Twist growled playfully, pouncing on Static as the young Paragon paused to sniff at some berries. Static squeaked, rolling around to nip at his traveling companion.

Teddy watched from the shadows, curious as to what these strangers were here for.

Static and Twist rolled over and over in their mock fight. Their wings and wingblades smacked up against rocks and branches.

Teddy followed them, careful to stay in the shadows.

They were nearing the edge of the forest that bordered the volcano. "Look, Twist! There's the volcano!" The little paragon twisted his neck around excitedly. Twist took the opportunity to deliver a particularly vicious nip to Static's shoulder.

Teddy winced at the pained squeal that echoed through the woods.

"Twist!" The Paragon complained loudly, tossing the Lucain off and turning to lick his shoulder. "You left teeth marks!

Twist simply sat there, panting happily as his tongue lolled out of the side of his mouth.

Teddy inched closer, nose wiggling as he sniffed their strange scents.

Twist bounded away from the treeline, feeling the ground begin to slope upwards beneath his paws. "C'mon, dummy! It's time for an adventure!"

Static chased after him. "I'm not a dummy," he cried.

Teddy waited at the treeline, unwilling to leave his cover. A small whine escaped him.

Still near the trees, Static heard the whine. "Who's there?" he asked, turning around.

He'd been discovered. Teddy paused for a minute before leaving his hiding spot. "Who are you?

"I think we asked you first," Twist observed.

Teddy lowered himself closer to the ground and growled. "I don't tell strangers my name."

Twist gave a little growl himself. "Well, we're not going to tell you our names until you-"

"My name's Static, and his is Twist."

Twist rolled his eyes. Why did Static pick now to be so talkative?

"Fine." Teddy flicked his tails thoughtfully. What name should he give today? "My name is...Rambo." Yeah. Rambo sounded like a cool name. Much cooler than Theodore.

"Are you sure about that?" Twist asked, tilting his head to the side.

"Yeah. You didn't sound too sure," Static teased.

"Yeah, I'm sure!" Teddy shot back, stalking towards them. "It's Rambo alright. And what's up with your stupid names, anyway?"

"My name's Static because machines like to mess up when I'm around. It's not my fault, really."

"My name's Twist because I like being hyper."

"And wierd," Static teased, nudging the Lucain pup with his wingtip.

Well, now that he knew the reasons behind their names, they'd started to sound a little cool. Teddy pouted a little, wishing his parents had named him something cool too.

Twist bounded forwards, touching his nose to Teddy's. "Hey, Rambo, we're on an adventure to the top of the mountain. D'ya want to come?"

"Yeah!" Static shouted. "Please come with us?"

The other kids' exuberance cheered Teddy somewhat. It looked like the subject of his name was going to be dropped. "Sure!  Are y'all headed up the volcano?"

"Of course." It seemed to be a silly question to Twist. There was a huge volcano in front of them. Where else were they going to go?

Static stretched his neck out and nipped Twist on the rump, then dashed upward. "Payback!" he shouted over his shoulder.

Twist growled and darted after him. "I'll get you for that!"

Teddy yipped happily and followed along. There weren't many kids to play with near his home, so this was extra fun for him.

Looking over his shoulder to locate his pursuers, Static tripped over a grey volcanic rock.

Static took a nosedive, and Twist took the opportunity to catch up. He closed his sharp puppy teeth around one of Static's wings, pulling back and playing tug-of-war with it.

Teddy bounced around them, barking excitedly. "C'mon, guys. Let's go!"

Static nipped at Twist, who danced away from his teeth. They pulled back and forth for a few seconds before Twist abruptly let go and began running again. "Rambo's right. We still have a long way to go if we're going to get to the top."

Teddy trailed along behind them, reveling in the sound of his new name.

The three skirted around a large boulder. It was buried halfway in the ground, so it didn't look like it would ever roll away.

"Look at the ground," Teddy said. "It looks weird, don'tcha think?"

Static looked down, careful not to trip again. "Yeah, it's all black and crackly and stuff. What's that from?"

"Maybe it's from where all the lava cracked when it cooled. I wonder how long it's been since it exploded last..."
