Nimbus watched carefully for the colorful set of wings ahead of him. Thankfully, they were relatively easy to track among the grim gray background. For a brief moment, she dipped around a tree and out of his sight. Worried that he would lose her, he hurried in her direction. Being both quick and attentive wasn't easy, however, and soon enough he smacked straight into an overhead branch.
The thorny branch scraped across his face, leaving a series of little cuts. "Ah," he hissed, grabbing his face in his paw. It certainly caught him by surprise. He wasn't even that tall! He pulled his paw away from his face to look at it, and noted that it was smeared with blood. It wasn't enough to warrant stopping, he figured, so he got right back to it. Only this time, he ducked.
