Strolling easily through the low drifting fog, Bazira's mood was strangely calm on this day.  Perhaps it was because she felt at peace here, where not many dared to come.  It was a secretive place.  And that she liked.  

So why had she come here of all places?  Well, why not?  It wasn't like she had a social life to tend to afterall.  It was a bit sad, but not having to deal with others was preferred.  She had enough of her own problems, she didn't need to hear about others.  

A dispatched sound rang out in the fog, causing her to freeze and ears to stand in alert.  Again.  She scanned the surroundings with a skittish motion.  The fog was disorienting and she couldn't pinpoint the sound.  That made her nervous.  Even though she preferred her own company, she still managed to pick up on news and rumors and one that she'd caught was about how many came here and vanished.  Never to be seen again.  Now, she was no wimp, but she certainly wasn't a fool!  She didn't want to die out here by some mysterious means.  The way she saw it, there was a beast to blame for the disappearances.  Though what that said creature was, she hadn't a clue...

As even more fur-raising sounds errupted from the stagnant fog, Bazira crouched low and kept deathly still, eyes jerking from one side to the other.  She was quickly rethinking her choice in coming here.  Never once did she think she'd actually run into the the creature she'd imagined to be the culprit!  Her fur was standing on end and she'd instinctively bared her teeth as she waited anxiously for something to happen...

Suddenly, a very loud, rough growl was heard ... accompanied by a very chilling pair of blood red eyes  glowing brightly through the fog, peering eeriely at the small Lykuhna.  Bazira's eyes widened with fear as her eyes locked onto those that shone throught the wall of fog.  Before she realized she was doing it, she let out her own threatening growl, though it did little to deter the beast.  With a desire for bloodlust driving the beast, it approached the still Lykuhna, revealing it's identity to the female.

Bazira's body jerked as she soon realized just what it was that she was dealing with.  A rather lanky Kirund was the culprit, it seemed.  Well, for all that Bazira knew it was.  Maybe it was ... or maybe it wasn't...  Regardless, she didn't like the odds.  Kirund were known for their apparent, unquenchable thirst for blood after all...  A fact that was not forgotten on the Lykuhna.  She slowly crept backwards, still positioned low to the ground in a defensive manner.  The Kirund's eyes trailed after her without blinking.  

Another growl from the beast made the Lykuhna jerk once more and quickly counter with a hiss.  It took a step forward.  She took a step back.  Another step forward and it let it's mouth fall open, revealing a mouth full of sharp, glistening teeth.  This ... was not looking good for the lone Bazira...

"You ... You better stay BACK!", the frightened Lykuhna spat at the coming Kirund.  She wasn't going to turn tail and run so easily, no.  Sure the Kirund was much, much larger than she and had some the obvious advantages like feeling no pain, but Lykuhna could be fierce in their own right!  The curse (but in this case, possibly a hidden blessing!) of being a Werewolf.  But ... there was a problem with that ...  Bazira hadn't managed to master such a power and was unable to trigger a change willingly.  In fact, she hadn't had a transformation for many a moon.  One thing was for sure though ... If there was ever time she needed one, it would be now!

Pretty much ignoring the threat spat at him by the Lykuhna, the Kirund licked his lips and twisted his maw into what could be classified as a devilish smile.  Opening his mouth, a raspy chuckled came out instead of words.  "Fuh ... Funny ... Ha.", it said with a certain choppiness in his speech.  Beast, the fitting name that had seemed to stick with the Kirund, raised his head as he stared down at Bazira.  

Unbeknown to her, Beast didn't have much skill in speaking.  He understood words more or less, but he just couldn't properly articulate them well.  Yes it was horrible, but he had come a considerably long way from being completely ignorant of all words.  Back when he was completely feral all he could do was bark and slobber like a rabid mutt.  Besides, it wasn't like he carried out leisurely conversations too often.  Not many bothered to stick around long enough to talk ... and if they did, they were soon used for other purposes than just friendly company....

Bazira raised a brow at Beast's words.  It didn't sound like he'd been talking long as she was barely able to make out what he had said.  'So it can talk, huh?  Maybe it has some kind of sense then ... Perhaps I can talk my way out of this...', she thought, eyeing the Kirund suspiciously.

