Almost large enough to be considered a theme park while remaining free to the public, Terrace Park is rumored to have been the site of the Grand Hollowheart's defeat, leading to the Hollowhearts first accepting a pact with humans. (+2 Fame, +2 Endurance)

Return to Terrace Park

Postby Kestrel » 04/26/2008 8:47 AM

Hello. she answered telepathically, then turned away. She had questions of her own. What was he looking for? Did he know what a Mr. Wilson looked like? She wanted to ask him these things, but she wasn't one to talk. She headed back to the forest, leaning against a tree. She suddenly noticed she was hungry. How long had she been in this accursed park? Searching for some berries, she continued to try and find out the answer to the first question. He the roots of some burrs, and now he needed something from a open forest area.

Kregare's ears twitched uncomfortably when the lucain spoke to him telepathically. He always felt oddly vunerable when someone did, as if they could breach the protection of his mind. His eyes followed her back into the forest, as she leaned against a tree, appearing very bored.

He was about to make his way over to her, when he spotted what he thought was probably yarrow out of the corner of his eye. Quickly bounding over to it, he plucked it out by the stem, and continued on his way to the lucain. He spit the plant out, staring at it in disgust. The thing had tasted horrible. Kregare turned his head back to the lucain. "What's your name?" he asked curiously.

Astrum narrowed her eyes. She had heard of stories of people who could control other people by knowing their true name. He could be one of those people. He was looking for plants, at least. Who knows what he was going to be using them for? Mixing a deadly potion?
What's yours? she eventually decided to ask, following his every move with her narrowed light purple eyes. No matter how soft her eyes looked, if someone looked hard enough, they could alwasy glimpse a steely look to them.

Kregare shifted nervously under the lucain's piercing glare. His expression was guarded as she asked him his name, without answering his question. Did she have something to hide? He resseted the urge to childishly say, 'I asked you first!' Hesitating, he finally told her his name. "Kregare," he said simply, but his eyes were narrowed in suspicion. "So, what's yours?" he repeated.

Astrum paused. Could she trust him?
What are you doing? she eventually decided to say, avoiding the question entirely.
Her eyes never lost their suspicious glare. She needed to find out if he was some kind magic user, who could control her by knowing her true name. Maybe she should tell him a fake name? And see how he reacted?
Night. she added curtly. That would be her name... for now. Until she decided she could trust him. If that ever happened. She could tell that it wasn't going to happen in the near future.

Kregare flicked his ears in frustration as she again decided to ignore his question. He didn't answer her at first, waiting for her name. "Night," he repeated suspiciously. The way she said it, or more of thought it, made him feel that it wasn't her real name, but he would let it go for now.
"I'm here because-" he stopped suddenly, eyes narrowing. If she wouldn't tell him anything why should he? "What are you doing?" he countered. It was a small chance that "Night" would answer his question, but he could still hope.

She raised an eyebrow.
What are you doing? she repeated suspiciously.
This wasn't helping lower her suspicion, the fact that he asked her before he answered. If it weren't for the fact that he was the only talking creature around, she would've been in the forest a long time ago. She took a step back, prepared to run into the forest if he advanced, or gave a certain answer. If he kept avoiding the question, she'd keep going deeper into the forest.
This was an unexpected turn in her... search. Or hunt. Whatever it was called. She'd never expect to spend half her time here talking to a Leebra.

"Fine," he snapped. Who knew female lucain could be so annoying? "I'm helping a friend by finding some herbs for her. She a healer," he explained. He didn't bother to ask again what she was doing here. He doubted she would answer. Why he couldn't he learn to say 'no' to Yousha when she asked him to do something? Then things like this wouldn't happen.

She nodded. He wasn't a powerful sorcerer, then. But his friend? Healer might just be a term he used to not scare people.
Do you know what a Mr. Wilson looks like? she asked suddenly. Perhaps he knew, this Kregare personn.
And who is this 'friend' of yours? she added.
After all, she still needed to know if he was somehow connected to a powerful magician or sorcerer.

Grudgingly, Kregare started listing the things he knew about Mr. Wilsons. "A Mr. Wilson is a grey bird -sort of like a pidgen- that wears shoes on its feet. They live in flocks here in Terrace Park. Some people think they have heard them speak, usually random sayings."
He bristled at her next question. Did she need to know everything? "Her name is Yousha," he said shortly.

Gray birds? With... shoes? Odd. Astrum noticed the battlefield Leebra bristle. Too personal? Odd. She'd be more than happy to blather on about her owners, which she presumed that's what Yousha was, except for the fact that she didn't talk very much.
Why do you think the park is... empty? she asked, more to herself than him.

Kregare had no real answer to Astrum's question, as he had no idea himself. "It's strange, Yousha says the park is usually full of chattering evelonians." The leebra had only been to the park a few times, and mostly at night, so he had no real idea of what the park was like at daylight hours. But it had to be more busy than what it was right now...

"Are you looking for a Mr. Wilson?" he asked suddenly. Why else would she ask what they were? He doubted it was just because she was curious.

{Evelonians. *gigglesnort* Not sure if that's the right word, but not all of them are people... XD}

Yes. What herbs are you looking for? Maybe she could help him, he could help her?
Astrum, unlike Kregare, had never been out of the pen since she first arrived there. In the pen, there were no surprises, and usually never any new creatures. Unfortunately, now they were moving to a new forest. She had been one of the first arrivals. The lucain pen now had to be researched. She had spent forever just to explore her old one, to learn every crevice, tree, and rock. Now she had to do it all over again!

Kregare blinked to hide his shock. He hadn't expected Astrum, or Night, as he thought her name was, to answer his question. But, much to his surprise, she had. That was good...
"Yarrow, burdock root, and borage leaves," he recited. "I already found the yarrow and burdock root. Well, I think I found them. I'm not positive if they're the correct plants though..." Although Kregare had remembered what Yousha told him about two of them plants, he was clueless when it came to the borage leaves. "I have no idea what borage leaves are," he confessed.

Borage leaves? What were those?
Borage leaves? Astrum echoed, then added, Do you think we're actually in Terrace Park?
She definately wasn't sure they were in the right park. Were they even in a park? Or a nature reserve? After all, wasn't parks suppose to be full of... Evelonians, as the Leebra had put it. And reserves weren't suppose to be disturbed by anything other than animals that lived there.
