"No!" Odysseus' bark was sharp and assertive. A wall of white glow leapt up in front of Cantella, soaring high into the sky. Pearly light enveloped both her and Odysseus. As Seraph jumped up, the wall relaxed. Odysseus gave them both a look of deep disdain.
Cantella looked more flustered and confused than frightened. "He's definitely defective," she said sadly. "I think you should return him--I bet his model was recalled; that's too dangerous! Would you like me to restrain him for you?"
The mist made a buzzing noise. It was not unlike someone blowing a raspberry.
