Return to Dead Coast

The Hunt Begins [Palmie Hunt|Private]

Tum ti tum... The Dead Coast. Huh, it wasn't too bad, after all. Sure, there was a lot of sand, but hey! The temperature was kind of hot, which pleased the young Drakel hunter. There was also sand all over the place; hot sand at that, which was comfortable under his small squirrely paws. His tail was brushing the sand around, leaving no traces of his pawprints.

Freiter had a quest: to hunt and try to find every wild pet that was out there. Sure, it would take him most likely forever, but hey! If he wouldn't try, he would never know! He scratched his deep, old scar that was adorned on his chest, stopping in his tracks to take a look around the beach.

Needless to say this was a very charming place. Soft tan-colored sand, crystal clear water, palm trees that were as big and as numerous as houses... Perfect spot for a nice and relaxing vacation! Unfortunately, this wasn't why the Drakel was here; he had no time to lay down and relax.

Or so it seemed. As he started walking again to get more of the wonderful scenery, his paw failed to get a good grip on the sand, losing its balance as it stepped onto a seashell, causing the half-dragon and half-squirrel pet to topple over onto his belly, his face hitting the sand. Well, what a good way of starting things...

Freiter used his arms to raise his body, spitting the sand out of his mouth. Eww, sand sure didn't taste good... And he had swallowed a good mouthful of it, too. Maybe some odd, random pets liked those tiny little stones, but he for one didn't. At all.

He got back up, shaking the sand from his pelt. His started itching slightly, and the Drakel used his tail to brush the sand away from his back. Aah, delightful... Seriously. "Things started so well," he said to himself sarcastically before heading off again, this time being careful with his steps.

Freiter kept walking onto the beach for a while, tripping over nothing this time around. By then, he had picked up a small wooden stick to wave around as he was walking onto the hot sand. The small melody from the waves made him happy, giving him hope that, even if he didn't find a Palmie, he would have gotten some good time. That wasn't nothing, was it?

He stopped in his tracks when he heard a loud growling sound. He looked down to realize it was his stomach that was growling for food. Aah, stupid! He had forgotten to eat before leaving. He smacked his forehead with the palm of his forepaw, tapping his foot on the ground thoughtfully.

Freiter looked around, uncertain about what to do next. His growling stomach bugging him more than ever now, he figured he would be better to go hunt for some food. Being a squirrel, anything he found was relatively good for him. He turned his head towards the water and imagined there were most likely fish in that water nearby. Right? Most likely.

The Drakel walked over to the water's edge, getting onto his knees to take a closer look in the crystal clear river. He could see his reflection, which made him tilt his head, his eyes blinking. He pawed at the reflection, small ripples deforming the mirror-like effect. Understanding it wasn't an actual pet, he simply kept poking the water, having much fun right now...

Poking at the water was getting repetitive and boring after a while... Bored, the Drakel let go of the mirror-like liquid and started heading off somewhere else. Maybe he'd get the urge to play again later on, but right now, he had gotten tired of the little game. It was time to do something else, something more interesting.

Freiter stopped in his track, spotting a palm tree. Rather tall and big, the plant was pretty... charming? Er. No, that wasn't the right adjective. Nonetheless, the tree prodded at the Drakel's attention...

The Drakel looked up, observing the mighty leaves of the palm tree. Green and curly, they looked beautiful under the layer of sunlight being sprayed from the sun. Under the soft protecting of the green sheets were small and big coconuts, hanging down from the trunk happily, rocking about due to the breeze. Mmm... coconuts...

Hungry, the Drakel got an idea. Using his claws, Freiter clung to the tree, climbing it up. Using a little effort, the Drakel was certain he'd have no difficulty reaching the tree. It would just... take some time. Yes.
