Hydrokuhna

A Hydrokuhna wandered aimlessly around the vast plains. Her and her friends back at her barn had been given a day off, to roam where they wanted. For no known reason, she came here, and was now bored. "I sould have gone to the beach.."She muttered. She sat down, and looked around. Nothing. Nothing but grass and rocks. She got back up and padded to the rocks, then layed down. "At least these are warm,"She sighed.

There was another Kuhna out there, but he was not wandering as aimlessly as the Hydrokuhna was.  No, he was looking at what sparse vegetation there was around there and grumbling.  "Nothing for me to test my powers on," he grumbled; "Rocks don't burn, and these shrubs are hardly worth incinerating."

He kicked a pebble to the side as he looked around.  "Darn these plains... why do they even have to exist?  Why, other than for those horridly annoying Wombears?" he asked the open air, his eyes following the pebble he had kicked until it landed next to a rock where a Hydrokuhna lay.

Summer looked around again, and sighed. But, then, she spotted something. It was white, green, and...orange? She squinted her eyes to look closer. Then, she jumped up, realizing it was another kuhna! She raced over, relived that today might not be as pointless as she thought.
"Hi, I'm Summer!" She once she got to the spot. She could now see it was a male Brushfire Kuhna.

Fuego inclined his head slowly as he replied, "I'm Fuego." He made no other move to say anything else, other than to look around the plains again.  "Any reason you're out here, of all places?" he asked, shaking his head.  "I hope it's not to look for a Wombear.  Those things are so pesky..."

"Uh, no...My trainer let me have a day to roam free. I would have gone to the beach, or something like that, but I decided to try something new. But, your the thing I've seen out here other that dirt, shrubs, and rocks..." She said."My mistake...You?" she sat down, and waited for his answer.

Fuego shrugged.  "My trainer just kinda sent me out here because it is, quote, 'A place where I won't set too many things on fire'.  Like I'd set these pitiful pieces of shrubbery on fire.  They're dying as it is out here..." he said.  "My trainer and parents think I'm a pyro.  I'm not nearly as bad as this other Kuhna though..." Fuego, of course, was lying.  He knew he was a pyro through and through, he just wouldn't own up to it because there was never anything for him to set on fire.

"Oh, a pyro... That's...interesting."She said, and her heart fell.He seemed like a nice guy, but if he's a pyro, could they be friends? She could only hope. "Though, your trainer is probably right. It's a bad habit, you know. Once our barn caught fire, me and the other hydrokuhnas had to put it out. It was terrifing! There was smoke everywhere, and the embers on the ground burnt my paws..."

Fuego nodded slowly; "Maybe that's why everything that can be burned is stored safely away from me... AND Sable... if we had our way, the entire Pen back home would be burnt to the ground." He said.  He listened quietly as Summer told the story about her trainer's barn catching on fire, and then said, "Well, at least you got it put out, right?  One of the best things about starting fires is watching the Hydros and other Water elementals put them out." He smiled, chuckling.

"Well, it is fun... but that's beside the point. It ruins and destroys things." Maybe she could just talk some sense into him...maybe. "It cost my family a lot to repair the damage, and me and the others had to sleep outside for months!"

"That is true... but I suppose it would be a little hard to explain this; fire's in my blood, fire and strategy." He said, chuckling as he flicked a single tail behind him.  A faint glow began to come from it, and then, the glow slowly became a flame.  "I guess one could attribute it to my father being an Elder--I've always been around fire when I play with him." He said.

"Interesting. You are fire, as I am water..."She said to herself. Being made of another substace she could sort of understand it. Only, he is not fire, it just runs in him..."So,"she said louder now,"Your dad was an elder? That's really cool! I can't even remember my parents... I just remember being abandoned, and then Treat-my owner-finding me and bringing me in..." She said, taking a ride on memory lane.

"Yeah, my dad's and Elder, and my mom's a Common Kuhna." He said, shrugging.  "All my brothers and sisters keep telling me that I need to learn something more than just light things on fire." He added, recalling what Valastima, his sister, had said.  You can't always live as a pyro, Fuego, she'd said; because we can't always have all the Hydros at our disposal to put out your fires.

"Well, it might be helpfull, you never know. What if, one day, your fires get too big, and you don't a hydrokuhna to put it out? You could be in serious danger."She said. She really was concerned about him. Fires were unpridictable.

Fuego nodded quietly as he said, "I suppose you have a point..." This did not, however, mean that he agreed with the Hydro completely.  No, fire was in his blood.  His father had played with him for many long hours with his Elder-fire, and it had gotten into Fuego far worse than some would expect.

"Well, I can see I'm not making much of an impression on you. Oh, well. Let's just talk about other things now..." The hydrokuhna said, trying not to let the disapointment in her voice show. "So, what brought you out here again?"
