When Portals Collide

The forest was eerie at night, when the mist looked almost black or ghostly grey depending on where you were and the lighting. The whole forest was quiet, settled for a long night in the wee hours of morning when the dew was barely fresh on grass blades and there was only the wind passing between the trees and over the grass. Well it was almost the only thing, somewhere in the inky and damp tentacles of mist were dancing trying to wrap around the mighty and ancient trees of the forest a physical body stirred. A man with white perky ears and a fox like tail paced back and forth near a mostly hidden lake, constantly displacing the swarms of mist. Every so often those ears would flick back and lay against his skull with an irritated look crossing his face in the same instant, then he would swirl in the mist and begin back the other way. "She honestly thought it would be here?! Where?! I don't see a thing..." He growled into the mist as he sat down for probably around the eighth time on that same rotting log, his legs crossed and his molten eyes narrowing at the mist. He continued to glare at it as though he could disperse the mist with such a heated look, instead the golden bell started to chime softly in the dark. "Eh, shut up. No one cares if I'm unhappy, no one is here to see it." He snarled, hell of a curse, a talking bell.

Te was sure this was all for nothing, but Yasu had felt like someone was about to become lost in this world. Most of the residence entered the Nexus, not here; the batty Djinn must have gotten a leaf in her tea again or something, he was going to talk to the young kuhna who delivered it about that when he got back. His ears laid back once more annoyed by the thought of having to travel clear back to the gate again when he should have been comfortable in the manor's living area with a glass of wine and a fireplace. Begrudgingly he came to his feet once more, determined to leave and give the batty woman a piece of his mind when he returned. The bell chimed once more, louder than before and the leather strap which held it to his throat tightened around his neck. At first cutting off his air, which only served to further anger the already miserable Fellox as he stopped moving. "Fine", he thought to himself taking a breath to seem calmer, "I'll sit here until I rot." . He swung back into the hole he was pacing in the forest floor with new determination to make the gods angry as he was.

Roughly a good ten to twelve miles from the unhappy ready to rot Fellox a young man lay motionless on the forest floor, he'd been there for almost two hours drifting between the world around him and his final link to the world he'd known. He could still hear the voices of those he'd been traveling with, they'd beaten the sorceress who had wreaked havoc on their world and time lines for her own power. He could faintly still hear them talking, calling his name into the darkness. He felt like he was getting further and further away, like everything was shifting only for him. Then he heard the one voice he'd so desperately listened for, the one that meant the most to him call out his name in panic and sorrow. The pain he heard in the other's voice made his heart quake with sorrow, "I'm here, look you idiot! Look!" He yelled, but the images were already getting blurry for him. "No, wait." He called out, but he was suddenly alone in the darkness. "No...wait..." He could distantly hear his own voice, soft and worn call out. "No..." With that his eyes snapped forcefully open; the world around him was dark, and mostly out of focus but cold. That really was the first thing he noticed other than the haze around him, the cold; it was biting and offered no comfort like it once had. He couldn't hear any voice, around him or in his head. "Shiva..." He called mentally, but all he heard was silence. It was terrifying, where was he? Slowly Squall moved, his whole body ached, like nothing he'd ever felt in his whole life.

This couldn't be real, was he dreaming? No, this was too real. Once able to pull his body up into a sitting position, the haze in his vision hadn't left; instead he realized it was fog he was seeing once his eyes focused. The forest itself looked oddly familiar, and for a moment he thought the cold felt familiar. Strange as that would have sounded to anyone listening it was true for him. He was barely oriented with the world around him when he noticed something else, Griever was on the ground beside him looking amazingly unscratched considering how he felt at the moment. Thankful to at least be armed in this moment, Squall made the effort to stand. The struggle for footing in the soft earth beneath his feet, and with the help of Griever he found it finally. Once up, Squall was sure he knew where he was, or at least thought he knew where he was. Relief flooded his mind as he started walking in what he believed was northwest, he could get home, this was just a simple mix up.

