Maravilla the female lucain. Belinda the obsidian slydra. And Kio the venom serraptor. (Post# 2 - 0 - 17) (Level# 1 - 1 - 3)

As the sun set on a turbulent day, three shapes appeared near the coast of the sea.
"Here?" asked one of the shapes, a strong young lucain. "It's better than nothing." hissed the largest shape, which looked like a large snake. "Stupid war. Why must we train to fight someone else's battles?"
"Because we are bound to a land, and we will protect it." The third shape countered. He was a tall venom serraptor. "Now you lazy brute, I'm an attacker. What do you do?"
"Shoot poison at you, of course." responded the Slydra simply.
"I'm immune to your poisons, remember?" spat the serraptor.
"Um... I'd... bite you. My toxins won't work but my fangs will."
A slow smile spread across the serraptor's face. "Try it."
Quickly, the slydra lunged forward, but the serraptor darted away with the agility evolved by his ancestors. He stopped and grinned victoriously.
"Be quicker." he said, then turned to the lucain, who had been watching silently. "Mary, you try."  
She stood there a moment, sizing him up, then suddenly sprang, trying to catch him of guard. He watched and clawed her lightly as she passed, a milimeter too far.
"God, you two, where did you learn to fight? The nursery?" he laughed. A growl erupted in Mary's throat and she sprang again at the venom serraptor, this time meeting her mark."Rule number one, Kio: Be aware." she hissed. The serraptor pushed her off with a scowl on his face.
"Good. Now let's sort this out. We can go Mary and Belinda, then Belinda and me, and me and Mary, untill one of gets tired, got it?"
"Got it." said Mary, preparing for battle.

Maravilla / Belinda

"We begin in three... two... one!" Mary called, and immeadiatly sprang into action, lashing light paws at her snake counterpart's throat. Belinda moved slightly, but her large size made it difficult to move quickly, so she was forced to only dodge with her upper body, leaving her lower body open to attack. "Move!" yelled Maravilla, swinging a blow at Belinda's throat. Belinda moved obediatly and brought her fangs down, halting over the lucain's body, knowing she could not harm her, they with a sweeping motion, she brought her long tail around like a whip. Maravilla jumped at over it and dragged her claws down the snake's long side.  
Belinda hissed in pain, and bit down on the lucian's arm, although she refrained from causing too much pain. Maravilla returned the bite on the fringe of Belinda's neck. Belinda swung again, but a sharp cry broke her concentration.
"And... You're done!" It was Kio, their time was over.

"Okay," said Mary, her breath laboured "Start... now!"
Kio sprang into action, clawing for Belinda's throat, but had had enough, and she came at Kio with full force. Her tail swung around and made contact, knocking the serraptor over momentarily. But Kio wasn't one to stay down. He hopped up and whipped his claws across Belinda's side, then ran across and bit her neck fringe. She returned the blow with her fangs, spitting venom that would not harm Kio.
He growled and clawed her again.
"Stop it, guys!" Maravilla called, jumping into the sandy fight area.

"Mm... Go." muttered Belinda, resting on the sandy ground.
Maravilla let out a battlecry, leaping on the serraptor, glad she was fighting someone her own size. She raked her claws down his feathered side, while biting down on his neck. He responded by clawing her shoulder harshly, and pushing away from her bite. They broke apart and stared at each other for a moment, then jumped again. Mary rustled her wing blades and opened her mouth wide, showing off her large canine teeth, before bringing them down on his back. He pushed her face away, dislodging her. She sprang relentlessly at him, while he blocked and fought with all his might.
"Woah, woah, woah!" cried Belinda, slithering between them, "Easy, guys. This isn't a real battle. And anyways, you're time is up. Our turn." she motion to Maravilla.

Belinda reared up and waved back and forth, following Maravilla's every move. Then, with lighting-quick reflexes, she brought down her head on Mary's head. The female lucain barely jumped away, and darted back in for a claw before Belinda straightened and went for a second blow. As predicted, the large snake crashed down again, this time with a whipping flick of the tail to catch the escaping lucain off guard. Maravilla silently decided that she would not leave this fight as a loser. She sprang a the snake and landed on her back, all four sets of claws raking into Belinda's side. The snake bucked, and managed to dislodge her.  The canine landed with a thump and sat there a moment, while Belinda readied herself for a second attack.
"And... Time!" called Kio. "Nice fight, girls."

"Thank Baal. I was dying out there." Mary whispered, dragging herself to the sidelines.
Kio sprang immeadiatly, unsympathetic to the large snake. Her raked his claws across her side, and -using Maravilla's idea- jumped onto Belinda's back, clawing her rapidly across the back. She bucked again, but couldn't dislodge him. She bent back her tail and whipped him of her back. She spat at him quickly. Kio responded by clawing up her throat, aiming for her jaw. She bit at him, then hit her throat down on the ground, pushing Kio into the ground, hopefully getting him off her neck.
"Okay. Time's up."

