Lucila had arrived almost an hour early, and was now beginning to regret that decision. She'd drunk way, way too much coffee out of anxiety and needing an excuse to remain here, and she practically jumped out of her chair every time another Kuhna walked in, just in case her date was early. Cato hadn't given her a proper description, and she'd been too nervous to try pressing for one. Another decision she now regretted.
As she was thinking this, another Kuhna pushed through the doors, looking down at a card in her hand. The newcomer stared at the card for several long seconds, then swept her gaze around the room, briefly lingering on a Fellox in the corner before settling on Lucila.
The other Kuhna was coming toward her table. Lucila almost spilled her most recent drink.
"Hi," the other Kuhna said when she got close. "Are you Lucila?"
"Yes," Lucila squeaked, and then more or less got ahold of herself. "Er, yes, that's me. You must be Scarlett, then."
"That's right." Scarlett took one last look at the card before slipping it into a pocket in her belt, and sitting down. The two of them looked at each other for what felt to Lucila like a lifetime.
"Are you drinking anything?" Lucila said, just to break the silence.
"Right, this is a café, isn't it." Scarlett smiled. "I'll, um, I'll be right back."
Well, she certainly did seem like someone Cato would know. Anything else remained to be seen, Lucila supposed.
