"Mhm, mhm," Crow murmured, sitting back on his heels as he stared at Cygnus very closely. He felt excited; that's what this feeling was, wasn't it? He felt like he wanted to shout with joy or stay silent with fear. What if Cygnus couldn't find anything? What if the stars didn't tell him anything. Crow took off his hat and fiddled with it in his hands, rubbing his thumb over the rim of it. "D-do you see anything?" he asked, leaning forward slightly, his voice a little bit shaky with nervousness.

But there will come a time
You'll see, with no more tears
And love will not break your heart
But dismiss your fears
Get over your hill and see
What you find there
With grace in your heart
And flowers in your hair

"Tomorrow will be a good day."

He melted away into another world with many images flashing by. At first this sensation was very uncomfortable and disorienting, but he had come to control it over the years. It was much harder if he was trying to do it on purpose, but he trusted that it was the right time to try. Normally he would not even reveal his ability, especially not at someone else's request. However, the stars had brought them both out here, and he was sure now that it meant something.

The images slowed down, indicating that this is what the stars wanted to show him. First, the image of a particular silver locket upon someone's neck, then the image of a... fair? And just like that, the images were gone, the spark returned to his eye, and he was back with Crow in reality.

A brief moment of vertigo washed away with the sound of Crow's voice, eagerly awaiting good news. Unfortunately what he saw didn't seem to make any sense, but he could try to share it anyhow. "I saw... a silver locket." The other part didn't seem to make sense, so he decided not to share it.

"Sorry there was nothing more... direct. They don't always answer questions in the way we would want them to."

Crow's eyes were trained on Cygnus' face, the sharp pupils dancing slightly as his gaze flicked from place to place. "A... silver locket," he repeated, his brows knitting together in bemusement. "Well... that is kinda direct. I mean, I just have to look for a silver locket, right? Maybe if I find it, it'll lead me to someone who knows something!" Crow suggested, his whole body seeming to ratchet back to excitement as he leaned closer to Cygnus, talking quickly. "I can't believe it... you really saw that? You saw something? You're not lying, are you?" he asked quickly, his face immediately growing a little suspicious.

Cygnus was conflicted about this entire encounter. It was so unlike him to open up to a stranger like this. There was just something about this whole situation that felt slightly unsettling, yet he charged on through it anyway. Very strange. He would have to record it as soon as he had time to be alone with his journal.

The stranger's enthusiasm made Cygnus uncomfortable. It wasn't possible to just go looking for the signs of the future. Plus, even if it was, where would one even start? He started to feel bad for leading him on, he never should have shared anything. ... but he did, despite his best judgement.

"I'm not sure," Cygnus said gently. "You may not be able to find it until it wants to find you." There he was, talking about inanimate objects like they were people again.

"That is what the stars shared with me, yes, but I can't promise it will be of any use. Be careful what you wish for."

How cliché.

(No problem! ^^)

Crow stared at Cygnus as he spoke, his suspicious expression slowly fading to a blank look. Until it found him? Lockets couldn't find people... that was just dumb. It seemed Crow didn't quite understand what personification was, because he tilted his head and frowned at the man. "You sure you saw a locket, guy?" he asked, putting his hands on his knees and tilting his chin up. "Because I think you're just lying, anyway."

Crow's eyes flashed to the book in Cygnus' lap, and with a flash of a hand he snatched it away and stood up with a harsh laugh. "Maybe this book will tell me something better!" he said, taking a few steps away and trying to undo the clasp on the old leather, finding it a bit difficult.

Of course...

Cygnus was beginning to greatly regret sharing anything with this stranger who had happened by. It wasn't fate at all, just an annoyance. He should have just stuck to his journal and ignored everything else, like he always does. A nice quiet approach to life, tried and true. "Never mind. It's probably not important," he said, sounding somewhat defeated.

If he didn't regret it before, he definitely did as soon as his book was removed from his grasp. He jumped up to his feet, his usually calm face growing indignant. To accuse him of being a liar was one thing, that was pretty common, but to take his journal was unthinkable.

"Please give me the journal back," he said in a calm yet stern, definite tone.

Crow's eyes flashed with mischief, then seemed to fizzle out for a moment at Cygnus' less-than-furious tone. Well, that's no fun... Crow grinned, though it seemed to be a coverup for whatever disappointment and incredulity the news about the locket had left with him, but it flashed in the growing dusk all the same as he darted further away, still facing Cygnus. "Hey man, no way!" Crow cackled, tucking the book under his arm once he'd realized he couldn't open the thing. "You're gonna have to get it from me! Or else it's finders keepers!"

Cygnus fancied himself a rational man. A peaceful sort, who didn't like to make any trouble. Seems his companion wasn't in on this plan, however, and he would have to take action. It seemed childish to just run after him. What good would that accomplish? Still, standing here asking 'politely' wasn't helping either.

"I don't know who you think you are," Cygnus said in a bitter tone, "but I for one am not finding this funny. That book is too important for a childish game of keep away." In a way, he knew that wouldn't work, but he felt like he had to try. He took two strong steps toward Crow but made no indication that he would do any more.

While he had never been separated from the tome long enough to find out what would happen, there were some things he really didn't want to figure out the hard way. There was a strange power in that journal, and even he hadn't figured it out completely yet.

[Cries, I'm sorry Cygnus but Crow isn't a nice guy pfft. x'D! I feel so bad ffff]

Crow blinked as Cygnus' tone changed, and he flinched as he stepped closer, instinctively shrinking back for a moment. He held the book close to his chest, then grinned, a forced smile of confidence as he cackled out a laugh. "Hah, you're all talk, guy! All bark and no bite!" he laughed, tucking the book safely into his jacket and turning on his heel to dart down the grassy hill, looking over his shoulder at Cygnus with a wild-eyed grin on his face. If he'd just come to life a little, Crow thought. He wanted to see that.

Cygnus was quickly losing patience with this stranger. Come to think of it, he didn't even know the guy's name. Was this his plan all along? Had he come in and goaded him into letting his guard down, just so he could snatch the journal? That didn't feel like it could be true. After all, he barely seemed to know how important the book was. Then again, that too could just be an act. He certainly felt a fool.

When Crow tucked the book away, Cygnus felt his anger rise. He intended to bolt; it was written all over his face. He took a quick couple of steps forward, reaching out to see if he could grab it in time. But he was just a second too late, and Crow had already taken off. Cygnus stood frozen, hand reached out, unsure of what to do next. Somehow he knew that taking chase was going to be his only option, but he really wished it wasn't...

Crow frowned as the man didn't continue to follow him. He slowed down for a few paces, standing at the bottom of the hill, and he tossed his head up to stare up at Cygnus with a devilish smirk. "What's the matter?" he called up, cupping his hands around his mouth. "Someone cement your shoes to the ground? C'mon! You want this book, right?" Crow grinned, almost looking friendly for a moment. "Come ooon, chase me a little, at least! I'll feel bad if you don't put up some kind of fight!"
