-: Hunting and Exploring :- (SpringsSong and I)

Two small dots could be seen high in the sky, it looked like two birds from the ground, but once one got high into the trees they could see that they two figures were in fact two paragon. The largest one was a mixture of dark colors while the other smaller one was light bright colors. It was obvious the two were female from their size however to the untrained eye the darker one could have been mistaken for an adolescent male. Flying above the mist cloaked forest was not the first thing Dragi had wanted to do today. Looking down she scanned the forest for any sight of prey. She had fought against going here to hunt but after two hours of being berated by the paragon who accompanied her Dragi had given in. now the two would go home hungry and tired because they spent the whole day flying around a place that was known for its hidden inhabitants. Glancing over at the smaller paragon next to her she let out an exasperated sigh. “You have the better sight is there anything down there?” Dragi growled her displeasure showing in her words.

Amina took a moment to look over at her companion, preferring to look at the thing she was talking to. “Only flickers.” The paragon sighed, knowing that Dragi would never let her hear the end of their failed hunting trip. Amina hadn’t exactly had hunting plans in mind when she had suggested the whisper forest. She was curious to see new things and she hadn’t ever seen the forest before. So far it was not as exciting as she had hoped; she couldn’t see anything but shadows under the mist and what she did see didn’t look like anything they could eat. “Maybe if we get closer.” The pale yellow paragon suggested quietly, knowing it would be shot down immediately. “You know we can’t. What if there is another paragon down there hmm? We would be toast.” Dragi rumbled glaring down at the forest so her companion couldn’t see how uneasy she really was. “Well, we haven’t had any problems before.” Amina shot back. “That’s because we have had our masters with us, and they can use magic.” Dragi wished Amina could see the truth in her words instead of being so dead set on having a conversation with a potentially hostile paragon. “Well, you can suit yourself and be boring up here,” Amina countered flinching slightly at the thought of the thrashing she would get from doing this once they got home. “But I’m going down a few hundred feet and you can’t stop me.” Before Dragi had time to react the yellow paragon was dropping out of the sky, only bringing her feathers back out at the last second. “You are going to get us in so much trouble.” Dragi mumbled, dropping down to the same level as Amina. Dragi may not agree with the paragon but she wasn’t about to let another creature get its hands on her.

Carornis (b61206) -- Maleic (246b0b)

"Do you really think that this is necessary?"

The question was posed by a rather brightly-colored Primal Paragon, whose tail was dragging through the brush underfoot.  The blades from his tail caught on almost every piece of foliage there was to catch on, which was slightly irritating for him.  The additional fact that his brother could fly and he could not was also aggravating.

"Well, both Father and Grandfather suggested it, so it must be of utmost importance that this be handled.  Mother is the only sentinel of the Root in Whisper right now, and she can only do so much on her own, Carornis," replied another, more earth-toned, Primal.

"Yes, Maleic; I'm aware of this, but couldn't she have sent Ecaira out instead?  You both have wings..." Carornis said, growling slightly.  However, at this moment, Maleic huffed slightly and looked around, his eyes intent.

"Not so loud!  I think there's someone nearby..." he said, and Carornis sighed loudly as he, too, crouched and looked around.
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

Do you see that?” Amina asked stopping midflight, her blue wings pumping in a smooth rhythm that kept her steady in one spot. “No, what are you talking about.” Dragi said annoyed her eyes scanning the forest but all she could see was the grey-white mist that covered it and the deep greens of the trees below that. “I could have sworn I saw something red in there.” Amina explained, pointing her claw to the now white space. It was pretty big and Amina couldn’t really tell what it was or where it could have gone off to. “What did it look like?” Dragi asked, looking in the direction Amina had pointed. “Like a big red blob!” Amina roared. “I don’t know it could have been anything.” She shot a glare at Dragi.

Her sight may have been better than most but that didn’t mean she could see everything though sometimes it felt like Dragi expected her to. “Well, maybe we should get closer.” Dragi suggested. Amina tilted her head in confusion. “You sure?” she asked unable to hide the tremble of excitement in her voice. “We’ve already gotten this close. How much worse could it get?” Dragi said folding her wings in so that she could lose some altitude. A large grin spread across Amina’s face for a second before she dived down to join Dragi. Now they were only a few feet above the tree tops, and it was still very hard to see through the fog, but if the red thing came by again Amina would be able to spot it.

