Strolling Through The Park With A Sword On My Back {Self, L}

Postby Elektra » 04/15/2012 12:59 AM

The day had been to slow for Kasumi to bear, and she'd left early, hoping that the dojo would still be standing when she got back.  Tsukiko had been there with that odd Ulquiorra boy again, kicking his ass again in an attempt to train him, and she knew she could trust the dojo to that girl.  She entered the park, shading her eyes from the afternoon sun.  She moved her shoulders a couple of times, trying to reposition the katana she had on her back, but to no avail.  Finally, she just pulled the damn thing off, and carried it in her hand.

If you knew knew what the bluebirds sang at you
You would never sing along
Cast them out cause this is our culture
These new flocks are nothing but vultures

Because they took our love and they filled it up
Filled it up with Novocaine and now Im just numb
And don't mind me, Im just a son of a gun
So dont stop, dont stop until your heart goes numb
I dont feel a thing for you

Once she cooled off a bit, Kasumi looked around for a bench, but they were all occupied.  There were mothers strolling around with their children, fathers throwing baseballs with their sons.  A typical day if she did say so herself.  Of course, the looks from the parents around her were beginning to get annoying.  Hadn't they ever seen a sword before?

When she got about half way through her walk, a little girl came up to her, and pointed at the katana in her hands.  "This?" Kasumi said, motioning to the sword.  The little girl nodded, but just then, a frantic woman came running up.  She grabbed a hold of the girl, and pushed the child behind her.  "You keep that thing away from my daughter!" the mother said, annoyed.

"Excuse me?" Kasumi replied indignantly.  She had no intention of unsheathing her sword, at least she hadn't until that point.  And to be honest, she still didn't.  The idea of scaring the woman a little bit was tempting, but she knew better than to cause a scene.  "Look, this is not a toy, and I'm not a kid.  I know how to handle this weapon safely, and I wasn't going to let your kid touch it." she said sharply.

The mother had her mouth open slightly, shocked at the brazen attitude of this girl.  She was even more shocked when the girl turned sharply on her heel, and started to walk away.  "Hmph.  Whatever, just begone with her..." the woman muttered, grabbing her child's hand and leading her off.
Kasumi looked back after a couple of minutes, and sighed.  "Thank god that idiot is gone..." she said.  "Lucky she didn't stick around any longer.  Don't know how long I could've put up that kind of attitude."

Today really just was not her day.  Kasumi had barely made her way into the park when yet another kid showed up, and this time their parent was in tow.  However, what happened next really wasn't what she had expected.  There was a young boy standing in front of her, oggling at the katana now fastened on her back, and his father was doing the same.  "Excuse me miss, but do you think you could show my son your katana?" he asked, patting his kid on the head.  Kasumi almost did a double take at that point.  An adult asking for her to unsheath a lethal weapon in front of a five year old kid?  What was up with this man?

"Um, did I hear you right?" Kasumi questioned, wanting to make sure she wasn't hearing things.  When the father nodded, she just stood there, unsure of what to do.  "Well, it isn't really safe to have a weapon like this one out in such a crowded area..." she said, trying to think of some excuse.  However, that first one was shot down as the little boy grabbed on to her hand and started to pull her out of the crowds and towards a shady clearing.  He simply stood there when they reached the clearing, staring at her with wide eyes.

When she looked down, Kasumi realized she really couldn't say no to this boy.  Sighing, she muttered something about this being a pain in the ass, and then reached behind her.  She pulled the sword out in one fluid motion, and brought it in front of her.  She was careful to keep a good ways away from the boy, but he still kept trying to move closer.  "Careful now!" she urged, trying to keep him away from the blade.  "C'mon lady, cut something!"

"Okay, look kid, I'm working on it!  But this sword isn't some toy!" Kasumi said, rolling her eyes.  It seemed like she simply couldn't stress that point enough to the boy or his father.  Shaking her head, she turned around, and gripped it with one hand, and brought it down swiftly.  She grinned as it whistled through the air, and sliced cleanly through the nearby branch of a tree.  "Happy, kid?" she asked, still smiling slightly.  She really couldn't help it, she loved doing what she was best at, and this sure was hell was it.

"Holy crap!  That was awesome, lady!" the boy exclaimed, jumping up and down.  The father clapped his hands lightly together, and then thanked Kasumi.  "No problem, I guess..." she said as the walked away.  It wasn't that she didn't like showing off her sword and skills to others, but it had been a little weird having a dad ask her to do that for a little kid.  After all, she didn't want to inspire them to get the boy a sword of his own.  "Oh well..." she said, walking the other direction.  "I guess I'll see him on the news if that happens."

Kasumi continued her stroll through the park, and wondered what Tsuki and that Ulquiorra boy were doing back at her dojo.  From what she'd learned, Ulquiorra had just recently shown up in town, and Tsukiko had taken him in immediately, even though she was pretty new herself.  It was odd, but then again, those two were pretty weird themselves.  Tsukiko had an uncanny expertise when handed two daggers, and Ulquiorra, aside from being completely emotionless, was extremely analytical, and could dodge litterally any attack.  She'd looked them both up before, and had found records of them each, but knew immediately that they were fake.  She just couldn't figure out why they would both mysteriously show up like they did...

To be honest, she hated not knowing things, it was horrible for her, having to sit around and realize that there was something that they knew which she didn't.  Kasumi had tried to snoop around, but every time she seemed to stumble upon something about the two, it was as if someone pulled it away, and made her start all over again.  She wasn't quite ready to give up, but she'd stopped for the time being.  After all, Tsukiko was simply to close to her to turn around and stab in the back, which was what Kasumi typically did in the past when someone was to stubborn.  This girl, she was just to different, to special to hurt.

THe park, she had to admit, was beginning to get annoying, and Kasumi made her way out through the back gate.  Sighing, she was happy to be out of the fray.  She started back toward her dojo, humming a tune as she neared the building, and was slightly disappointed to see the building was empty and dark.  However, she knew that they had only recently left.  She envied those two, she really did.  Ulqiuorra was in love, but had no way to understand what it was he was feeling, and fought to reject the foreign feeling.  Tsukiko loved one to many men, and was to conflicted to show anything to Ulquiorra.  Every move they made pulled them closer together, and then the next step pried them apart.  It was sweet, even though she knew that there was something deeper that they both were keeping hidden.  Truthfully, if this all kept up, Kasumi wasn't sure if she'd be able to stay out of it.  But for now, she would leave them to their own problems.

-End-

P.S. This was one of the many RP's to get the feel for each of these characters that will play a significant role in my plot here.
