Glass Onion walked across the vast emptiness with No Reply, her bond. She looked at the Staigovald, who was stamping his feet impatiently as he looked across the desolate landscape. Several groups of pets were scattered across the plains, occupied with their own training. No Reply was waiting to join them.
"Calm down, Reply," Glass Onion said, running her hand down his smooth flank. "We're almost to our place." She had asked Acropolissa and Lonely Heart to fly to the Plains and mark off an area for them to train in. The Rollaby and the Garudor were nowhere in sight, having gone back to train at home, but the section of ground was still there, edged by a low wire. Glass Onion reached into her backpack and pulled out a sign designed to clear confusion. It read "Open to Training Pairs".
No Reply lumbered into the area, which was five times his size, and stomped his feet impatiently, leaving huge indentations in the dirt. Glass Onion laughed. "Okay, No Reply. Do your stuff." No Reply nodded.
Stand back, he rumbled.
Glass Onion stepped back to the edge of the wired-in area as No Reply opened his mouth and snorted. A burst of electricity shot out of his jaws, burning a hole through the center of a painted wooden target across the field. He turned around expectantly.
"Very good, No Reply. Now let's work on your defenses." Glass Onion picked up her "Volt Box", a small black box with a plug sticking out of it. When plugged in, it delivered a high-voltage charge that No Reply was supposed to deflect. Glass Onion plugged the box into the USB port on No Reply's neck, sending a buzzing into the air as streams of electricity crackled over his smooth hide.