"Will you stop acting so paranoid?  It was probably just a Magistrey or some other bird flying through the area, Maleic," Carornis said after a few moments.  "It's gone now.  See?  Nothing to be seen through here but trees and mist and more trees."

"And you are clearly not cut out to be a sentinel with that brand of thinking, Carornis.  You have to look for even the tiniest thing out of place.  That's how Mother found Raloi when she was on patrol with Aerarnis, or so she says," Maleic said, spreading his wings slightly.  Again, the red Primal sighed.

"Well, I can't exactly get a better look without trying to clamber up a tree, and I think we know how well that won't work out," Carornis said, sighing in frustration.  "Maybe you should use those wings of yours to fly up past the mist and see if you see anything up there?"

"Father would be upset if he knew you were scorning what you inherited from him, you know," Maleic said, pushing off of the ground as gently as he could to see if there was anything above the mists.  He reflected, though, that he could be reprimanded for the decision later, as he was risking exposing himself to potential threats.

The two girls stopped short; just ahead they could see another paragon come out of the trees. “crap.” Dragi growled glancing over to make sure Amina was behind her. The male was much larger than the two of them, but Dragi hoped that he wouldn’t be hostile towards them. If he was she knew that they would most likely be dust, even if they used their fire against him he was much larger and probably had more training. “Do you think he sees us?” Amina asked, the feathers on her head smoothing down as she tried to make herself appear less intimidating. “Well, if he can’t see us he can hear us.” Dragi snapped. “Do you think we have enough time to lose him? Maybe we can drop into the forest.” Amina was starting to sound panicked. They had both been taught to stay away from other paragon and feared them greatly.

We don’t know if he has more of his kind down there. He could be part of a clan or something.” Dragi hissed trying not to speak to loudly. “We were part of a clan once, maybe he’ll know them.” Amina said trying to find some sort of way out but they were to near him to get away safely. “We were never part of a clan, they gave us up.” Dragi said not taking her eyes off of the paragon who still seemed to be scanning the area, but it wouldn’t be long before he would see them. “Well, maybe he’s friendly then.” Amina argued knowing all too well that if this turned out badly she would be the one to blame. “Don’t you dare call him over here.” Dragi hissed, hoping to prolong the situation as long as possible, but with no real way to escape the paragon if he attacked she was running out of ideas.

"Well?  Do you see anything?" Carornis called up to his earth-colored brother.  "I can only imagine what would happen if we told the ones who have been living here that you flew above the mists today..."

"Shut it, Carornis; I'm still looking around!" Maleic said, surveying the area carefully.  When his eyes landed on the forms of the other two Paragon, he dropped slightly.

"Maleic!  What is it?" Carornis asked, rearing up against the nearest tree to look up at his brother.  "I've never seen you drop out of the sky like that before.  Are you hurt?  Do I need to go get Aunt Holly?"

"No--I think there's two other Paragon flying around!" Maleic said, his voice between concerned and excited.  "I just... I don't know how to respond to them.  They don't look hostile, but looks can be deceiving..."

"See?  They should have sent Ecaira with you, so that there would be two fliers instead of one.  What do they look like?" Carornis asked.  At this, Maleic slowly rose above the mist again, trying to get a better look at the two Paragon.

Dragi just hovered there as the earth colored paragon turned to face them. It didn’t take long before another voice could be heard from the mist. Dragi’s eyes shot down to see the red blob came out to form another paragon, one that didn’t look to have the ability to fly. “I think he sees us.” Amina piped up from behind her, “yes I gathered.” Dragi hissed back. “But he doesn’t look to be heading towards us.” Dragi tried not to let her voice show how scared she was. “There is another with him though maybe they are looking to take us both on.” Amina speculated, eyeing the red paragon on the ground trying to figure out how he would reach the two girls.

Amina was surprised to see the paragon drop out of the air she hadn’t expected a retreat. Now it sounded like he was talking with his companion but she couldn’t tell what it was about. She could only assume they would be talking about the two strangers in their territory. When the Paragon came back up to check them out again Amina got a little worried. Glancing at Dragi she flew forward just a little bit. “Hello?” she called out, hoping the paragon wouldn’t react badly.
