Pyrrhos walked at a leisurely pace towards the base of the shimmering mountain that rose hundreds of feet skywards, he could feel gentle tremors through the scorched earth as the molten rock below the volcano rumbled and gurgled deep underground. Everywhere he looked he could see heat waves rising off of the earth and the few sparse blackened trees that still stood, oddly though the male Lucain with his relatively thick pelt  seemed completely unfazed by the intense heat, he strolled along as if he were walking along a beach.

Reaching the base of the volcano, Pyrrhos leapt lithely up onto the surrounding rocks and began his ascent, he had heard of some caves inside the volcano that were relatively safe and he intended to go and explore them, but he had to meet someone first. The normally quiet and stern Lucain gave a little sigh of cententment and a chuckle of anticipation, it was so nice to be away from the twins for a while, hopefully they wouldn't find out where he had gone.

"Where to find him..." Mirage murmured.  She walked up to the base of Nori, anticipation simmering inside of her.  A few weeks a letter of some sort had come to her, amazingly since she lived under the desert, but it excited her nonetheless.  The heat was pumping her up.  Bathing herself in it, she headed on.  Soon she was at a steep wall, and lept up, grabbing and scraping at the walls until she found some trustworthy footholds.  Mirage looked around, then began to climb.  Heights weren't exactly her thing, they were Nila's, but soon she was at ledge.  Sitting, she morphed into her human form, throwing off her robe.  She was fine in her original form, but her human form didn't hold up against the heat as well.  Scanning around, she though she was a slight movement among some of the rocks, and headed that way, leaping and climbing toward the spot.  "Let's hope it's him." she thought.

It was getting harder to climb up the mountainside, loose rocks and scree kept slipping and sliding from under his paws and at times all he could do to keep himself upright was dig his claws into the rock and hope. He started to wonder why he had arranged to meet her here, but then he decided that the caves would be well worth a few scrapes and bumps. As he scrabbled up the ever steeper slope he thought he saw some movement further to one side, not just the movement of heat and steam, but flashes of red and pink of some sort of animal. Hoping he had found her at last Pyrrhos changed his trajectory and headed in the direction of the movement. It was much easier moving sideways across the loose pebbles and rocks than it was trying to climb up them, so it didn't take long to meet up with the red and pink thing, especially as it was also moving towards him.

Pyrrhos nodded his greeting at the female, wondering if this was indeed her, though he doubted anyone else in their right mind would be up here.

After a few more minutes of climbing, she finally found him.  After pulling herself up again, she shifted back to her original form, wondering why she had even chose to climb in her human form in the first place.  The male nodded in her direction as a greeting, but with no actual communication.  "So I take it you are Pyrrhos?" she said lazily, immediately noticing that he was a tough looking force, and her tone might show some lack of respect, but she was tired, and wasn't going to go out of her way to be all respectful.  "So?"

Pyrrhos raised an eyebrow and ran a critical eye over the Female Lucain stood before him, he took in her slim form, noticing that she didn't look particularly strong (or at least not to him), but then she didn't need to be if she truly had the powers he heard she had.

He took several moments doing this before looking her straight in the eye and finally breaking his silence, "I am" he answered in a stern voice, then paused again as he considered what to say next, he wasn't much of a talker normally so conversations were quite difficult for him, especially when he had to try and be polite to the other person and not just bark orders. "You are Mirage, yes?" he didn't even bother waiting for an answer before jumping into a very basic explanation of why he had asked her to meet him here "You can command fire I hear, i'm looking for more recruits for my Pack, particularly magically skilled ones. You are a perfect candidate, I will be testing your abilities." the last part was a definate statement and not a question.

"Yes.  I am indeed Mirage, and I hope you didn't think I was bluffing." With that, she closed her eyes murmered something, and her body began to ripple.  After a few seconds, you wouldn't have known she was there except for the faint movement of pebbles, and even that was carefully concealed by her quick agile movements.  Suddenly, she appeared behind the male, and said, "And that should prove it." Ending with a smirk.

Pyrrhos didn't even bat an eyelid as Mirage vanished and reappeared behind him, it wasn't that different to what the Twins could do, although they used Shadows rather than heat to do so, they also became completely ethereal and made no noise during their movement, but their talents were somewhat limited by the amount of shadows that were around and the ghostly giggles that tended to preceed their arrival when they were planning something mischevious. He had no doubt however that Mirage would move almost silently in a different setting, with less rocks and more grass or sand and on the hot plains or desert and even here the shimmering caused by her trick would blend in almost invisibly with the natural heat waves rising off the earth.

He turned to face Mirage once more, "Impressive" he stated, though from the tone of his voice it was hard to tell whether he actually meant it or not, "What else can you do?" he asked sitting down as if preparing to watch a show.

Flicking her paw as if accepting the complement, embers batted off toward Pyrros, but extinguished at her command.  "Oh, but of course, I do very much appreciate you inviting me to this meeting." she said, holding out her hand.  After he grabbed it, heat in her paw began to sizzle, transferring to his body. "I can do many more things, but I choose to leave those for combat tools."  Mirage tended to go out of her way to use those tools in battle though, and she couldn't exactly control them.  Barking, a ball of flame came out, shooting into the air, and disappearing.  "So?"

