Xyshari. Lana.

The pair looked around the forest warily. When they had awoken on the ice planet and seen things only in black and white and varying shades of grey, they had dismissed it for the large part - they were on a planet where the only landscape features were snow and ice.

It wasn't until they returned to the base camp to leave that they realized that something was wrong, because the fire wasn't a vibrant orange and red and yellow, but varying shades of grey.

"That's... definitely not right," Lana had said simply.

"Understatement of... well, no, not understatement of the year. That would downplay everything that we've been through," Xyshari said, sighing heavily. "What do you think happened?"

"I'm not sure I want to think about that," Lana said. "I'm not even sure I accept that this is happening right now. How can all of the color be gone?"

It was then that Xyshari looked up to meet her wife's eyes, and her expression fell.

Her vibrant orange-yellow eyes - one of the things she had fallen in love with first about her wife when they first met - were grey. Her blond hair, a lighter shade of grey. Lana tilted her head, and stretched out a hand to look at it. When she saw the lack of color in her flesh, she looked up at Xyshari.

"Let me guess," Xyshari said softly. "My hair and eyes match the rest of me now, as well as my normally-vibrant armor."

"I'm assuming that I'm in a similar state," Lana said, her hand dropping to her side. They boarded the ship in silence and flew in silence - what was there to say when you realized that the color in the world had been drained away? Instead, they sat in quiet meditation, making occasional remarks telepathically as they did so.

"One day, there's color in the world and we barely bat an eye at it. Then, we wake up, and it's gone," Lana said, sighing heavily as she shifted her position for the tenth time that hour.

"I just hope it comes back. I... don't want to imagine a world where I never get to wake up to your brilliant eyes again," Xyshari said softly.

"I hope it comes back, too. Your eyes are always so soothing," Lana remarked. For the next several hours, they sat in silence, only occasionally interrupted by Kaytoo's beeps and whistles of progress. When they came to their destination, it was in a forest shrouded in fog.

And there they stood as Kaytoo took the ship away.

Both Xyshari and Lana had their hands on their lightsabers - not necessarily because they actively sensed danger, but because they were on edge from the lack of the color. Xyshari's ears were perked upwards, and swiveling around to catch every shuffle and snap in the forest.

"My love, you're beginning to make me nervous," Lana said, lowering her stance slightly. However, she kept her hand on her saber. "I agree that we need to be on our guard, but..."

Just as Lana said this, Xyshari whirled around, her thumb hovering over the ignition switch of her pike. Her ears were suddenly pinned back, and Lana could feel the Force gathering around her like a storm.

"I sense something," Xyshari said, and Lana opened her own senses to the Force around her. It wasn't long before she moved into a ready stance again, saber hilt gripped in a hammer grip. They both heard rustling in the underbrush of the forest.

They stood there in silence for several minutes, their senses open to the Force and ready to move at a moment's notice. Xyshari had lowered her core towards the ground, one hand touching the foliage below and the other still gripping the saber tightly as she gave a soft, barely-audible growl. There was more rustling and shuffling in the underbrush, and both of them held still for several moments, eyes closed as they relied on the Force around them to be their eyes.

Just then, the sound got louder, and - with their eyes still closed - both women ignited their lightsabers. Not because they thought they would have to fight, but because the weapons were clearly foreign in this land, and would bring about one of two reactions - them being knocked to the ground and the weapons away from their hands, or the sound of quick retreating from them.

This instance proved to be the latter.

"Well, that was almost a little too exci--"

Lana had begun to say that as she lowered her saber, and as she did, she realized something - and Xyshari noticed it at roughly the same time, too. Perhaps it was because both were so accustomed to the soft lavender-amethyst glow of their lightsabers that they didn't think twice about seeing the almost-vibrant color against the canvas of black, white, and greys around them, but when they stopped to look, it dawned on them.

"Not all of the color is gone after all," Xyshari murmured softly, looking at her blade with a faint smile.
