Thud.

A groan could be heard as the Emowockee, who happened to be in human form, slowly picked himself up off of the ground. Brushing his hands over his ripped and slightly faded skinny jeans, he attempted to brush off the majority of the dirt that had stuck to them. A soft giggling sound seemed to be coming from inside of his ear, and he quickly waved his hand around his head, obviously frustrated. "Flit, you damn fairy, get the hell away from my head."

The Quiksylph settled onto his shoulder, arms crossed over her chest. "I'm not a fairy, idiot. I'm a Quiksylph. There's a major difference." For a moment, her indignant frown remained. Then it was quickly replaced by a gleeful smile as more giggling escaped from between her lips. "That was funny though. I told you that you were gonna fall and get hurt. Are you bleeding?"

Shade sighed. "I only fell because you wouldn't stop flying around my face and distracting me. I could have made it, you know." He rolled up his left pant leg and examined his knee. There was some scraping from the force of the impact, but no blood. "Nope, not bleeding. Wouldn't matter if I was, though. I'm used to it."

Satisfied that he was unharmed, the fairy-like creature nodded, and then glanced back at the swing from which her companion had jumped. "That was fun. Now what?"

"Now," Shade answered. "We sit and hope that something interesting happens."

It was a normal night for Aeris; she was gliding down the sidewalk on her skull printed skateboard. She was enjoying the cool breeze run through her long hair. While she was riding her skateboard she got distracted by a hoot coming from an owl in a nearby tree. Just as she looked back she felt herself slam into something next thing she new she was on the ground. As she regained her senses she saw someone laying on the ground next to her.

After what seemed like only a moment of silence, the sound of wheels on the sidewalk reached Shade and Flit. Turning, Shade saw a girl with kick-ass blue and black hair skateboarding towards him. She was still a ways away, and although Shade wouldn't have minded talking to someone who seemed to have similar taste in clothes with him, he figured that the chances of her stopping to talk to him were slim. Knowing that she would eventually see him and change her course, Shade simply stood where he was, although he turned his back so the girl wouldn't think that he was staring at him.

Suddenly, Flit shouted, "Shade! Move!" The sound of the skateboarding girl was much closer now, and Shade turned...just in time to get hit. For the second time that day, Shade hit the ground while Flit hovered in the air, shaking her head in disapproval, blaming Shade as she always did.

"Well, that was...interesting." Shade turned to face the girl, and realized that she hadn't gotten up yet. "Hey, whoa, are you okay?" He quickly got to his feet and offered the girl his hand. "Sorry, I would have moved. I just...I didn't know you were gonna run into me like that." He chuckled, despite the blood that was slowly oozing from his elbow. Again, he asked, "Are you okay?"

Aeris grabbed the boys hand and said "I'm fine just a little scrape on my knee. Are you ok? It looks like you're bleeding from your elbow." After she examined his elbow she noticed that he wasn't alone. Hovering above his head was a very interesting creature. After looking at it for a couple of seconds she asked "What is that?"

Once the girl had a relatively strong grasp on his hand, Shade pulled her to her feet. He waved off her concern about the bloody elbow. "Nah, don't worry about it. I'm used to a bit of blood." He suddenly felt uncomfortable with her looking at his elbow, knowing that if her gaze went down just a slight bit, she'd catch sight of the cuts on his arm.

Luckily, though, she chose that moment to notice Flit. As she watched the Quiksylph, Shade took the opportunity to roll down his shirt sleeves, hoping she wouldn't notice. After a moment or two, Shade heard the girl say, "What is that?"

Shade burst out laughing at the same moment that Flit fell to his shoulder, shocked and angered by the question. "I do believe you mean who is that, missy. I am Flitter, a Festive Quiksylph. What are you?" As she stood on his shoulder, fuming, Shade tried to explain. "She gets a bit offensive at being called an 'it' or being asked 'what' she is instead of who she is."

