Keo said flatly. He gently placed his paw back on the ground and sat up straight. "My name is Keo, and I was selected to investigate the strange mist, if that's what you mean."

Rae raised her eyebrows at the Vulpix. "So that's everything then? Are you both prepared to head out now? I've got the location already." The Zangoose stated, pulling a dossier out of her satchel bag.

Cayden winced a little. "That's Rae. She's... all-business. Until you get to know her! I'm Cayden!" The Grovyle bounced on the balls of his feet excitedly as he sized up the team. "Grass, Ice, Fairy and Normal huh, that's... ah.." He paled a little, before turning to the Zangoose and trying to pry the note out of her claws. "-are we dealing with Dragons, Rae?"

"I don't know! My report says we're going to Crystal Cave. There's some dragons in there I guess." Rae snatched the paper out of Cayden's grasp, before turning back to the other pair. "Unless you've both been told another location we have to go to on the way?"

Cayden let a small whine out at the name. "Ice typesss, that's just as bad as fire-breathing dragons." he lamented, before realising his company. "Oh! Sorry, I mean nothing offensive by it, just. Type weakness."

"We both have Fighting moves Cay..." Rae reminded him with an eyeroll. Working with the overexcited lizard was a chore sometimes. She just hoped their company hadn't got too lost in that exchange.

"Oh, oh!" The Sylveon said excitedly. "I'm Mephit." He was pretty sure he hadn't said that already. Probably. "It's nice to meet you, Rae, Cayden, and Keo."

"Likewise," Keo said, though his tone suggested that he wasn't that interested.

"I am the best at crushing dragons," Mephit whispered as the comment about Dragon types came up. He was mostly talking to himself, but he also wanted everyone else to know how good he was at fighting.

When the location of the adventure was finally revealed, Keo put on a self satisfied smirk. There was no question as to why he was chosen for this team. He was one of the guild's best Ice type adventurers. Or he certainly thought he was, anyway. It might actually be true, considering how uncommon Ice types were in general.

"I'm sure we were chosen for a good reason," Mephit said. His tone was rather self assured.

"It's totally not just because we're the only ones not currently doing anything else," Keo muttered under his breath.

Mephit stood up and used his back leg to give Keo a little kick at the same time. Keo gave him a death glare, but realized he deserved it enough not to protest. "Well," Mephit said. "I'm ready to go. You've got a map, right? I've never been to the Crystal Cave before."
