Curbside Prophet [P; V; L] [Self Speed RP]

It wasn't unusual for the young fate-seer to have very vivid dreams of those close to her. Her mother, Deadpool, had often described the events as the Fate's revealing their will to her; flashing image after image for the youngster to either ignore or help shape the course of. At least, that's what Deadpool had always told her. Anoet was never quite convinced that they had any meaning at all besides being strange dreams that sometimes happened to come true. She was far from being a prophet of any sort like her mother, after all.

But this particular dream struck her hard...because she never dreamed of Azazel. For a long time the young Voidbringer had steeled herself against dreams involving her older half-sister because of the amount of guilt and sickness she felt afterwards. The things she saw...if they even remotely happened then she was a lousy fate-seer for not fixing them. Over time she had stopped having dreams of the older Sailfin altogether and thought it was for the best. The night was proving her very wrong.

The forest was dark, mountains jutted up all around the interior landscape. It was full of holes....some holding yellow eyes that glowed in the moonlit. Azazel was in a clearing, somewhere in the midst of these mountains. Huge brutes were all around her. Frosts, Sailfins, Sandsharks, a Sparkdrake. All looked down at her sister with cruel eyes, yet they were not what scared Anoet most.

That privilege belonged to the distinct pair of red eyes atop a shadowed head hovering just in the background. Circling. Waiting. And then, when the others seemed to be turning away from Azazel to leave her alone, those red eyes turned towards the meek Sailfin and unleashed white claws and fangs that sunk into her sister until the darkened shadow consumed her body completely...

"XEKOLI!"
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

From just beyond Anoet's chamber in the mansion-sized den Xekoli had been having an uneventful slumber; just how she liked it. Unlike her sister and occasionally her brother, the Sailfin had gotten none of their mother's fate sensitivity. Which, given the things Anoet and Tovin had seen on and off throughout their lives, Xekoli took as a complete and utter blessing. She had enough things to worry about on her own without having some...whimsical thing like "The fates" prodding around in your head every time someone in your life was about to have a life-altering event happen that you could possibly change. That just sounded exhausting to the dark female.

Equally exhausting were the nights Anoet decided to wake her up and help her decode these bizarre dreams. Granted, it had been a long time since that had happened. She had done it often in her teen years, but since she had become a lot more self-reliant. Koli hesitated to call her "confident" because that was one thing the Voidbringer was most certainly not. All that aside, the cry from the next chamber over jolted Xekoli from her sleep with a small squawk of surprise as she hit the cold floor beside her once-cozy nest.

At first the female spun around and looked for intruders, then it dawned on her bleary mind that it had been Anoet's voice. Skidding out of her own chamber to earn a small shower of sparks as claws met stone, she thudded into the doorway of Anoet's chamber with teeth bared and looking ready for a fight.

"What is it? Who's here?" The Sailfin growled as her eyes darted wildly around the nest chamber.

When the white Void cast her multiple red eyes onto her older sister brimming with tears, Xekoli was quick to lower her lips and conceal her fangs once more. "Koli...I saw Azazel again..." She managed to whisper. At first the Sailfin just looked at her younger sibling blindly before it all came back to her. Oh, that Azazel. The one who their father used as fodder for his business; who was supposed to have been freed upon their conception.

Yeah, that spineless creature was the only reason the three siblings existed, but it wasn't her fault. She had always only had Quil to look to and he had done some severe damage to her mentally. Xekoli didn't even want to consider the physical abuses their half sister had endured over the years. "Again? I thought you stopped having those a long time ago?"

Anoet shook her head before raising a claw to swipe away a tear from one of her larger lower eyes. "I had, but this one was so real, Xekoli. Most of it--I could see more than I usually can. I'm...I'm really afraid something has happened to her this time." The Voidbringer shivered slightly at the thought of the hazy vision. Usually she could only see a few faces--the setting and background were often left in shadow.

"I could see specific Paragon, Koli. Their species, where they live. The only one I couldn't see....was the one who..." The Void fell silent save for a small sob and the Sailfin walked closer to the nest to offer her sister a sympathetic pat.

"Anoet...you and I both know there's nothing we can do. This is why you willed yourself to stop having visions about her in the first place. But so long as she's with that worm who sired us all, we can't do anything."

Th Void stiffened to her darker sister's touch at the words, casting all four disapproving eyes towards her. "Koli, we can't ignore this! It was the most vivid vision I've had...I just know Azazel is really in trouble this time!" The white female insisted, stamping her foot down into her nest to the satisfying snap of several layers of nest material. "You have always told me to keep trying; that if I keep focusing I will get better even though Mother isn't around to teach me anymore. Koli...we have to do something about this."

The Sailfin did not look swayed; for a moment she just sat and stared at the wall to the chamber in thought.

"Please? You know you would have saved her a long time ago if you could have..."