"Oh I'm so sorry I was just a bit curious. I've never seen someone quite like her please accept my apology." As she was talking she noticed the boy pull up his sleeves and could notice cuts running up his arms. She thought nothing of it at the time not wanting to offend. "Oh I'm Aeris by the way whats your name."

[Kitsumi]

Flit huffed, but didn't make a big deal about it. "Well, I suppose I am pretty unique. I'll accept  your apologies this time. Next time, though, I'll be showing you that it's the small ones who pack the biggest punch." Shade sighed. "Flit, stop that. Be nice, for once, please?"

He offered a smile - faked, but she wouldn't know that - to Aeris. "I'm Shadecaster. Call me Shade."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Shade and it's nice to meet you too Flit. So what are you guys doing here. As you can see I'm skateboarding" She was still kind of embarrassed that she ran into him with her skateboard. As she was thinking about what just happened she also thought about what she used to do before she found skateboarding. Suddenly she had a flash back of a hand holding a knife and a needle sitting on a bathroom sink. She brushed off the flash back and went back to the boy and his little friend.

[Kitsumi]

Shade shrugged. "We're just...you know. Hanging out." He gestured to the park area behind him. "It was a pretty boring night, so Flit and I decided we might as well come here." At this point, Flit butted in. "No, he decided we might as well come here! I wanted to stay home and watch movies or something. But he just had to come out here, and I came so I could keep him out of trouble."

Rolling his eyes, Shade opened his mouth to tell Flit to shut up, but something stopped him. There seemed to be something wrong with Aeris, and he wondered what it was. "Is everything okay?"

Aeris looked at the boy and said, "I'm fine I was just thinking about something that happened to me a long time ago." All of a sudden Aeris got a headache. She looked back at Shade and said, "Sorry about that, I just got a headache." She opened up her purse around her side and dug around until she found the Tylenol that she kept in there in case of an emergency. She opened up the bottle and grabbed one of the tiny pills and took it.

[Kitsumi]

Shade became concerned as the girl seemed obviously in pain. "Ugh, headaches are the worst." As she looked through her purse for pills, Shade jogged over to the swings, where he had left his backpack. When he came back, just as she popped the pill into her mouth, he held a water bottle. He opened it and handed it to her. "Here, drink something with that."

After a moment, Flit suddenly burst out laughing. "Hey, Aer-head! You should see the way that Shade's ogling you right now. He probably wants a good snogging!" She continued laughing, even as Shade turned bright red and flicked her off of his shoulder.

When Shade handed her the water bottle she said, "Thanks." After she took a drink she heard Flit say, "Hey, Aer-head! You should see the way that Shade's ogling you right now. He probably wants a good snogging!" When she heard Flit say that she blushed. Then she saw Shade flick her off of his shoulder where she had been sitting. After seeing Shade do that she handed him back his water bottle.

[Kitsumi]

Shade took the water bottle and smiled at her sheepishly. "Sorry...Flit doesn't know what she's saying, honest. I wasn't ogling you, and I certainly don't want any...snogging." He blushed brightly at the last word, and looked away.

After a moment of awkward silence, in which Flit flew back onto Shade's shoulder, still chuckling quietly, Shade cleared his throat. Pointing to her skateboard, he asked, "So, how long have you been skateboarding? I've always wanted to learn, but just...haven't had the time or the motivation."

"I've been boarding around 2 years now. I started doing it to help me through my depression and to help me from getting angry. If you want I could teach you how. Well if you wanted me to." After saying that Aeris looked away and blushed a little then looked back at Shade.

[Kitsumi]

"Depression?" Shade was unable to hide his shock at her words. "You...have depression? Or used to, I mean. Or...do?"

Flit started laughing. "Oh, god, you guys are two peas in a pod you are! Shade is always depressed; You have no idea how many times I've had to keep this big lug from offing himself." Suddenly, she clapped her hands over her mouth. "Oh, darn...I don't think he wanted me to tell you that."

Shade looked away, embarrassed. "Umm..."
