As an active volcano, few creatures venture near Nori for fear of being too close during an eruption. On most days there is a continuous slow flow of molten rock seeping through the mouth of the volcano, so travelers are advised to dress appropriately. (+2 to Endurance)

She continued down the rough paved road stopping in small moments to catch her breath and cough out blood, She had been the only one so far to survive their Deity's temper and feed him offerings to sooth him from destroying their boats and roaming the grounds for tasty villagers. She took pride with Pachi Lipepi, she actually called him; friend. The only 'person' who would listen to her and accept her presence was their great Water Deity. She would always take care of him first, and she would always suffer through the villagers beatings to protect them and her friend.

The fisherman crossed his arms and perced his lip eyebrows narrowed close together, he resembled a gorilla, in disgust watching the girl walk down to make sure she did just as he commanded before turning back to welcome the Honorable traveler who made his successful journey onto their island. His eyes widened and his brows rose "O! Sacrifice?!" he spoke loud and proud while nodding his head towards him, What a generous and a perfect offering for their Cinchalla Macha the Volcano God, He rose his hand to the foreigners back comfortably and pointed to the village and then stretched his arms out wide to indicate the villagers gathering 'sacrifices' as a big bounty, "Sacrifice, all go! All go" he laughed joyfully "Come!" he put his arm back to the foreigner's shoulder and pressed him to where most of the villagers had already gathered; and where they danced around their offerings and continued with their other traditional celebrations.

James winced and his hand headed for his pouch when the big islander put his hand on his arm, he didn't mean to, he knew better about hospitality for foreigners on islands, but the fact that this man was willing to hit a little girl so fiercely and likely did it often didn't make him feel like he was that ineligable for getting struck. He swiched on his friendly smile before his unease could possibly be noted and laughed and nodded to the islander, "Yes! Sinkalla Maka! Yay!" he grinned in his flat prounciation as he joined the festive ceremony of approaching the volcano path.

There were people already far ahead of the group with large man-hauled wagons carrying barrels of wine and platters of meat. Some of it was available to eat and some James was gravely warned against touching with hisses and pointing to the great mountain they were climbing. It was a great ways around a zig-zagging path and at some point, the wine finally hit his legs hard enough that he began losing his footing. As the walk became harder and longer than he expected, he saw some of the locals setting their offerings openly on the wagon, he stumbled over with his own coins and placed them in a gold bowl, using a slight of hand to swipe some note worthy bejeweled trinkets as he him self lag behind a bit. It was in this moment of distraction that he realized he'd wandered off the path and dangerously close to the slanted edge of the base of the mountain. It would be hard to gauge, in his state, exactly how far down that fall would be, but with a clever turn on his heal, his back was to his death and he stepped away; Well, he tried.

James was quickly rolling down the hill side with mouthfuls of branches and gut beatings from rocks and one nasty tumble with a log that seemed to be chasing after him. Finding his feet in a moment of sobriety, he managed to hop between two tall palms that barred his pursuing log, and in the moment it took to turn his head back to his course, a massive rock ended it all abruptly and James lost consciousness for what must have been a couple minutes. The locals didn't seem to notice.

She had successfully made it to the fishing boat docks and found the giant set of ropes that tied the fresh live fish they caught to the docks. She began to unravel one set of the ropes and pulled the fish out of the water and into a giant woven basket, she continued this ritual until securing all the fish; the giant fish that were half her size took a little longer for her to control and secure, but atlas she was all too familiar with this task and secured most if not all the fish they had caught. She wasn't perfect and still suffering from the beating she had taken so a couple fish did escape to live another day.
The basket was now filled and fastened with a lid she tied down to it (for no more escapees). The basket laid upon a wagon for her to pull across another roughly (barely so) paved path that only she ever took, two wheel tracks formed to pave an exact route to where Pachi Lipepi would be waiting.
She began her next journey in Pachi Lipepi's direction pulling the somewhat heavy wagon behind her, a couple minutes later and she pulled up to the egg laying coast where Pachi Lipepi protected the water beast eggs in. Her feet were worn out and her body had suffered some serious damage, but she was in no position to better her problem. And for now she would only think about Pachi Lipepi.
She left the fish wagon on the road and entered the soft sandy beach to get into the water to call out to Pachi Lipepi. Just a few feet away from the Volcano she looked up to where the villagers were; celebrating their sacrifices to Cinchalla Macha the Volcano God, their bright torches and beautiful songs sang out down to the beach she stood in. This moment was her peace, and brought a sweet innocent smile to her face. She closed her eyes and took in the smells of the beautiful island she lived on though she mostly smelled the iron from her dried blood, she continued to closed her eyes and take in the peace from the sea breeze.
After moments later of just standing in the shallow water waiting for the Water Beast, she turned to where she heard a small splashing sound and looked up to see the beats full form standing right in front of her.

