Honeystripe

Leaping from the bush, Honeystripe stared up at the large volcano. Sighing she plopped down on the ground, "You wanna climb all the way up that volcano, cross over it some how and get to the other side?" She said going through the list mentaly. "Ok, well maybe we can rest for today. Besides my paws are aching..." Licking her worn out pads, she glanced up at Mars. They had been traveling for a while now, from Barraka to Lambista...Getting back up on her paws Honeystripe said again, "What do you want to do?" She asked.

Mars

Mars jumped out of the bush right behind Honeystripe. His paws were aching also. He wasn't sure if he could make it to the other side today. "Maybe we should rest for the day," he suggested. "My paws are on fire." He sat down and licked his feet. He then stared at the volcano too. It looked to big. He colasped onto his stomach and stretched out. "I need to rest my eyes, I can't hold them open much longer..." he said, closing his eyes. It was beginning to get dark anyway. He pulled his feet up under him and rest his head on his paws. He lifted his head and looked at Honeystripe."Are you ready to rest for the night?"

Nodding she layed down. The darkness was swallowing them up...

The next morning, a bird called in the distance. Startling Honeystripe she woke up with a start. Shaking a scrap of leaf off her head she licked her side momentarily. Streaching she got slowly to her paws. Feeling shaky she quickly sat down again. Looking over at Mars he was sturring slightly.

Mars opened his eyes and stood up. He stretched his body and then each leg individually. He was no longer tired after resting. He sat down beside Honeystripe. "Sleep good?" he asked her, whiping the sleep from his eyes, even though he can't sleep, his eyes still got that way when he rested.

Laughing Honeystripe said, "Ya! I got a ton of sleep." Sighing she got to her paws and looked up at the smouldering hot Volcano. Her good mood dying away like a small fire being swept up by sand, she said, "Geez this is one big volcano..." Thinking she remebered somthing important, "Oh, Mars! I just remebered...Do you remeber that tall guy who followed us when we went onto the boat that went from Barraka to Lambista? And how he kept staring at us," She shivered, "I think that might have been one of Moon's henchmen..." She thought aloud. Shaking her head she licked her chest fur rapidly.

"Oh, how wonderful," Mars said sarcastically. "Those guys are everywhere!" he added. His good mood was quickly queched at the bad news. "I suppose we have to get moving then," he said. He looked up at the volcano. "Around or over?" he asked.

Sighing she said, "I think the quickest way is over but if you want to go around, I mean..." She shuffled her paws to and fro. "What do you want to do," She asked. Looking up at the Volcano again she sighed and waited for Mars to anwser.

"It might be longer," Mars began to say, "but lets go around. I don't want to, well, slip and fall into the volcano." Mars was sometimes very clumsy, not to mention he was afraid of heights. He looked to the left of the volcano. That path seemed clear enough. He stood up, ready to get started on the long journey around.

Honeystripe nodded and started walking. The dirt beneath her pads was sharp becasue of all the ash around the volcano. Sighing she wished there was grass here. She kept walking. Suddenly the ground shook. Gasping, Honeystripe looked up at the volcano. The smoke was coming out in truck loads! She looked wildly around for Mars. "Mars!" She yelled through the loud rumbleing of the volcano.

Mars came to Honeystripe's side. Where do you seek shelter from an erupting volcano? He wasn't sure. "Where should we go?" he asked, looking around wildly for shelter of some kind.

Honeystripe looked around. Spotting a rock she began to dig. "Come on! If we can dig deep enough," She said in gasping breaths, "we can get shelter." Scraping with her claws she kept digging. Scraping somthing hard she yowled in pain. A small wooden door about the size of a Fellox, came into veiw. Glancing up she saw the lava begin to trickle out. She and Mars unearthed the door, and climbed in. Gasping she pushed a large rock into the spot where the door was. "There..." She said.

"Good idea," Mars panted from the effort of pulling the door up. "Just one question though," he began, "How do we get out?" He looked around. At least they were safe, for now.

Honeystripes face fell, "Umm...never really thought of that..." Sighing she thought for a while. "Oh I wonder if I could find my cell phone and call for help!" Honeystripe blushed, "Right, I dropped it while we were battling Savagedrip and Swiftkiller in the streets of Jawan." She hissed at herself.

"Don't worry, I'm sure we can dig back up," Mars said. "After a while, though. I don't know how long a volcanic eruption can last." He sighed too. He didn't want to be stuck in here for days. "Let's hope it dooesn't last long."

"Ya..." She shrugged, "So what do you want to do when we get out?" She heard a crack of a twig from somewhere. Looking around she thought it was her imagination. But then again she didn't know how far back this hole went! Sniffing the air, she concintrated on somthing that smelled familiar...
