Orthos----------Kahewai
Orthos----------Kahewai
"Orthos...I can't go any further..."
It had been days since they had last stopped for a rest. Their last safe hiding spot had been discovered and the patriarch had quickly moved his family; but he sometimes forgot how much smaller and more easily tired his Fairy mate could get keeping up to his pace.
"Of course, Kahewai. Stop and rest." The big male answered, angling his neck down to his mate's level to gently nudge her cheek as she finally came to stand beside him again. She slumped slowly to the ground with a relieved sigh intermingling with her panting. She said nothing else, though gave Orthos a look of gratitude as the Sailfin stood tall and imposing with his eyes already seeking out danger.
"Gooooood, it's about time we finally stopped! I'm staring, anyone see anything to hunt on the way?" A smaller voice piped up. It was an odd mix between youthful and mature tones, giving away the age of the speaker as that of a teenager. A more annoyed voice gave her an answer.
"If there would have been something to hunt we would have already hunted it. You're not the only one who's hungry Kalida..."

Kalida--------Alexio
Kalida--------Alexio
"I didn't ask for your sass, Alexio..."
"And I didn't ask for your whining, Kalida...
"Ugh, guys? Come on...we're all tired. Let's just calm down and let mom rest..." Came the soft voice of a young, very small Placid. She seemed like a runt compared to her two Sailfin siblings--a meek little darling who really didn't want to hurt her older brother and sister's feelings.
Chara
Orthos looked over to his children with a dark scowl on his face. "Chara is right, it would do use all some good to rest. Kalida, we will hunt once we're rested. Come now, safety in numbers."
Though Kalida rolled her eyes and Alexio dipped his head in annoyance, all three took close to their parents before nestling down in the cool mist of the forest. It did feel rather nice...that cooling vapor on hot scales that had been baking under the summer sun for days. Kahewai had already drifted into peaceful slumber and it didn't take long for the rest to nod off one by one.
All, that is, except Alexio. The hotheaded teen drummed his claws against the earth and rustled around for what seemed an eternity. They had traveled for days with no rest and now it was supposed to be family nap time? Well, he wasn't tired and he certainly wasn't going to waste his time here. There were so many noises sounding off throughout the forest without the yammering of his sisters and parents, so many things to see.
"...Bet if I found somewhere to hole up for a few days they'd change their tune. Maybe I'd even get to lead for a change." He mused to himself. That settled it, he was tired of being just one of their children. He was going to prove he was becoming a true adult male...he was going to find some shelter for his family. Heck, maybe he'd even go hunting.
Without so much as a glance backwards to his family, Alexio set off further into the forest to prove himself as something more than just a little hatchling.