"Wait!  You don't want to eat me!", she shouted confidently as she straightened up, "Do you know what I am?"  The sudden bold outburst caught Beast's attention and his mouth snapped shut and he paused.  His eyes bore into the Lykuhna with confusion.  Not many chose to face him as Bazira did, especially those that were substantially smaller than he.  His face wrinkled into a scowl at her question.  He couldn't answer her, merely growl in displeasure.  No, he didn't know what she was, and he didn't much care.  Food was food.  Being a picky Kirund was not a possibility.  You took what you could.

Bazira couldn't make heads or tails out of Beast's scowl.  Did he not want to answer her?  Could he not answer?  Or did he just not care?  Oi ... there went talking her way out of it.  For all she knew, she could have mistooken his growling for words when they weren't.  Heck, he could be a dumb, feral beast!  Well, maybe that meant he could be easily out witted...

She went on to bide time.  "Well, I'm a Lykuhna."  She flicked her tails up confidently and took a cautious step as if to move around the Kirund.  Beast eyed her blankly as she spoke, not even noticing that she was intending to get around him.  He had never heard of such a thing.  Then again, he hadn't heard of many things.  He didn't even know the place's name that they were in now!  Blame it on that horrible lab that he had been locked up in all those years.  

"Sll ... Ly - ly ... krahhh...", he slurred, trying to repeat what she said.  It sounded right in his head, but probably not so much to Bazira.  His lips curled and a growl escaped his throat as he took a step closer to the Lykuhna.  That nagging hunger pain was growing stronger the more he waited.

Bazira's ears flicked backwards for a moment as the Kirund let out a rough growl.  She suspected it probably wouldn't be long before he attacked now.  She could only stall for so long!  Her eyes flickered from the Kirund to the object behind him.  A very large tree that shot high up into the foggy atmosphere.  Perfect.  A sly smile crept to her face.  Felines could climb easily enough, even though she could be classified as part canine as well (the werewolf curse), and she was certain she could reach it with ease.  Then she would be safe out of the Kirund's reach.  Well, so she thought.  A Kirund couldn't climb a tree ... could it?  Surely not...

It was a risk Bazira was willing to take - she had to!  She knew it would be nearly impossible to out run the beast, as it had a larger gait than her.  And it was impossible to fight it.  A Lykuhna of her size could not deal a death blow to the zombie-fied dog.  

With carefully placed steps, she was inching around the dog beast and closer towards the tree, bettering her chances of escape.  It appeared that Beast was none the wiser.  He was keeping track of her movements well enough, but he hadn't a clue of what she was intending to do.  Regardless, he took another jerky step towards the Lykuhna, snarling as he did so.

Suddenly, Bazira took off in a mad dash for the tree, halfway disappearing in the stagnant fog surrounding them.  Beast blink, stunned by the sudden movement, then fell into pursuit after her, snarling visciously.

With all her speed, Bazira dashed towards the tree, then jumped for the trunk.  Success!  Her claws latched onto the mossy bark of the tree and she scaled the trunk with the grace of a feline.  Not a moment too soon, either, as Beast lunged for her and snapped at her tails.  But all he got was a few hairs and dirty bark.  He spat frantically to get the taste out then jumped on the trunk and let out a ferocious bark upwards at the Lykuhna.

Settled quite comfortably on a large branch well above the Kirund, Bazira sat panting with a mocking smile.  "Ha!  Dumb slobberin' beast!", she spat with a laugh, "Can't climb, can ya?  Ha!  No lunch for you today.~"  Beast growled, drool dripping from his jowls as he circled the tree base.  Rah!  How could he have been so careless?  He jumped up the trunk, only to slide back down with a huff of frustration.  It was a straight vertical climb, and his body wasn't made for scaling.  What luck...  The hunger pains were now stronger than ever, his stomach growling quite loudly.

"Rah .... e-eattt!", he slurred angrily as he glared up at the female.  One way or the other, he was going to get her...

But Bazira had other plans.  Safely out of the rabid Kirund's reach, she took a moment to scan the land.  It wasn't as easy as she would of liked, that blasted fog obstructing her view and all.  To any taller creatures, it might not have been much of a hassle as it stayed mostly low on the ground, but to a Kuhna it was a bother.  She cursed her luck and began to grit her teeth.  She needed an escape route.  She came, she saw, and she had had enough.  No sense in staying in a place that wanted to kill you, right?  But that was easier said than done.