Bottles smashed, I raised my hand
How can you all even stand?
And why is there joy in this poison? Oh
Faking smiles and confidence
Driving miles to capture this excitement
I can't take anymore

You're never gonna get it
I'm a hazard to myself
I'll break it to you easy
This is hell, this is hell
You're looking and whispering
You think I'm someone else
This is hell, yes
I am in hell

Somewhere after an hour longer of pacing, Te was not only sure the Djinn was off her nut but he feared if he didn't find this creature soon he would have to pay a visit to that creepy mage of Nocturna's. Shivering as he recalled the last not so distant meeting with the strange woman, and the price of his information; the fellox shivered and paled some. That was not going to happen again, he realized he was in no place to say such a things with another glance around the dark and misty forest which he stood in, pacing if being there wasn't enough. How he wished to return to the manor and open a fine bottle of red wine, an elderberry wine if he so chose. Te breathed a heavy sigh into the forest around him, but the trees it seemed would continue to ignore him without any Dryad's to communicate his needs. Grumbling about fae that only inhabited trees and ungrateful beings, Te gave the nearest large Rowan a swift kick before moving away from the rut he'd created. If the creature he was looking for wouldn't show up willingly, then he'd just have to go find it and drag it back to the manor to shut up the crazy woman he worked for.

His sleek body part the mist in swirls as he passed through one section of the forest, determined to figure out where this thing or person was. He would not, would never again, pay a visit to that hags home. At any other time, if he were simply here for matters of pleasure or for something as simple as a walk away from the manor; Te had to admit he would have stopped to take in the beauty of such a place. At the moment he couldn't do such a thing, no he had to keep focused on the one task at hand. With the grace of a dancer Te hopped from rock to tree branch in one leap, to gain a better view. Unfortunately all he found was from above the mist seemed denser and began to move on a soft breeze he couldn't feel. If he were any other creature the mist might have been able to play tricks on him, he might have believed he was seeing shapes move around him. Te however was no simple creature, and thus the powers of such a place had no effect on him; but would his new charge be so lucky? Disgusted Te dropped back into the swirling folds of night mist, he had somewhere around five hours until dawn, somewhere between now and then he really needed to find this person/thing.

He could never have known he was headed further into the heart of the forest, and thus in a west direction. Wandering for quiet some time, Squall found himself still weak from the portal-time-moving thing, which wasn't good. He didn't have any of his magic, and he couldn't even hear any of the GF's in his head anymore. It wouldn't be that big of a deal except that he kept seeing movement at the edge of his vision, something was there in the mist with him. A monster, maybe; something he probably didn't want to encounter, oh yea. Swinging his gunblade up, Squall glanced around at the forest with weary eyes, squinting into the shadows. He was sure even if he didn't feel anything that something was out there, watching him. Turning around Squall was amazed when he tripped over a small reptile creature, going straight down to his knees in an effort to at least slightly save face.

Angelo, for most things was Ankita's go to creature. He was after all her bleeder, and a loyal one at that. Being tripped over like a common rock however was not one of the things in the job description,  but here he was with someone three times his size having gone straight over the top of him. The bleeder couldn't help himself, he hissed venomously at the man who was sitting on his knees. This was going to be one of those nights after all wasn't it? "Get up, Verita. Sshe ssummonsss you." Angelo hiss again, glaring at the man through his purplish hazed eyes. In these days he rarely bothered to wipe away the blood from his eyes, dream mercury it actually was. Turning around, Angelo motioned for the man to follow him, as he slowly made his way back to her den.

Squall was amazed at the little reptile with the silvery purple liquid running from it's eyes, that was one of the weirder things he'd now seen. Not something he could ever recall having seen before that moment, and he gawked rather than listening to it. This couldn't be his home, nothing like that had ever been a part of HIS home. That meant he wasn't going home either, there was no mistake...how could this have happened. He was wracking his brain for what could have gone so wrong, "Where are we?" He asked the reptile in front of him.

For everything Angelo could have thought of this man he did have to follow what the mistress told him, "We are going to Missstresss' den, ssshe sssent for you." He hissed softly watching the man slowly get to his feet and follow behind him. "The ssshadowsss are harmlessss." He once more moved forward, shaking his head as he thought about retrieving that all too vocal fellox from the forest.
