His owners had left him. Left him to starve, to die. They din`t care. Did they not know werecain are bad pets? Obviously not. Here Teddy was, alone, tied tight to a bench in the freezing cold air. The leather on his collar was embedded into his neck. Hes was in much pain. Lifting his head, he let out a sad, mournful cry.

He tried to struggle, only choking himself in the process. He tried to pull it off from behind, but that din`t work.
He tried pulling his head from the front. The cord kept digging in deeper, so he stopped. He tried using his claws, but could not get a grip on the tight noose around him.

He tried heaving himself out, using the bench as a brace. He was badly hurting his neck, so he stopped and rested for a while. He attempted at cutting the leather cord with the razors on his forelegs and tail. The leather was braided tightly and would not budge. He slumped down, tying to sleep on the cold, icy ground.

Must...get...OUT! He heaved, pulled and tore at it with his claws. It did not budge. He bit, twisted, chewed, and clawed it. In one heaving motion, he ripped through the leather. He was free.

Now that he was free, he RAN. He ran to the nearest bush, but than swerved and kept running. He felt so good, so FREE. He just wanted to stretch. Get his body moving. He finally dived under a large bush, and lay down to sleep.

He woke up, the cold night was very peaceful. He was still wary, though, and thought he should stay hidden for awhile. But, as the night wore on, hunger drove him out. He had no idea how to hunt, and so he began walking down the allyways. He saw a trash can. He saw his chance.

He crept up to it, not sure what to do. He sniffed it, than, he poked at it. Ow! It was metal, and cold. But smells of food came from inside it. He had to try.

Using his nose and paws, he knocked it down. It made a loud CRASH! He ducked around the corner, in case someone came. No one came, so he crept up, and sniffed. He recoiled, as the trash smelled horrible. He carefully nibbled something meatlike and grimaced at the taste.

He ate for a while more, eating everything that was mealike. It tasted really rotten, but hey, food was food, right? After finishing, he kicked it into a pile, and left. He crept down the ally, ready to get away from that place.

Walking through the streets, it was peaceful. Oddly peaceful. Teddy guessed it was from the cold, and no one wanting to be outside. But he liked it that way, and he kept walking. He walked on for a while, than finally realized how tired he was. He kept on going, looking for a place to sleep.

As he kept walking, it started to snow. Flakes came down hard. The night was just so peaceful. Just Teddy, alone. He kept looking, finally finding a bush to sleep under. He curled up, wanting sleep to come.

As Teddy slowly woke up, he glanced up at the sky. It was cloudy, and looked like more snow was coming soon.
He crawled out of his bush, shuddering at the cold. He started waking, looking for food. He stopped at a gutter that smelled slightly of food, and peered inside.

He smelled food down there, and he was going to get it. He reached his paw into the gutter. For a moment, he reached around. He pulled out something that smelled quite good. It was a half eaten hamburger. He gulped it down in one quick bite.

He turned around carefully, not wanting to run in to more trouble. He kept to the bushes in people`s yards, darting from bush to bush. He had traveled in this way some time, when the yards started getting more open. "I`ll have to stick to the street" he thought. He had to dodge a car or two, but he made it back to the bushes.

It was getting late. He had been traveling all day. Even though he wanted to sleep, he kept on going. It was safer to travel at night. The thing was, he did not even know were he was going! "Some place safe, and quiet." He decided to himself.
