Maybe he only wanted to stick here for 5 minutes, but Sergio hoped to keep Clovis here for longer than that. It was obvious the grumpy priest hadn't bothered to even dress casually, donning his entire attire that could almost pass as a costume.

"Have you tried the candy?" Sergio asked. "They're pretty good." He was positive that Clovis had no interest in the decorations or any of the attractions. It was difficult to find something the smaller priest enjoyed, but Sergio was getting the hang of it: and food was usually a pretty fair bet.

With curious glowing eyes, the dark vulpine carefully slipped their way between another newly formed crowd, some people of which were discussing something about a haunted house within the palace grounds. Though their curiosity was piqued, they were aware that with a companion such as Jace, an easily spooked Tundragoon, they would have to figure out a way to convince them to come along. Initially, Kumara had once again approached the tables filled with bowls of colorful candies to grab some for ther friend. Now, they were in a bit of a dilemma, relatively speaking.


Kumara looked back for a moment to see their companion, Jace, slowly approach them. He had slowly worked out the courage to approach the entrance to the palace. Tall figures in costumes were handing out candies in the same bright colored bags that Kumara obtained earlier. But a few were able to slip past and grab treats from the bowls directly. The Fellox was tempted to quickly snatch up some chocolates, knowing that the Tundragoon preferred them the most. But then, in a huge, pleasant surprise, they saw Jace bravely approach one of the disguised figures. He gently stretched out their ice-blue wings and gave a graceful bow at them. Clearly, he wasn't sure on the customs of Hallow's Eve.

Jace looked up at the person in the costume, and smiled. "What's that again, that all the visitors are saying?" He shook his head gently in realization. "Oh, yes. May I ask for... a Trick or a Treat?"

Kaden's instincts were proven correct when he noticed one of the skeletons slinking towards the two of them. His chest tightened, all the air in his lungs leaving in one quick whoosh of air. It's not real, he tried telling himself. It's an illusion, or some sort of projection. But his words did little to stop the racing of his heart, nor the sweating of his palms as he nervously wiped them against his jeans.

"What's wrong?" Russell had quickly picked up on the other man's sudden change in demeanor. "Is it the crowd? We can get going if you want. Let's just take one last look around and then we can go, okay?"

But Kaden couldn't answer, too busy staring at the skeletal hand slowly extending towards his cousin.

Whoever had come up with this event design deserved to be fired.

No, not the Halloween event. The party was fine, she supposed. There were certainly too many people in one place for her taste, and she wasn't entirely sure if what the kids were doing with their fruit punch and cupcakes was entirely sanitary, but people looked like they were enjoying themselves. Hell, they looked like they were having a grand ol' time. Unfortunately, she was not.

The source of all this misfortune was a haunted house. No, back up. The source of all this misfortune is that she had unfortunately gotten herself addicted to yet another mobile game. This one had been with her friends' blessing, at least; the gameplay loop centered around visiting different locations around town to fight bosses, explore dungeons, and collect treasure. It'll be a good reason to get out, they'd said. You could sure use the fresh air.

Well, she sure was getting plenty of fresh air. And social interaction, and frustration, and a whole lot of reasons why she never wanted to go outside again. As it turned out, the mobile also had an impressively finicky GPS locator, and it demanding exacting precision on the locations it brought her to. That wasn't too bad when the location was in a park and all she had to do was wander around until she walked onto the exact blade of grass or whatever she was supposed to visit. Unfortunately, this particular location was located directly in the middle of a particular room in the haunted house that bore a helpful sign saying really scary, enter at your own risk.

She sighed. She took a deep breath, and then another one. Maybe it was time to confront her fears. Maybe it was a good time to quit mobile gaming and finally do something productive with her life like her mother kept telling her to. Maybe she shouldn't risk her sanity for the price of several JPEGs and some fictional numbers.

The shadowy figure sighed to itself as it walked up to the doorway, dressed in a cloak and holding a fake scythe.

"You're being pretty lazy today, huh?" it asked the air.

