Hail peered out from the log, smiling. She was playing hide-and-seek with her friend, Sleet. She had been hiding in their for about ten minutes, and was still winning. Well, at least I don't have a voice to give me away, she laughed pointedly in her head. Hail was indeed, dumb. Yes, dumb. Oh, not stupid of course. She couldn't speak. In fact, she was very intellegent, being born in a human lab. She picked up on what they learned and their language. She was the best at spelling and could write with ease. Very smart, indeed.

Anyway, back to the story. Hail poked her head back in the hole. It might be awhile, she sighed and settled down, only to freeze at the sound of a laugh. She felt her neck hair bristle as her eyes widened and she turned around. A small kuhna's eyes glinted at her in the darkness.

"Boo."

Not Kuhna eyes. Bear eyes. Sleet poked her head into the log, spotting Hail easily since her coat was lightly colored.

"Boo," she said, trying not to giggle. She could barely hold in her laughter as Hail's eyes became as wide as saucers.

Sleet stepped into the light and squealed as Hail batted her with a light paw.

"Hey!" she squeaked.

Hail stopped batting as the thing squealed. A bear. . .? Sleet!!!! she sighed in relief. She gestured her tail and bowed her head to say she was sorry. Hail lifted her head and smiled. My turn? she wiggled her tail. It wouldn't be too hard to find her since Hail's senses had been altered and were superhuman compared to the norm, since life in the lab wasn't normal. She shook her head of the thoughts and turned around. She batted her tail for each second she counted. 10, 9, 8. . . she got down to after she had heard Sleet run off somewhere. Ready, she thought as she stomped her feet so Sleet knew she was coming.

Sleet hadn't stopped running after she heard Hail stomp her feet. She panted as she rounded a tree and dove into a clear pond. She had been here a million times and knoew there was a cavern down there that led to behind the tree Hail had counted at.

Sleet grinned as she passed under the roof of the cavern and dove deeper through the pathway. Right, Straight, Left, Up. . . she recited as she sped down the cavernway. She barely dodged a giant rock as she made the sharp left. Aaanndd. . .

"UP!" Sleet yelled as she paddled up the exit and gasped when she hit the surface.

Hail heard Sleet gasp as she broke the surface. I'll let her go for now. Hail ran around a huge log then rounded into a circular path. I should probably just make a big circle then get her. Hail began to curve her runand soon she was circling around to where Sleet was hiding.

Sleet shivered in her tree hole, making the bark crack and creak around her. Be quiet! She hissed at herself as she tensed her muscles and froze. All of a sudden, a branch creaked, and Sleet whimpered slightly. What was that?!

Out of nowhere, the head of a Blood Hollowheart peaked into the hole. "Hi there!" It grinned with a friendly, happy atmosphere. Female. Definitely female.

Sleet. was frozen with fear. Couldn't think, breathe or blink. After a minute, Sleet took a deep breath. . . And screamed. "Don't eat meee!" she wailed.