James Leer, age 7?... No, 20...27. Yes. Years old, born in the Golomen Empire 7 years ago... no.. 27 years ago.
Stands 155.7 centimeters, not married, occupation: sailor... No... scumbag. There were filmy voices swimming around in his head, his mother's dim nasally voice saying something about never making enough rice, the deportation master telling him he forgot his shoes, a red skinned sea beast telling him to get off its back... SEA BEAST! "Yo-you can talk?!" James leaped from the boulder with a cry only to land harshly on a smaller, sharper rock right on the tailbone. He screamed out in pain and squirmed around on the dead leaf bed of the tropical forest. Then he felt faint, the color was out of his face and he laid flat for a moment to center himself again. I fell.. he recalled, looking at the sun warming through the fat tropical tree leaves above, he put a surprisingly cold hand to his numb face, It was wet. He looked at the hand he held above him and saw the deep colored fluid, well if that's all, I can count myself as lucky. he then pulled out the trinkets he'd stolen earlier, they appeared to be earrings with some very exquisite designs etched in their gold and beautifully laid jewels, clearly not something made by the islanders. He thought about the barrel of wine he also snatched, he'd get into that another time. It's the bigger stuff that was always easier to steal.

Finally, James stood up and looked around, the tree shade appeared to end up ahead and met the beach. He headed out to the beach right as the massive, (massive!) red skinned dragon came before the little Taka. James' heart fell at the sight of its unexpected mass and green body, it's bladded wings and tail. With out a second thought, blood getting sticky on his face, he pulled out a gun and his spear, stashing the earrings in exchange. He didn't waist a moment shooting the gun at the dragon, it's bark was so loud it echoed in waves through the volcanoe's moutain range. James Leer ran to the girl and grabbed her by the arm after stashing his pistol, intent on running for their lives.

She stared at Pachi Lipepi examining his beautiful markings and determined eyes. "R-ready?!" she choked on her dry throat, enjoying the acceptance of Pachi Lipepi, a loud and very scary sound went off near her and Pachi Lipepi. Dunking down to shelter and cover herself from the shocking sound she found herself in complete darkness, was this her end? Had the villagers trapped and executed her in front of  Pachi Lipepi? She lost balance and fell to her knees the shallow water soaking her clothes and skin. He moved only to protect the girl, she had been good to him, and her loss would mean a great deal in his normal everyday routine. He had swiftly moved to aid her, though the bullet did not reach them.

No, she had to still be alive! Looking up she was closer now to  Pachi Lipepi his green scales just out of reach. What was this? What had he put around her? Still hard to see from the instant darkness trapped around her she continued to examine around forcing herself up off her knees she stammered closer to the darkness that surrounded her reaching the end she grabbed hold of it... Was this one of Pachi Lipepi's wings?

Upon her touch Pachi Lipepi opened the fortress around her and sunlight instantly reached her eyes. Hearing the trembling growls from Pachi Lipepi's stomach she looked back to see what it was he was so angry with. And there; the man she saw never before, but today at the hut. Was running with his hand stretched out almost as if he had grabbed something and took off with it, but what exactly was it?

The man wasn't exactly running in a straight line... and in fact wasn't really running away from them. Perhaps he needed her help.. Or maybe he wanted to help offer the sacrifices to Pachi Lipepi? " Pachi Lipepi?" her soft voice broke the silence as she questioned the man before her. She pointed up towards the fish wagon as to potentially help ease the tension with Pachi Lipepi, and gesture to the man to open the basket.

((Just for a note, I get where you were coming from but I sort of feel like that was a little bit of G-moding, but he totally is disoriented so it's okay))

It was true, the fall was still hurting his head, the wine was still making his legs weak and the sky was extremely rocky and wet.
Wait.
What?
James had fallen over, the salty ocean waves were throwing a stinging feeling in his scalp. He rolled to his sitter, only his head had gone into the water, but now his butt did too. The world spun around but the sense of panick was still pounding in his chest. His brown curly hair was in clumps sticking to his neck and forehead, he suddenly realized he hadn't grabbed the girl, he seemed to have missed her arm and fell in the sand. damn that wine. he thought as he found his feet, "dun- du-on't eat her!" he slurred, partially from the head rush and partially the alcohol. Nice try old boy, but you're the only one who knows what you're saying. Dah! he cursed under his breath, he didn't have any more nets, his pistol was a one shot and he seemed to have chucked his scary spear in his fall. Probably shouldn't have been runnign with that to begin with. The girl was saying.. or doing something and the dragon didn't seem to mind her, in fact, had he noticed, the dragon was actually protecting her. Pachi Lipepi was also not attacking him at the moment. The girl was pointing at somehting up the beach, what? James spotted the wagon, what could it be?
"you want me to... I.. I go there?" he pointed to himself and then the wagon while looking at her and the dragon in turn. What the devil was going on?

