Slipping the headset over the base of her ears, which not only allowed her to hear the person connected to the headset, but cancelled a lot of outside noise, Rhosey, before she even realized it, found herself smirking. Though, when she did realize, the amused expression vanished.

"You on standby, Enigma?" She spoke into the small mouthpiece, those on the other end hearing her loud and clear.

"Yeah, I'm here," a man replied; not just any man, but a fallen guardian angel.

"Even though I'm here," the voice continued on, after a momentary pause of consideration, "try not to get shot, okay? Those aren't real bullets, but even rubber bullets can cause damage." Engima didn't want to have to heal her just because she was reckless.

"I know," was the woman's simple answer.

"Mother." A young man, not seeming much different in age from the woman he approached, had called out as he strode across the way. "Why don't you let me practice with you?"

Only vaguely hearing his voice calling out to her, Rhosey had to partially remove the headset in order to hear her adopted son's words clearly.

"I don't know if that's a very good idea..." It was evident that she was hesitation, though she worked to keep the frown from showing up her face. Though, it hardly made any sense that she was worried, since it had already been quite some time since he first started doing work out in the field, rather than just tending to their actual business.

"Mom, you worry too much," the man answered, chuckling once. He didn't take her words badly, though. He knew it was just in her nature to react that way; she didn't want him to be hurt, even if he was already all grown up now and could make his own decisions. But the fact was, he needed to practice, too. If he wanted to remain capable in field work, and even become more useful in such situations, then he'd need to actually train.

"Leon, I didn't mean you can't, or I don't want you to, it's just," Rhosey started, but she was soon cut off by her son lifting up his hand, halting her words.

Leon smiled at her. "I know," he said. "But you don't have to worry. My body is better off than even yours is, isn't it?" Ultimately, Leon and his adopted mother were entirely two different beings. Mother and son, but beings from two very different worlds.

While neither Leon or Rhosey originated in this world, and that technically made them aliens or intruders, they supposed, Leon had not even originated in the world that Rhosey once called home, where they had met for the very first time.

Most beings of her former world were humanoids that held some more animalistic features, often including ears and tails, or wings and horns, sometimes including different noses, even beaks, short fur covering most of their bodies, or flesh in nearly all colors of the rainbow.

Each person's features generally gave them away as one species or another, which were broken into various categories based on what sorts of features they had. And, though the species could all intermingle, including producing viable offspring, there were some corners of the world that hated the concept of mixing species.

Rhosey had been born in one such corner of the world; an awful fate for a child with parents that were two different species and fell in love, married, and had a child together, regardless of everyone else's views.

Whatever one's assigned species may have been, though, the beings of Rhosey's world were predominantly mortal. There were exceptions, of course, but Rhosey was born a plain, old, easily injured mortal. As were her parents, whom were fatally wounded victims of a hate crime when she was no older than twelve.

That changed, in her early twenties, after some godly intervention, when she ended up being pulled into some godly affairs she probably had no business being involved in.

It was that experience that really opened up Rhosey's eyes to the possibilities of the universe; coming to terms with the concept that there were many, many worlds and, likely, even many different universes out there, as well.

But it had very well nearly cost Rhosey her life. And it would have, were it not for the fact that one of the godly beings had mercy on her, and granted her a strange status that she had come to refer as an, "immortal mortal."

She'd been given the option, of course. Rhosey could have chosen death, and avoided living such a strange, unusual existence. But there were things that she was not yet ready to leave behind. That she couldn't leave behind. So, she made the difficult choice. One that meant that she could potentially live forever.

While she could still become injured, and even fatally wounded, her body, after a short period of time, would essentially reset. Any damage that was done, nearly any changes to her body, would be undone. She could never age, she could never grow out her hair any longer. She was practically frozen in time.
