Gift Shopping: Vatic

Sitting down at his desk, Vatic flipped open his high end laptop. After pressing the start up button, it took but a moment to boot up. He typed in his almost ridiculously long password and was soon met with his desktop. His desktop background flavor of the month was a screenshot from a recently released video game. Seeing it reminded him, once again, that he wanted to set it up to have a rotating background. Though, that would have to be some other day.

The hotel and casino owner wasn't the sort of man that always had a whole lot of free time. The holidays were especially busy, given the number of promotions they ran during the holidays. Nor was he the sort of owner that remained uninvolved with his business. Oh, no, he was there every step of the way. Which was why he needed to use this little breather to his advantage. He couldn't mess around when he had shopping to do.

While he was working hard for the holiday season, so was every single staff member. Vatic only picked the best of the best and was not afraid to let people go if they were not performing to expectation. That wasn't to say he wasn't lenient under certain circumstances and understanding, but he needed certain sorts of people working for him. Which, much to his luck, he seemed to have entirely achieved his optimum collection of staff members.

Being as wonderful as they all were, he wanted to especially reward them for the holidays.

He'd already started making plans for a surprise Christmas party. There were notices sent out to staff regarding a mandatory meeting, which they could only get out of by speaking with him first. Of course he would understand if they had familial obligations or other plans already, which his staff well knew. The meeting was a disguise for the party, though, so he wanted as many to show up as possible. Now it was just a matter of personally selecting a gift for each of his employees to be given out at the party.

First on his list to shop for was Acidd. The kid enjoyed music and video games, and seemed to be a fan of things that were seemingly inspired by a certain culture. Vatic clicked on the blue, red, green and yellow circular icon on his desktop, opening his web browser. In the available search bar, he typed in, "cat ear headphones." He'd recently seen such a thing popping up on his social media feed and thought they were worth looking into.

On the first page of results was the website for the headphones he had been looking for. It took only a moment of searching there to find a link to the only online retailer. The headphones were brightly lit with LED lights, which was undoubtedly something Acidd would enjoy. The cat ears even acted as external speakers and it came with a detachable boom mic, so it could act as a headset for gaming or chatting online. Yeah, that seemed perfect for the kid.

Ever cautious when it came to making online purchases, Vatic scrolled down to the reviews. There, he found that not everyone had great things to say about the headphones. It seemed like a speaker going out after a few weeks was a common issue. Reviewers recommended purchasing the warranty for the product, in the unfortunate event that something went wrong. It seemed that some of the issues were solved, though, by very simple means. Such as making sure to fully charge the headphones before the first use.

He considered his options, deciding if it was worth taking the gamble on the headphones or not. Vatic could bet that Acidd would love them, so that was really the final deciding factor. He'd just make sure to the warranty in case something didn't work right. Though, what really sold him was the advertisement for a promo code to get them cheaper and an additional advertisement that declared free shipping for the headphones if he signed up to the website with his e-mail. Like everyone really should have, he had a junk e-mail, so he had no worries there.

The real question, now, was what color did he order for Acidd? There were four different colored LED options. Would purple, red, blue or green be best? Vatic laughed at his own expense after a brief moment of thought. He already knew the kid's favorite color and it was one of the available choices. All he had to do was go with that and it was practically a guarantee that Acidd would be happy.

He clicked on the button for the color options and a list popped up. He scrolled down and selected the "green" option. Luckily, they were in stock. Then, another option for the warranty appeared. There was both a 2-year and a 3-year plan, a $10 difference between the two.

Well, what was thirty bucks when it came to protecting these expensive headphones for three years? Vatic selected the 3-year warranty plan, nodding to himself as he did. Yeah, he was making the best choice. He finally clicked the "add to cart button," and was able to preview the order. The subtotal, before entering any of the promo codes, came to $179.98. Oh boy. Hopefully, Acidd really would enjoy these things.

At the page to view his entire shopping cart, he noticed that they included the option to have the item gift wrapped for an additional $6.95. Well, that was handy, but no, he already decided that he would wrap all of the gifts by himself. After all, he wanted everything to be special.

He typed in the promo code "HOLIDAY," in the box specially for the promo codes. Once it was applied, the subtotal dropped down to $154.98. Twenty five bucks off wasn't too shabby.
