Nimbus watched carefully for the colorful set of wings ahead of him. Thankfully, they were relatively easy to track among the grim gray background. For a brief moment, she dipped around a tree and out of his sight. Worried that he would lose her, he hurried in her direction. Being both quick and attentive wasn't easy, however, and soon enough he smacked straight into an overhead branch.

The thorny branch scraped across his face, leaving a series of little cuts. "Ah," he hissed, grabbing his face in his paw. It certainly caught him by surprise. He wasn't even that tall! He pulled his paw away from his face to look at it, and noted that it was smeared with blood. It wasn't enough to warrant stopping, he figured, so he got right back to it. Only this time, he ducked.

Lei turned around to see how well she was being followed and she saw a splash of red that wasn't there before.  Her tail twitched with worry and she darted back to him to investigate. She wove between branches expertly, careful not to damage her delicate wings or long flowing antennae.

"What is it?" Nimbus asked softly. The words didn't matter, but his tone implied that he was happy to see her. That was, until she crashed right into his head. "Woah! Hold on. What're you..?" Nimbus flailed about trying to get her off his head, but she was scrambling around too fast for him to grab her safely.

She tapped her paws on the blood smeared across his face. "Ow! Stop it," he insisted, but she did not listen. "What are you doing, sweetie?" This was rather unlike her, so he was both confused and frustrated by it all.

Lei climbed up his head so she could perch on his shoulders with her front half on the crown of his head. She had thoroughly mess up his hair, but he didn't really mind that so long as she calmed down. She looked at her paws, now covered in his blood, and let out a distressed chirp.

She reached down and waved her paws in front of his face. Almost like she was saying 'look at this!' "Yes I know," he said, glancing down again at his own bloody fingers. He had taken quite a scratch from the tree branch, and though it wasn't too big of a deal, faces tended to bleed a lot.

"I promise I am fine," he said softly. "I'll be okay, it's just a little scratch, see?" He pulled his bandanna out of his pocket and wiped his face with it to get rid of the blood so she would be less worried. Hopefully.

"Gimmie your paws," he said. He reached up with his bandanna to dry her paws as well, but she scooted away from his reach. "Oh come on, you can't go around all bloody now," he said. She continued to evade his attempts to catch and clean her off, leaving little bloody footprints in his hair and smear across his forehead as she took off into the air.

"Whatever," he huffed. "You keep your bloody paws, then." He realized what he was saying and laughed a bit at himself. The whole thing seemed rather silly when he thought about it. He wiped his face once more before heading on, but this time he unknowingly spread the small amount of blood on his face and the bandanna all over instead of actually cleaning it up. Now he had a gross thin smear instead of just a few drips. Not like there was anyone around to see it.

The little Florana floated through the forest for a while, then began a circling spiral toward the ground. Nimbus had been following her rather lazily before, but he hurried once he saw her going down. He was a bit worried about her, but she did seem to be in control of the fall. He'd be a lot more concerned if it looked like she was suddenly falling, but she wasn't.

Lei gently touched down on a large rock and sat there looking rather proud of herself. Nimbus couldn't help but to smile at her. She was just too cute the way she sat up and tried to look dignified. Though he would never tell her that, of course.

"What is it?" he asked. "Is there something about this place that you like?" He looked around to see what she might be leading him to, but he couldn't figure it out. Maybe he'd never know...
