Though technically in Medicai, the laboratory was on the cusp of what was called "outskirts," far away from the functional center of the city. That was probably a good thing as well, considering the work done there was considered "unconventional" in the nicest of terms; the medical societies tended to frown upon any work involving reanimation and the undead, if only because they thought it to be an unpredictable and dangerous science. Obviously, the residents of the towering Gothic home-turned-research-lab thought differently.
The owner of the home, the one responsible for the creation of any of the undead seen wandering the halls or grounds of his home, was absent today, as was his main assistant. That meant that Eresus, the resident arachnophile, had full run of the building with the exception of the rooms she was not privileged to hold the key to, and she was determined to get something decent done today.
"Where has that little demon gotten off to?" she wondered aloud, dark red eyes narrowed as she searched through the perpetual gloom and flickering fluorescent light of the main lab room. She had an assistant of her own, a small Kuhna with an immunity to spider venoms, who had an unfortunate habit of running off. Since it was so little and the house was monstrously huge, she keeps losing it in the halls and rooms. She needed to find the feline before she could begin her experiments, as she needed to extract venom from a species related to the brown recluse she had yet to build an immunity to herself; since the entire purpose of her experiment was the give herself said immunity, it would be worthless for her to extract the venom and be bitten and possibly die before beginning.
