There was nothing like running around collecting trinkets in the morning.

It was a beautiful day. The sun was warm, but there was a slight dappling of clouds and the breeze was cool. For someone who was out to run around, jump, and occasionally glide, it was perfect weather for being active in.

And the world that stretched before her was tempting. Look at that giant, colorful jungle gym over there, perfect for clambering over! Look at that playground, full of platforms to jump on! Look at that sandbox to dig into!

Yes, it was a good day to explore.

There were a lot of places to explore, but Redbird thought that the big playground setup looked like a promising one to start with. It was huge--there were no fewer than five slides coming out of it--multilayered, and full of NPCs.

Wait. Children. That was what they were called. Children.

Whatever.

She walked over to it across the ceder-chip floor. Occasionally, she'd pop up and spread her wings to glide--always made walking more interesting, she thought. So what if a few people looked weirdly at it for her?

She thought about jumping to the roof of the playground set and looking around. That would give her a good vantage point and maybe help her spot any spinning collectibles.

But she saw something more obvious.

There was a kid crying beneath the climbing net. The little Chimerantula had his head buried in his sickles, weeping his big, buggy eyes out. And if life had taught her anything, it was that helping crying children always resulted in big, shiny rewards.

She hop-walked over to the net and stuck her head under it.

"Hey, kid! What's wrong? Someone steal your lunch money? Want me to beat 'em up?"

The boy lifted his buggy head and twitched his antenna at her. He sniffled.

"N-n-no... I was playing with Cookie and our Frisbee got stuck in a big tree! We'll never get it down!"

Bingo! This was a quest if ever there was one, and there was bound to be a trinket in it for her.

"Want me to go get it? I got wings."

[Freezair]

He sniffed again. "Oh, would you? Thank you, ma'am!" He flung his claws around her in a tight hug.

"Alright, alright. No need to get touchy-feely, kid. Where'd this disc of yours slip off to, anyway."

He pointed with one long claw. "Over there! By the rose garden!" There was a giant fir of some description shading the aforementioned garden, which was mostly just a collection of thorny bushes right now. And there it was--an oblong of sun-faded pink plastic, wedged into one of the high branches. ...Really high. Those kids had good arms.

[Freezair]

"I'll be right back, kid," she said. She pulled her head out and began looking around.

She wasn't so good at climbing by herself. So the best way for her to get there would be flying. Jumping straight up into the tree sounded awkward. She needed to descend from above... so the best thing to do would be to get on top of the playground!

She clambered up the pirate net on the side. A few kids yelped. She leaped towards the top of a nearby slide, pounced up to one roof, and then stretched her way up to the very top.

This was a good spot! A few of the kids below were shouting and pointing. She spread her wings, feeling the wind beneath her, ready to lift her up.

Admittedly, she wasn't a strong flyer without the assistance of a power-up. But she could definitely glide there!

She pushed off against the playground... and was airborne! The wind was at her back. The distance between the playground and the tree felt short from the air like this. She angled down, aiming for the tree--

Keee-rack!

Tree branches were a lot more... mobile than she expected. And whippy. And her tail was tangled up in one.

But she could grab the Frisbee!

She grabbed the disc in one talon.

Now there was just the little matter of getting down.

Slowly. With wings being tugged in ways they weren't supposed to go. With branches snapping.

But getting down. Eventually.

She hop-walked back towards the playground. The little Chimerantula boy and his playmate, a Sahound girl, watched eagerly. Seeing the Frisbee in her claws, they started jumping and cheering--"Yeah! She got it! The nice Paragon lady got it!"

And with a chirp, she laid the disc in the wood chips at their feet.

"Wow! Thank you, lady!" the Chimerantula said. The Sahound girl beside him gave a happy little bark. She picked up the disc and passed it to him.

Then the boy looked confused. He felt the pocket of his overalls.

"Uh... this is really weird. But... for some reason... I really want to give you this shiny thing I found earlier. I think. I don't really remember finding it... Cookie, where did we find it?"

"I dunno," she replied. "But the nice lady can have it!"

[Freezair]

The little boy reached into his pocket (very skillfully, for someone with big sickle-claws instead of hands) and pulled out...

Cha-CHING! A Silver Magic Crayon!

"Heh heh! Thanks, kid!"

She held the piece above her head and sung a little ditty to herself. The kids in front of her didn't seem to think she was being all that strange... but the other adults seemed to.

Whatever! She'd managed to claim one of the Silver Magic Crayons here! That meant there were only nine to go!

She set off to explore the rest of the park. Who knew where the others might be?

That rose garden seemed fairly promising, actually. Though... this time, she wouldn't pass over it via the trees. Instead, she hopped her way to it across the ground.

There was a fence around it from down here, and a gate. Wrought iron, spiraling, and tall, it wasn't locked--it was just there to provide a touch of class. Redbird was a little sad it wasn't locked, actually. It looked like it would be fun to break down. Instead, she pushed it open with a talon and headed inside.