Maravilla waited untill Kio stood up and gathered himself before attacking again. She knocked him to the ground again, then held her paw to his throat. He wheezed and coughed out "Let go", although he knew that if Mary had been a real enemy, she would not give up so easily. Mary lifted her paw, then reconsidered and put it down again.
"Make me." she whispered. He kicked his clawed legs into her belly, sending her flying backwards. She jumped back on him, but he was prepared, and lashed out a strong claw. She returned the blow with a bite on his head. He kicked her.
"M'kay, stop!" It was Belinda.

Belinda steadied herself to fight. She wanted to win this fight. And she would. She spat at Mary, taking care to miss. Maravilla clawed at Belinda's neck. The large snake lunged down and bit the lucain on the shoulder lightly enough not to draw blood or inject poison. As Belinda leaned down, Maravilla clawed her face, and Belinda felt the blood pool from the wound.
"Oh, Belinda, I'm sorry." Maravilla whispered, as she knew that she was breaking a rule.
"The game goes on." she replied, smacking the lucian to the ground with her tail. Maravilla smiled and bit the snake again.
"Sorry, girls, this game is ended."

Kio stepped in to the ring and looked up at the snake. "I have an idea. In the war, we won't just be fighting, we'll be tracking and hunting too. Want to try?" The slydra nodded her head. "Oh! Find me! Find me!" Mary called, dashing into the forest. Belinda turned to Kio, "You try first."
The serraptor counted to three, then dashed into the forest. He smelled the air, a soft whistling noise coming from his nose. Nearby, the female lucain watched silently, her breath light so not to be heard.
"She passed this way." Kio said to himself. "She couldn't be far now."
Maravilla took this chance to attack, jumping on him quickly and, with the surprise she'd cultivated, managed to pin him down. "I win." she said, then raced back through the trees. Belinda was waiting for her. As she saw the young lucian, she slithered into the trees to begin her search.

Belinda wasn't good at this. She was better with her eyes than her ears, and the cluttered forest made it hard for her to move. She opened her mouth and drew air over her scent glands. Nothing but damp foliage and moss. She repeated the process twice more untill she picked up his scent. It was faint, but she could locate it.
Kio huddled under a fallen tree. He was sure his snake companion wouldn't find him. And even if she did, he could hear her a mile away. She crashed through the forest like a bulldozer. He sprinted to were she was, although far enough that she wouldn't see him immeadiatly. He steadied himself and attacked. He flew down beside her, raking claws down her side. "Try not to make so much noise, Bee." he advised.
He dashed into the trees.
Mary was making ruts in the ground with her claws, while waiting for Kio to get back. As he came bursting past, she smiled and walked back into the cover of the forest.

Belinda panicked. She knew all she had to do was find Mary before Mary found her, but the the eerie silence of the forest made her nervous. She didn't know if Maravilla was beside her, waiting to pounce, or outside, talking with Kio, or somewhere in-between.
In fact, Mary was sitting not too far off, with her nose in the air.
Belinda took air in to smell again, and she caught a faint whiff of lucain. She zeroed in on the scent and noticed Maravilla. She was overjoyed to have found her, and leapt immediatly, bringing the lucain down. Then, without a word, she slithered back to the sandy fighting area.
Kio watched silently and headed back into the forest.

[Maravilla: 13 ***] [Kio: 26*****] [Belinda: 10***]

Kio ran into the center (or what he thought was the center) of the forested area, and smelled the air. He had a moment of surprise when he couldn't find Mary's scent on the wind.
Truthfully, Mary was watching him from not to far away with a smile on her face. Her plan was working, although she was slightly uncomfortable, because her hiding place was in a slow-moving stream, that would hopefully mask her scent. She waited. And waited. And finally Kio was close enough to attack. She readied and sprung, pinning him down immeadiatly. She giggled and jumped around in glee, letting her girly side show through.
"Got cha'!"
"Mm. Can we do something else?" replied Kio bitterly.
"Sure, we could go back to straight fighting, or maybe... hunting?"
"I thought that was what we were doing?"
"Sort of. Let's go." They walked back together.
Belinda was puzzled when she saw them. But they soon explained that they would try hunting, and the large snake agreed. The trio sped back into the forest.

A bell sounded from afar. "Scratch that. We have to sign up now." sighed Kio. He nodded to his companions and scurried off into the beaches.
Belinda looked nervously at Maravilla and followed. Maravilla sighed and ran after them.
