As an active volcano, few creatures venture near Nori for fear of being too close during an eruption. On most days there is a continuous slow flow of molten rock seeping through the mouth of the volcano, so travelers are advised to dress appropriately. (+2 to Endurance)

Return to Nori Volcano

Trotting back the way they had come Sun scanned the area for Rune, she couldn't see him anywhere...Hmm... I hope he didn't keep going the wrong way... Maybe he's taking a different route down the volcano, I should catch back up with the kuhna and Ashela, hopefully Rune will meet up with us later...

Turning back around she sprinted to catch up with the human, hollowheart and kuhna again, the heat didn't bother her and she hadn't gone very far back so she wasn't out of breath when she caught up with them. The air was getting noticably cooler as they descended the slope, Sun started to think about the directions she had been given by her friend, something about the Oasis being surrounded by tallish rock walls which made it hard to find with the amount of rocks around here, however it also meant that it wasn't very well known and as a result was a peaceful little paradise and wouldn't be overcrowded with groups of pets looking to cool down.

"Ashela" she called up to the human "Keep an eye out for a pool with trees surrounded by rocks, hopefully you will be able to see it with relative ease from your vantage point".

Frustrated, Lie shook his head violently. He wasn't pretending at all! Why would he do something silly like that? He resorted to pouting, staring below with a small scowl upon his features. He noted Sun's call to them, and began searching for the oasis. After some time, he spotted something that looked like a tree, and upon further inspection, noted that something like water was there as well. He was glad he'd somehow been able to see through the rocks. Lie pawed at Ashela to get her attention and pointed in the direction of the oasis, calling Go up, go up!, much to his dismay. Darned speech impairment.

Ashela went up, and, as it happened, above the rocks blocking their view. The one tree turned out to be a small group. "Thanks!" She said, smiling and directing Lonarch into a slight dip. They spiraled down and slightly toward the oasis, making it clear they had found something.
"When you get right down to it, dirt is dirt. Some dirt is better than other dirt, but we all feed off of decay. I'm nothing to anyone else but a good time, so I just do what I can. I'm to low to be a MOUNTAIN."
When I read those words, I wanted to scream out, into the musty pages of the wrinkled book, to become the human and GIVE HER THE WORDS: "All you need is an EARTHQUAKE."

Sun noted Lonarch starting to spiral down towards a huge collection of rocks, and realised they must have found the oasis, looking at the sheer tall slopes of brown and grey she realised she probably would never have found it if Ashela and her Hollowheart hadn't been here. Eagerly she picked up her pace, she was really starting to look forward to a little paddle in the pool that should be there, she doubted she could swim although she had never really tried, but a paddle would be more than welcome.

As she reached the smooth stone walls she cast about for any sign of the tunnel that should lead inside, and spotted a ledge higher up that she could climb up to for one last look for Rune, before she gave up on him.

Lie eagerly looked below, tails swishing giddily. He was fairly heat-resistant, but a nice splash in some refreshing water would be nice. It was truly amazing that all these trees hadn't been petrified by the ash from the volcano. Perhaps it was because they had a water supply? But if this was the case, then another issue arose: how did they get enough sunlight? Of course, Lie was able to appreciate the miracles and other wonders of life without thinking about them. Really, an explanation would, undoubtedly, make something so magical seem so very dull.

Ashela smiled down at lie as Lonarch landed. "Nice job," she said.  "This is beautiful." She looked around at the water and trees, which were both surprisingly like those found in a sub-tropical region; She wondered how they got here and how they thrived.

Lonarch himself wasn't all that fond of water, but enjoyed the cool and and was nice to fly in the humidity. Once he had dropped off his passengers, he launched back up and flew in loops back and forth over the area, stopping to see if Sun needed assistance.

Lie looked around him and grinned. It really was magical. He pranced up to a tree and jumped up, placing his forepaws on its trunk. He stretched out his neck in an attempt to see what could be found in the leaves. His tails swished about merrily as he searched, despite how fruitless he knew it was. He returned to the ground and dashed to the water, happily leaving in a with a decent splash. He laughed as he resurfaced. This was the most fun he'd had in... Well, almost as far back as he could remember.

Ashela laughed. She took off her jacket and belt, jumping in after Lie and splashing him. The water wasn't warm or cold, just perfectly pleasant.

After having climbed up to the ledge for one last look for Rune (and not spotting him anywhere), Sun decided he must have gone off to do something else. Leaping back down she started scouring the cliff like walls or rock for the tunnel entrance, she was nearly all the way round but hadn't yet found anything. She had noticed that Lonarch hadn't joined the others in the oasis and seemed to be flying so as to keep her in sight, she reasoned this was to see whether she managed to find a way in or not, she wasn't sure what Lonarch would do if she couldn't find the tunnel, maybe tell Ashela?.

Lie spat out some water that had splashed into his mouth, making sure it hit Ashela. He laughed afterwards, flailing his paws at random. He was acting like a little kit, but that didn't matter; he needed these childish moments. He didn't have them when he was a kit, so he needed to make up for that. And it was, truly, his pleasure to do so.

Lonarch landed on the ground near Sun, lowering his wing. He looked to the creature as if to ask if he wished to board. he knew that the Lucain may very well be incapable of getting over the wall himself.

Sun made a face at the Hollowheart as he offered to fly her in to the oasis, she wasn't sure she would like flying very much, but this tunnel was very well hidden, and she was sure she was missing out on the fun.
Changing into her human form for better grip she climbed tentatively up onto Lonarch's back, gripping as best as she could around his neck, she could already tell that she wasn't going to like this, cain were meant for the earth not the sky, but she really wanted to see the oasis now so she stuck it out as he prepared to rise.

Lonarch launched off. A few beats of his strong wings brought him to the top of the high rock wall, and one more brought him over it. He glided down and landed it the most spacious place he could find.

Sun gripped tightly onto the hollowheart, screwing her eyes tight shut, they didn't travel far, but it was more than far enough for her. Once Lonarch landed she jumped off of him as quickly as she could, feeling the good solid earth beneath her helped her to feel less quesy.

After a short break to recover herself, she changed back into her lucain form, and recalling her manners thanked Lonarch for helping her get in. Looking around herself she was awed by the beauty of this oasis, there was a little grove of trees, and the pool itself, the floor was soft and sandy, with rocks strewn about that could be used as seats. Padding over to the pool Sun lowered her head and tasted the water, it was pure and clean, obviously filtered through the earth, and slightly heated by the magma far below them. Stepping into it, she intantly felt refreshed, she found a shallow place where she could lie down and rest her head on the side, allowing her to rest for a bit. Ignoring the playful little Kuhna that was splashing around and having fun at the other end of the pool; she would play with him soon.

Lonarch nodded to Sun, resting one of his wing tips in the pool. It felt good on his muscles, and he wished there were a hot spring or another pool like this one big enough for all of them. For now, he was satisfied with a rest.