Beast lunged up the trunk again, his sharp claws dragging down broken bark as he fell.  His presence wasn't easily forgotten, and he made sure of that.  Another frightening growl came from his throat as he slowly circled the tree in search of a way up it.  Bazira glared at him from above and hissed loudly.  
"Just go away already!", she growled at him, "I ain't comin' down and you ain't getting up here, so just give up!"  She flicked her tails aggravatedly.

Of course though, Beast wasn't one to listen to prey.  If he did then he'd never get to eat!  After all, how often did you come across a creature just begging to be eatten?  Not often in Beast's case, anyways.

He continued to stalk slowly around the tree.  He could wait here forever for her to come down.  He was dead.  The basic neccesities that most lifeforms needed to live were lost on him, except for maybe feeding on fresh blood.  But it was just a yearning, really, not a neccesity for Beast.  Or so it had been so far.  He had had no troubles going days even weeks without a meal.  That's usually how long it took to find more food in this place.  Since coming here, food had been few and far inbetween, much to his displeasure.  So when he caught sight of something, he stuck with it with all he had.  No more free meals.  He had often thought of moving on to new hunting grounds but this place rarely saw humans, which was a plus.  Humans were evil, and would only lock you up to rot forever.

"Dah-Don ... tah ... rahla hrrr ..."  More slurring.  Goodness, Bazira probably thought this guy was brain dead or something.  He was trying to tell her don't count on it, but that message was almost certainly lost in his growling.  Bazira raise a brow curiously at the poor speech but didn't try to decipher it.  Well, it seemed she'd be here a while, judging from the Kirund's persistance.  She rolled her eyes and sighed.

Standing, she struted down the branch and back, teasing him, and laughing when he jumped only to fall back down hard.  She'd hatched a bit of a plan... using the trees as her way out...  Wonder how far away civilization was?

Giving the beast below a last look, Bazira walked down the length of the branch and locked her eyes onto another nearby branch.  It was within reach.  Good.  She smiled confidently and crouched, preparing to jump.  Flicking her tails as she rolled her shoulders, Bazira went for a far leap over onto the opposing branch.

Beast growled and jumped up towards her as she did.  Missed!  He stumbled back down to earth and let out a loud frustrated growl as Bazira landed flawlessly onto the other branch.  Curses, this meal was smart!  She'd figured out how to escape safely, it seemed.  Bazira chuckled at his futile attempts and scaled up the tree further to another, more sturdy branch.  At this rate, she saw herself getting out of here in no time.  Just what she wanted.

The Kirund had an idea as to where this was going... and he didn't like it.  He didn't really have anything to lose,being an invincible zombie dog and all, so he'd do whatever he could to capture this prey.  In a desperate attempt at success, Beast lunged at the base of the tree and sunk his canines in hard.  Growling and slobbering, he jerked and pulled and tugged and ripped at the wood.  For a creature that was in constant state of rotting, his teeth were surprisingly sturdy.  He got a mouth full of bark and wood chips, but he didn't care.  Ignoring the horrid taste in his mouth, he continued to tear away at the base.

Bazira's attention was drawn to the Kirund as it began to emanate odd noises.  She snickered when she saw what it was doing.  "Ha, what a fool.", she purred, confident he would get no where and fast.  "You aren't the sharpest crayon in the box, are ya?  You can't down a tree with your teeth alone!", she laughed harshly.

Ignoring the insults the Lykuhna was spitting at him, he kept on strong.  The chosen spot on the trunk was now bare, and had deep gashes running along it.  He switched from using teeth to his horns.  Ramming and slashing away at the tough wood only made Bazira chuckle further.  Somewhat amused by this spectacle, she shifted around comfortably and slumped down on her branch.  Her bright golden eyes watching him curiously with a sly smile plastered on her maw.

Her attention soon shifted to the left as an unfamiliar sound reached her ears.  It wasn't the bafoon below, she'd heard him long enough to distinguish his sounds.  Head snapping over with ears erect, she stared curiously into the low fog to where the sound had eminated.  Though, she wasn't worried.  After all, she was a good ways up off the ground.  She was confident that she was safe from whatever else might come along.  She had outsmarted the beast below, right?  Speaking of which, was still going to town on the tree trunk.