A sigh was the first response the Voidbringer got in return. "Alright, fine. We will go and check on her. But if she is there and safe, you have to let it go. Tovin wouldn't let anything that bad happen to her..." Or he better not, or I'll have his hide for it.

As they walked down the hall together and out into the night, Xekoli steeled in her mind the idea that she was never submitting to a male and having hatchlings ever if it was even as remotely annoying being a mother as it was being an older sister. She had done late night talks before, but even she had to admit that this felt like more than just a little bit of overkill to appease a bad dream. While she had never doubted Anoet's abilities to have visions she had been proven time and again that her younger sister could not interpret those visions worth anything. She had probably just seen Azazel's next "assignment"--something she was forever grateful that Deadpool had firmly and forcefully spared them from.

"Look, Tovin isn't going to be happy to see us so late, so if Azazel is there we are forgetting the whole thing and leaving. I don't think Quil'lian needs any extra time to know that we're there." The white Void nodded sheepishly as she followed. Even though Xekoli was the smallest of the three siblings she had a way of commanding the most respect. "And you need to stay close. I don't know what kind of company might be over there tonight."

"I won't go anywhere, Koli. It's not us I'm worried about."

"Well, you should start worrying now. Never walk into a lion's den and assume he's going to be full and happy to see you."

Anoet made a small face at her older sister in something stuck between disgust and agreement. She knew how her father could be...but their mother would never allow it. She was so much better at reading her visions that she would know instantly if one of her girls were in jeopardy because of Quil. Heck, she would be here right now if that was the case.

"I'm being serious; it's not us I'm worried about. Mom would..."

"Mom hasn't seen us in years, Anoet." Xekoli firmly barked back. "She's not here and she's not going to keep guarding us. We're adults now; you need to realize that there is no more magical 'mommy shield' over us. She did her job, and now she's moved on."

The Voidbringer was physically taken aback by her sister's words so much so that she suddenly lagged much further behind the Sailfin as they flew through the night. "Well...I don't think she's left us..." She grumbled quietly to herself.

Some many more miles away in a cave that looked more like an underground warehouse, Tovin slept. It had been nearly a month since he had left Azazel with the paragon clan called The Hive. He often wondered if he had truly made the right choice for his eldest sister...but he had to keep those thoughts very under wraps. His father Quil'lian had begun getting increasingly suspicious from the lack of his push-over daughter. Questions about her current "job" were becoming more frequent; eventually Tovin himself would have to flee to save his own hide. But first he had to secure Anoet and Xekoli--his full-blood sisters--and ensure their safety.

For a long time after the sisters flew in silence; neither wanting to deepen the emotional wounds that had just been opened. Their mother had left both of them once they were able to care for themselves without any real reasons as to why she was going. But Xekoli knew; she had always known somewhere deep down. Their mother was afraid to stay in one place. Just how Anoet had trouble reading her visions, their mother had trouble controlling her desire to alter the fates of others. It was something that became a stronger and stronger impulse the longer she was around any one creature--to alter their future, play with their lives. She had started doing it to Anoet before she had left.

"You and I both know she didn't want to. But she did, and we need to keep looking forward. On our own." Koli finally spoke up with a defeated sigh as their Father's massive "business" front came into view.

Anoet only answered with a muffled sniffle before finally allowing herself to fly a little closer to her older sibling. "I know..."

---

The male Voidbringer sprung up suddenly from his sleep, glancing around his nest-den as if someone had just whispered something horrible into his ear. When no immediate threats showed themselves Tovin rose and gave a quick stretch. Something was not right tonight. There was something in the air--something dangerous. For the looks of the silent halls, Quil was not yet aware of this disturbance. Or perhaps he was the one causing them; Tovin could never really be sure.

Slinking as quietly as he could towards the entrance, Tovin kept glancing around him. Whatever he was feeling, it was not going to end well.

But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

As the females slowed their decent, Xekoli turned sharply to face Anoet head on. "Now listen to me for the last time. Don't. Get. Separated." She said sternly despite the fact that had the best of intentions with those words. If Quil found them here, their futures were forfeit. Moreso than even Deadpool could fix for them, she was afraid. The Voidbringer nodded and touched down just behind the Sailfin. The pair crept closer and closer to the door, Xekoli afraid to do so much as breath.

"We're just here to find Tovin. In and out." She confirmed as she reached a wall and slide a claw up onto the panel to begin picking at the lock.

---

As Tovin reached the front entrance, he became keenly aware of a scratching sound just beyond. At first his mind rationalized it-- probably a stray animal or timid wildlife that could smell the warmth and food inside and merely wanted to be let in to mooch. Then he actually listened.

The scratches were way too far up on the wall to be a stray creature. The only thing that big was...another Paragon. Pulling back his scaled lips to show off his massive fangs, the male tapped the keypad to open the door and face the intruder.