Pyrrhos couldn't help but smirk, it seemed as though Mirage was unaware of his own abilities with fire, and her attempts at impressing him further were quite amusing. Not that she was bad at manipulating their shared element, in fact he was pleased with her abilities and the ease at which she could use them. Suddenly Pyrrhos came up with a new tactic, he decided to attack her and see how she reacted, after all she was the one who mentioned 'combat' and a pack member is only good to the pack if they can provide for it and protect it.

The flame coloured Lucain stood abruptly, hackles raised to show that he meant business he growled deep in his throat, flames appeared around his feet and in a line along his back. His lowered his head to keep his throat protected and advanced on Mirage threateningly.

"Well well, if it's a fight he wants, a fight he'll get." Mirage thought.  Shimmering, she once more let the heat conceal her body, but this time, her whole body was simmering, so a touch could be scorching.  "Bring it on..." she whispered,lunging at Pyrrhos' wingblades.  Making contact, she let out a fireball, concentrated directly at his back.  She backed off and barked, embers flying, and a ring forming around him.  But suddenly the ring began to sizzle.  Mirage began to worry, this was the point that she couldn't really keep control.  "Focus!" she yelled at herself, and the ring, after a few minutes of slowly closing in on Pyrrhos, died down.  Immediately though, she collapsed, not really from the drain of her powers, for she could go much farther than this with her powers, but trying to calm down the extremes was seriously draining.

The fireball that Mirage aimed at Pyrrhos' back scored a hit, it scorched his fur and skin underneath but not very badly, he could handle quite a lot of heat before it got too much for him, after all what use would a fire user be if they couldn't handle it? Pyrrhos had been preparing to leap over the circle of flames that was closing in on him when they abruptly died down. He didn't realise that she had collapsed to the floor until after he had summoned several large fireballs and sent them at her. It was too late to stop them when he finally did notice, all he could do was pull them off target a little bit and cool them down so they wouldn't be so burning hot, they were still highly likely to hit her unless she could pull something off to stop them, but even if they did they wouldn't do too much damage.

Mirage woke up again and felt something scorching coming at her, and her instincts kicked in.  Abruptly holding out her front paws, she stopped fire balls and had them simply floating in front of her, then flicked them back, burning hotter than ever.  One had hit her, but truth be told, it gave her more energy as she absorbed it.

Pyrrhos was truly surprised when he noticed Mirage absorbing his fireball rather than taking damage from it, he couldn't absorb fire; though he was incredibly resilient to it and only took damage if it was extremely hot. Because of his shock he was slow to react, though despite that his reflexes were still quick enough that he managed to dodge the returned fireballs. Thinking quickly he decided that fire attacks alone were not going to enable him to win this fight, instead he would have to use whatever was at hand and brute force. Picking up a small pebble he set a fire around it, as it began to glow red with heat he threw it at Mirage using his power over the fire surrounding it to mentally adjust its flight path.

Meanwhile he set light to several more stones and pebbles, preparing them for his next attack. He may not be able to absorb fire but he was more than capable of making multiple and various attacks at once.

Laying on the ground for a second more, Mirage noticed the pebbles coming at her.  "What in the world does he think these-" But before she could mutter anymore, one hit her on the tail, and yelping, she jumped a good few feet into the air.  Realizing that as long as there was earth with the fire, she wasn't going to be able to absorb it, Mirage landed back on the ground with a flip.  Shutting her eyes, she focused on her inner flame, as she called it, and began to scorch the ground around her.  The heat was overwhelming, but within a few minutes, the sandy ground was transformed into a field of glass shards.  Blowing a flame of it all once more, she began to sweep her tail over them all, ignoring the blood from their cuts, and launching them at Pyrrhos.  After doing that, she didn't stop, but sped up her attacks.  Barking, she once more launched four simultaneous fireballs at him, then, ducking to avoid another attack, flipped behind him, and bit his tail, with even her mouth scorching hot.  

(Wow, talk about a work out.)

Pyrrhos was very impressed with Mirage's fighting finesse, she may need a little practise in keeping herself under control, nevertheless he had decided that she would be perfect for joining his pack as a Beta Female at least!

He dodged as many of the red hot shards of glass as he could, leaping around and sliding on the scree slope, some shards however hit their mark and the Male Lucain was left with several bloody welts on his body, none too serious though. He was preparing to spin and confront Mirage as she leapt over him, but he spotted some oddly moving black shadows towards the base of the Volcano and was too distracted to pay attention to the battle. With a small high pitched yelp he was reminded of the fact he was in the middle of a fight, albeit a friendly one, but clearly all the fight had gone out of him as he continued to stare down the Volcano, heedless of the small droplets of fiery blood that dripped slowly from one of his tails.

"Oh great, they found me!" he stated with a look of pained frustration at the twin shadows.
