Jocasta & Gate

Jocasta slid her claws out of the crevice she'd just stepped in. She and Gate were both horribly out of their element, but they needed to find who they were looking for. Jocasta shuddered--they were looking for a shady human who was in possession of some pets illegally. Most of the members of her large family seemed to be doing that recently, but this time it was serious. Recently discovered creatures were vanishing from their Zoo Pen and others, and had even been lost in the middle of exploration.

Gate suddenly dragged Jocasta to the left. Dancing on the tips of her claws around glowing fissures, she suddenly looked up to find them standing before a low, long building. It looked like the familiar buildings of home, but it was made of a reddish stone. The door was closed tightly.

Can you open it? asked Gate with a questioning look. Okay, he didn't really talk, but Jocasta could sometimes get the gist of other Glacials' thoughts, through feelings she got.

"I don't know," she replied in a low voice, and together they approached the building.

Jocasta wedged her claws into the crack between door and wall. With a soft, barely audible creak, it slid open. She gave a startled look to Gate, who simply blinked. She sighed, turned, and stepped into a small, brightly lit room. The door closed behind Gate as he followed her.

The two looked around. A greenish chair behind a reddish desk sat in one corner, and the rest of the room was empty. Almost. Next to a door in the back wall was a stack of papers.

"Can I help you?"

Jocasta jumped and spun back toward the desk. A tall human looked questioningly at them from the chair. "Are you looking for an unusual companion?" he asked.

Gate nodded in Jocasta's place, and the human grinned. "Come this way," he said, and opened the door. He gestured for them to enter, but the pair hesitated. They could distinctly hear rattling, like a cage. With a shrug, Jocasta led the way in.

Jocasta gasped. The hall was lined with cages. Four were full at the moment, with creatures she recognized. She could tell Gate recognized them too.

The one that shocked her most was Clasik Imojin Relokate, the Blossom Choopa. Clasik should have been able to outwit any human! She could tell her thoughts were written all over her face, because Clasik nodded and looked mournfully at a pile of white cloth near the cage door. Ah, so she'd been lured in, then.

Without thinking, Jocasta leapt into action, so fast she didn't know it was happening. One minute she was standing there, the next she was fiddling with her friend's cage.

The human pulled her off the wire and dragged her down the hall with surprising strength. Another human was pulling Gate by the leash behind her. Suddenly, she was being shved into a small, dirty cage. Gate's barking told her that he was in the same predicament.

Then the humans were gone.

Gate stared despairingly at Jocasta from across the hall. Can't you do something?

"I wish," she whispered in reply, wishing she didn't have to see her friend's desolate look. But instead, the Albie looked annoyed.

You could at least try, he thought reproachfully. He flicked his tail at the wall above her. Jocasta looked and saw a window almost at her eye level.

She stood on the very tips of her claws. "Help!" she yelled out the window.

Tyler

He had no idea where he was or what he was doing here.
he just knew two things: He wanted to kill that human who captured him, and for that, he had to get out. The slaughter Dalmar smashed into the bars of his
cage again, growling agressively. He didnt even feel the pain.
suddently, he recognised that one of the bars seemed a little rusty.
he grabbed the bar with his maw, and it really moved. He dragged it
away with all his might, and finally slipped out of his prison. /stupid humans...dont have usefull cages/ he thought. he stood there,
stock still, and waited for his heavy hearbeat to slow down. He noticed the other pets in their cages, also the two new ones. /none of your business/
he thought /when they where stupid enough to get captured, they have to make their way out alone too/ He started to walk down the hall.
Then He heard the desperate call of Jocasta, that made him stop and
look over to her cage. something inside of him wanted to help her.
very starnge, that really didnt happen often...but
at least she and her companion came here to help a friend...very noble.
further on she could help him with the humans. Tyler walked over to
Jocasta, staring at her with his black, cold murderer eyes.
"If you'll stop screaming and wake up the whole house..."
he growled in an low, emotionless voice "...I might be able to help you"

Jocasta turned slowly. She hadn't seen the Slaughter Dalma when they'd come in. "Well, I wasn't trying to wake anyone up," she snapped.

Hey! Gate looked at her reproachfully. You want to get out of here or not?

Jocasta sighed. "All right, so what's this plan of yours?" she asked, her voice as flat and emotionless as possible. Then she turned around at a loud rattling sound. Clasik's horn was wedged between two bent bars, slowly forcing them apart. They silently folded, leaving a round space in the cage. Clasik switched to her human form and pulled herself through the opening.

"Now that's over with, shall we get out of this dump?" she asked pleasantly.

He cocked one eyebrow at the response of hers,
"Well first I suggest to get you out of the cage, wich is not that hard" he stated, a slightly mocking tone in his voice. "then we have to get out
of the hall, wich is much harder. I can tell by the clicking before that the
door is locked..." wow, that was much more talking than he usually did in
one piece. he then grabbed the bar of her cage, trying to bend it open
too. this one was a lot more stable, and he was interupted by Clasik.
he turned arround rapidly, very confused by her transformation to her human form. He calmed himself down, and stared at her angrily.
"and who the hell are you?" he growled.

Not waiting for a respond, he turned arround again and scanned the hall.
He suddently spotted a little window that was not barred. //stupid humans...//
he made his wai to the window, jumped up and pulled himself out.
ashes blew into his face as he stalked out into the volcanic environment.
The window was big enough for the others to get out, and besides, they did not
really interest him either...