Hey, look, today's my birthday, I think I've earned a bit of laziness! And at least you have a costume!

"Okay, okay, I guess this counts as part of my duties to you on your birthday," it sighed, waving a cloaked hand. "Whatever." By now, it had made it to the door, where it pulled a bag out of nowhere.

"Trick or treat," it sighed.

Tenma hadn't had proper time to look at the sign out front as he followed Grimmer in, the darkness of the place in comparison to the more brightly lit outdoors momentarily disorienting him. He grunted softly as he  ran into Grimmer's back, reaching out to steady himself on the other man's arms as he carefully peered around him. The foyer was elegantly decorated, certainly not the ominous thing it could have been. Halloween-ish, yes, but almost prettily so. If this was a haunted house... maybe this was a sort of safe room?

Grimmer still seemed... tense. Serious. Tenma gently reached up and tapped his shoulder and held his hand there, his expression soft but sober. "I'm sure we'll find her. You look anxious, right now, to me. Intense."

The taller man blinked, then faltered slightly, reaching up to touch his own face, as though hoping to know what it was Tenma was seeing. He let out a soft sigh through his nose and let his hand fall to lightly clap over Tenma's, before both of them let go. "I see... I didn't know I was making a face like that... I hope I didn't frighten that woman."

Tenma's expression melted a little with fondness, shaking his head and chuckling. "No. I think she's already frightened, because her daughter's run off. You clearly look like someone who cares." Grimmer seemed satisfied with Tenma's quiet assessment, offering the doctor a small, wan smile in reply. Tenma looked forward once more, and now that his eyes had adjusted... it looked like there were several offshooting hallways, as well as an upstairs area, one that undoubtedly lead to further rooms. "So... where should we go, first?"

It was only once she had her attention completely turned away and put some distance between herself and that thing, that something did finally happen.

With stiffness and clattering, the now unseen skeleton as a whole had begun to move around with life of its own. Empty sockets trailed after the pup before they'd lose sight of her entirely around some corner, and that was that... Or, perhaps not?

Unbeknownst to little Tondra, it appeared she had gained the attention of something inexplicable. For the unseen forces would now push that skeleton onward, to follow after her for reasons unknown.

"Tooondraaaa...! Tooondraaaa!! Where on earth did you go?!" Much further back, Millie had finally given up on her own endeavor of solving the mystery of the statue, and came to the realization that her companion had wandered off. Again. So now she was on the hunt to find where the little rascal had gone.

"I'm fine. I promise," Orion reassured his spouse.

Xanatos looked at him doubtfully for a moment before shrugging and continuing their journey deeper into the attraction.

When they got to the room declaring to be the most frightening Orion shuffled nervously outside of it.

"You don't have to do this, love. I know I'm even a bit unsure of it."

"Really?"

"Of course. The whole place reaks of fear in the force. I'm brave, but not force blind."

Orion swallowed nervously.

"Thine head shall make a perfect source of for my vessel" The ghostly creature hissed to Awyn. He stood there in shocked silence as the pale woman's hands started to slowly move off his shoulders and onto his face.

"A-a-ummm," he stammered, trying to figure out how to retort back. "Y-you know, I don't think that my head would be a good place to occupy. Too many things there, it's a bit cluttered and I don't think there would be enough room for you to fit." He said, trying to move the cold hands off of his cheeks. But as he tried to grab the wrists to pulled them down, his hands grasped empty air and his fingers slightly disturbed the outline of the woman's forearm. He took a big, audible gulp as he realized that he probably didn't have much of a choice in the matter.

"Y-you know what, I-I think I should be going now! Yup! That would be a great idea!" He said, staring off into space before slowly picking up his feet, soaked from standing in the fountain for so long.

Leo sighed.

It was Halloween. His sister had dragged him to a party. She was dressed up (of course she was) in a costume that she had described as a 'sexy baby', which seemed like a contradiction in terms, if not an invitation to crime. Between the pacifier, the 'bib' that barely managed to cover her chest, and the surprisingly revealing bloomers serving as a stand-in for a diaper... Yeah, he wasn't going to think about it.