She flicked her hand towards the wagon "(Offering),Tr'ah-el" Remembering what the old Fisherman had said when talking to this foreigner. Her voice was soft and tingling, never in her years had she spoken to anyone more then one word. Trembling from the thought of getting beaten she clenched her fists and walked towards the wagon stiff back and biting her lip, Pachi Lipepi was watching the mans movements curiously, almost wanting to play with him, but resisting the urge to pounce. With the smell of live fish stashed in the woven baskets that were always prepared for him distracting his urge he ignored the stranger and followed the girl.

It was strange, James still felt like it was only natural to be afraid of this beast, but with this girl here it was a completely different atmosphere. Was this why the Natives forced her to care take their deity? Because she had this effect on it? He thought back to watching that frail child getting struck so heavily and felt his head swim. Why would any one treat someone so vital to their way of life so absolutely inhumane? These people were all sick, it wouldn't be the first tiny isolated world with such none-sense he ever saw, but he always hoped every next one would be the last.
Turning his attention to the girl, he mustered his strength and focus and followed her, but as he did, the world rocked back and forth like a pendulum and soon it swirled and went black.

He dreamed of chili peppers with large mouths eating gorillas and salty sea dogs.

Wide eyed, but exhausted to her limit, she mustered the strength to open the basket for Pachi Lipepi. She had hoped the foreigner would be useful, but she guessed he was equally tired as she. Instead of letting Pachi Lipepi eat him, she went ahead and left him in the sand.
Continuing to grab her side from the pain of the recent beating she received she went ahead and grabbed one of the smaller fish from the basket; one she was sure Pachi Lipepi wouldn't mind sharing with her. Though it was small for Pachi Lipepi, it was just right to feed two mouths. Getting some sticks to poke threw it (sticks she kept hidden from the villagers, ones that she used often, when feeding Pachi Lipepi) She went to where the lava poured down from the Volcano and she placed the sticks in the sand close enough to start getting the fish to slow cook. She went back to the mans body and laid on her back watching the clouds overhead... And also falling asleep.

The sky was moving, rotating, the stars, the moon, bright colored stars, the phases of the moon, the sands of deserts he hadn't seen yet, shifting, disappearing into the stars. One great eye looked down from the heavens in this never ending world, a bright light beamed around it and words appeared again and again in different languages and hieroglyphs and finally, the only letters he could read, "Lex Talionis"
Both of his arms were slit open straight down to the tips of his fingers, he screamed out, the eye wept blood that streamed into each arm and then they sealed, his stomach was cut open, but there was nothing inside, James Leer stood there, abdomen gaping open like a pit. The distant deserts appeared in a transparent glass oil lamp and poured down inside of him, filling his emptiness. James fell to his knees, the cosmos spinning around him in bright lights and colors. Then before him stood one great pillar and at the top of it was a scale where the oil lamp sat on one side, and the great eye in the other but his stomach was not closed yet. Lastly, a beautiful ostrich plume drifted down from the pillar and landed on his frozen body, as it entered his stomach, the flesh sealed and the scale began to teeter, back and forth, and back and forth. It began to shift to the eye that wept blood into his open arms but then the feather left his chest and, as though it was falling in reverse, it landed atop the oil lamp and the scale quieted evenly.

During this time His body had no pulse on that beach, his skin was discoloring and organs were beginning to swell, rigor mortis was setting in his muscles because James Leer died of a concussion two hours ago, his eyes were staring blankly at the black clouded pink sky.