"You should've dressed up too," Vivi was saying. "I'm just saying. You stick out like a sore thumb."

"And go as what?" Leo said sarcastically.

But he immediately regretted asking what he had meant to be a rhetorical question, as Vivi turned to look at him. "My sexy daddy, duh," she said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Leo shuddered in disgust. "You do remember we're related," he said.

"Yeah, that makes it funnier. Grow up, Leo." Vivi snickered, pleased with herself. Leo just sighed again. It wasn't as if this was news to him about his sister; she always did get a kick out of grossing him out. He comforted himself with the fact that she hadn't coerced him into it, which meant that she was just joking. If she was serious about it, she would've found a way to put the damn costume on him.

“Trick or treat?” Monday asked shyly. He scowled slightly at the snort and giggle he knew was coming from his friend behind him. He was doing what she’d told him to do!

Somehow though, he got his candy and skittered away to where Cassidy was still giggling. “Why’d you say it like a question?” She asked teasingly. He grumbled something inaudible and plopped down to pick through his winnings. Cassidy rolled her eyes and peered over his shoulder to see what he had. Monday hunkered himself protectively over his stash and glared at her.

Chess purred to herself as she sauntered up the path to the door. She was dressed as a security guard, albeit one whose outfit was much more provocative than you'd expect. It was a fun bit of irony, she thought. Smiling, she walked up to the door, holding out the belt bag she'd attached to her costume.

"Trick or treat!" she called. Of course, it would store far more candy than you'd expect from its size. This wasn't the only house she was hitting tonight, after all.

"I'm... sorry, is there a history between you and Tharan that I should have been aware of?" Arcann asked, and Xyshari waved a dismissive hand.

"He's... very assured of his own genius - not that it's without merit - but he's also a terrible flirt that had to be threatened with electrocution by a holographic life-form who decided that she had feelings for him to stop flirting with me, even though I rebuffed him at every turn," Xyshari said. "Although that didn't stop him from trying to make another pass at me when he joined the Alliance."

"So that's why you wanted me with you when you met him," Lana said. "To show him once and for all that you were decidedly unavailable."

This was definitely going to be the best Halloween costume in the entire city. Entire country, maybe.

Her confidence wasn't entirely unwarranted. She had come in second or third at any number of costume costumes over the past few years, and she knew - absolutely knew - that if she just had the right idea, she could win. Tailoring skill and design had never been the problem; the issue was simply that she didn't have a vision.

Last year, though, she had been watching the rest of the costume contest entries trot up and show off their designs, and she'd suddenly been inspired. Not by one of the victors, surprisingly enough. That would've been too close to plagiarism anyway. But there had been a nice-looking young man who was wearing what looked to be a realistic taco costume - she was pretty sure that was real lettuce - and holding a sign advertising some local taco truck, and she'd suddenly been hit with an idea. An ideal, maybe. She wanted to make something that would incorporate non-fabric elements in a cool way, that would merge the ridiculousness of Halloween costumes with high fashion, that was not a taco but which sandwiched all of these contrasting thoughts into one bombastic package...

Yes. This was definitely going to be the best Halloween costume here.

Ichabod heard the rumble of chatter, and made his way into a chamber filled with doors. Each one left him with glimpses into a different chamber; rooms filled with shadows and shapes, gloom, mist and figures, and each one letting out a different person as the doors opened and shut.

At the end of the corredor, a bright figure in a top hat and tailcoat beckoned with a cane, and shouted to the crowd, letting them through the door behind them in small groups. He began to make his way towards the figure, carefully avoiding touching anybody that came near him lest they turn into another trick of the rooms.

Ichabod felt a small body scurry over his paw, and looked down to see the Rattegan had followed him into the crowd and was trying to avoid being stepped on. He carefully grasped it in one paw, and lifted it up to ride on his shoulder, feeling its tiny claws digging into his fur.

As he neared the door, the crowd thinned around him, and the doorman grinned as he uttered the phrase "Trick or Treat" before the door swung open in front of him.