She had lost track of time waking up to the roasted fish smell it drew her in, her stomach growled to eat every last bite of it. She lifted her sore body and brushed the sand off her rags. She looked over to see if the man was awake... But he wasn't. No, she was familiar with this look, the look of the dead. Her stomach churned at the thought of her just moments ago sleeping next to one of the dead, surly a bad omen for her.
Pachi Lipepi had finished his meal hours ago, and was probably enjoying his freedom in the lagoon before her. Maybe she should have let him eat the man, maybe she would be beaten for not letting him eat the man. But worries dissipated as her stomach once more growled for the cooked fish.
She ignored the dead body, maybe when Pachi Lipepi came back she would clean this mess up by letting him eat the dead man, if any of the villagers were to see that their Deity rejected a human offerings, dangerous rumors would spread around the village. She didn't want to know what would happen.
She grabbed her roasted fish and walked away from the hot lava, she walked closer to the ocean and stuck the sticks into the wet sand to stand her cooked fish up and began to eat it.

James Leer didn't understand anything, the only clue he was given were the words "lex talionis" and he couldn't even remember what that meant. The heavens calmed now, only specific constellations were lighting up and this place was quiet. Still the scale stood, and did not waver and the great eye continued to watch him. What was supposed to happen now? He couldn't remember what language that phrase was in nor what it meant, but he couldn't help wondering if it was a key to what needed to happen now. The idea that he was dead occurred to him, the idea that he finally fell into his compositor occurred to him too. His compositor wasn't here, it wasn't on his waist as he noticed this, the scale above began to move. James understood suddenly; it was still judging him! Though he didn't know what side he needed to win over, at least there was some sort of a thought now. Maybe it was that blasted romantic fortune teller he snagged his compositor from, the whole creepy blood thing was her style. What ever happened to that dream about those weird peppers eating apes and dogs? That was a weird one... it was about that dragon wasn't it? The dragon, he thought, and that girl! What happened to them? How did he end up here, is this what a mythical beast like a dragon's belly looked like? Was he hallucinating while being digested in its bowels?

James Leer was long dead now, there were even beach flies going in and out of his mouth and nose and crawling in his ears. His hand was clasped tight around that little pouch of his, the type of tight only a dead man's grip can be.

She finished the fish, and decided to walk over to the man, poking him with her finger a couple times and then gazing into his glazed eyes she tried to close them as she would do to all the human sacrifices, but these eyes would not shut almost as if the man needed to see the world as a dead man. She then searched the mans pockets looking for anything of value she might be able to use down the road. She had a lot of collected belongings on this coast where Pachi Lipepi lived.
Finding nothing of value besides the clothes on his back she began unbuckling his belt seeing his dead man grip on the pouch that is attached to the belt she found it would be easier tying the belt around his hand and then grabbing his shirt and vest over his head around his elbows and yanking them off him completely.
She then stripped the potatoes sack she was wearing off leaving some of the rags around her bottom and top and then putting the mans shirt on, she wore it like a dress and instantly she felt warmer she did the same with the mans vest. Ripping her potatoes sack, to have straps she tied around her waist to keep the dress and vest from slipping off and looking too baggy, then strapping around her shoulders to keep closer to her body size. She then took the mans sandals off, and to her surprise they were strap sandals a special kind that can be easily adjusted to fit all sizes.
After finishing her new look, she decided to leave the dead body for Pachi Lipepi to clean up when he got back. She went to the fishing wagon and put the lid back on and started to pull it back to the fishermen's dock.

The last thing the scumbag remembered as he breathed in a throat-full of gnats and beach flies was a radiant and soothing voice ringing in the distance "so these things shall be." Everything felt like exactly how you think it would feel to be a pile of feces, motionless, mindless, lifeless. He couldn't think, he couldn't call out, he couldn't remember his name. His eyes weren't working, his mouth wouldn't move, all he could do was breath shallowly through his nose. But he was indeed breathing. Any expanding of his ribs was impossible and so James Leer came back to the land of living, reincarnated as an unconscious vegetable. Three thin scars now present on his bare chest and arms. The first feeling that came back to him was pain, that tingling, not quite painful, yet entirely unbearable feeling like when your leg falls asleep, his blood was finding its way through the mazes that was his body once more. His tendons would be the last thing to find normalcy. And so he lay there, returned to his own dreams, though now they were quiet and dark as his entire being was hard at work trying to reverse its death process now that its tenant returned (to nature's surprise!)

As she made her way to off load the wagon in the same place she picked it up from she noticed a figure on the dock...It was that Older fisherman who had sent her away from the dinning hut. She lowered her head and started to walk up the road towards the village when the man turned around and caught her in his eye "Ey!!" he called out for her attention. Oh boy was she going to get it now. Had she already forgotten the clothes she had just stolen.. How now she didn't look like the Village Taka. "(Where did you get those!?)" He yelled out to her almost at a run to grab her by the arm and drag her up to the elders. "Ahh" she cried thrashing her body and free arm to try and escape his massive size and strength as he dragged her along like cloth.
